- In this video I show you how to quickly and cheaply revive/restore/repair any 18 volt power tool battery. Most batteries that don't hold charge are still good and there may only be 1 or 2 bad cells in them. I show you how to test and replace those cells. Though this can be done with any battery including Lithium ones, I'm fixing a a clone of a Dewalt DC9096 18V XRP™ Battery which uses multiple 1.2v NiCad cells. The same cells are also used in other devices such as iRobot Roombas and remote control cars.

Very helpful . Thank you. I have a box full of those batteries.
Excellent video. Thanks!
Thank you for the video. I have a couple of Dewalt batteries that go to a Dewalt hammer drill. The charger shows they're charging but they never charge even though the charger indicates it's charged. I'll try this method out and let everyone know how it turns out.
I'll try it. Thanks for sharing.. 👏❤️🌹👄🙏 🙏🙏
what if the batteries have been sitting for a year or two? do you have to try to surface charge first?
They may still be usable but many chargers won't charge them because they are below the minimum voltage. You can try charging them by connecting them in parallel with a good battery to get their voltage up. However, from experience, if a battery goes below it's minimum charge it degrades significantly and should be replaced.
What about the old makitabatteries
Will be the same
What type of batteries?
Mine were NiCad
Does this fix batterys that don't hold charge long?
Yes. However if many of your cells are bad then it might be cheaper to buy a generic replacement.
