Mick Jagger said it best in 1994. There were NO treatment centres like there are now, back then. No one had any idea how to treat it.
Jagger further added ' you couldn't take a yesrvoff as you were contracted to a record company whom, ideally, wanted two albums a year released. You also had to do yours to support the album. You as the artist couldn't win.
If the album sold badly you had to keep touring. If you sold millions of copies you had to STAY on tour to maintain the huge sales.'
Jagger concluded ' boredom set in, and people used drugs to either, fight of the boredom. OR, conversely, keep up with a murderous touring schedule.
      The Doors
Suffered exactly what Mick Jagger described.
Many now say The Doors were cooked after their first brilliant album. Morrison couldn't handle his fame and stupidly tried to live up to the hype.
A recipe for disaster including death in the Sixties & 70's.
Jim Morrison fell victim to drugs, but especially, alcohol. Morrison stopped using drugs by early 1969.
Furthermore, due to his huge binge drinking, Morrison was impotent by late 1969.
However, no matter how hard he tried, Jim could not kick the grog. He snorted very powerful heroin ( reportedly 70 per cent in.purity) whilst drunk and went into cardiac arrest.

I think there was more to it - although times were a lot different. People like Morrison, Lennon - who were outspoken about the government, war, etc. and were felt to be influencers of the the younger folks (and perhaps some not so young) were seen as threats, and the powers that be did attempt to silence them. I'm sure Morrison had a CIA file - maybe that has been made public, but we will probably never know all. Today, with the age of the internet, they can silence or 'eliminate' such threats to the desired agenda by censoring, and removing them from the social media platforms, or even eliminating websites ; erase and re-write history. All your information is controlled.

One of the concerts that I didn't attend at the Warehouse, N.O.,La., was the Doors, December 12, 1970. I read that this concert was the last time the Doors played in concert with Jim Morrison. He was so F_cked up, that he did one song maybe, then he collapsed on stage, Show Over. Shortly after this last concert, he passed away. The Warehouse was legendary. Everyone played there. I've only been to Paris once but I loved all of the city. There is something about Paris that you cannot describe.....a sense of freedom and beauty and I felt at home immediately. I've listened to a lot of people talk of the attitude of Frenchman not being accepting of other cultures.....stand-offish, if you will. I did not find it to be that way for me. I believe someone once said, "See Pais and die." Well, I guess that's what Jim Morrison did.....took it literally.

    • @paigeyysnydeyy

I felt the exact same way when I went to France. I was warned that they do not like Americans so I was very nervous. It was my first time experiencing culture shock.
The French were so incredibly nice & cool. Maybe they were nice to me because I would speak French when attempting to purchase something, as a sign of respect.
      The city is breathtakingly beautiful.
When I went to Père-Lachaise with some friends to see Jim’s grave, my friends & I got lost. While trying to navigate the cemetery, I noticed an old French man sitting by himself on a bench. He called us over, & it took me a minute to realize he was saying “Morrison?” Very fast with a French accent. He asked if we spoke French & we all shook our heads & said “no, English”
He replied “English?” Then blew a raspberry while giving a thumbs down. 👎
Then he proceeded to give us directions to Jim’s grave in the fasted French I’ve ever heard. I nodded my head, said “merci”
& then continued to be lost lol but we eventually found Jim’s final resting place. So magical.
I would love to go back to France. It holds a special place in my heart.

No one is given credit for adult intelligence any more, choices have been removed one by one, all to turn everyone into soft, compliant infants.
In the book No One Here Gets Out Alive (1980), Tony Funches said "Let's face it, man, there was no way you could talk Jim Morrison outta having a drink. You just ended up having one with him." The guy that the other Doors hired as Jim's bodyguard said that. His literal job was to follow Jim around and make sure he didn't drink, or at least, cut it way down to a normal person's level, and even he couldn't do it.
