No, those who were there recalled that she DID attend it in order to get back at those who made fun of her and to rub her success in their faces. It didn’t go over well and it actually backfired. It’s okay to admit that this happened.

There's a difference between going back and acting like a mature adult and being humble and going back and acting like a show off. She chose the latter and it didn't work out too well. Key word HUMILITY.

My daughter once asked me why none of my friend were people I went to school with? I don’t tell her about the bullying, I don’t want her to question who I am against who I was. But the bullying blighted my life. As soon as I left high school I travelled the world. No one anywhere bullied me. Then I returned home and went to college then university. Five year later than I should have. For the simple reason that I didn’t want to encounter any of the high school people. I loved education. Loved it. Really loved university. One of my bullies died young at 17. I went to his grace. It felt strange to know he was in a box beneath my shoes. Very odd.

Being overlooked all your childhood by your peers and overlooked (and even made fun of) by guys you are attracted to can be extremely soul crushing and often takes a devastating toll on you. Hard to overcome it. Self esteem and self confidence are unknown things. Sometimes you gain enough of it to function and become successful in life. John is alive and well in Stratford Ontario and until recently, still played “out” with the Plum Loco band doing regional and local gigs. A tremendous guitarist!

She opened up so many doors for lead female vocalists of today!!! Her talent is undesirable, undeniable, we will never have another like her. She left us far too soon. She exuded talent. She was clean for so long, then she did one more and because her tolerance had dropped, it would prove fatal. She will never be forgotten ♥️ She will never be replaced. She will always be the Queen of the Blues. Rest in peace Janis 🙏 you are, and always will be an icon.

    As a wonderful blues singer 💙 ❤
Janis Joplin did get the low downest blues.
Her way of moving expressing her voice
    Her face showed the pain.
And yet she was called PLAIN.
NOT what is respected by Men in desires or fashion walkways .

I was 14 when she died. But had listened to her music as well Jimi Hendrix, It was very sad she really didn't get to go all the way into Blues music. Such spirit she had. We lost a lot back then. Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix Janis Joplin Mama Cass. All thru drugs. Even though they say Mama Cass died from something else. I had never thought Janic was ugly. But had a natural beauty just as Pasty Duke did. RIP Janic your music lives on. You be 80 now.
