I don't have an issue with the ergonomics. If you rest your palm on the table surface, instead of trying to grab the whole mouse while your fingers hang over the edge, it will feel more comfortable using the mouse.
I got the Logi MX Mouse 3 and bought the Magic Mouse 2 2nd hand, thinking I would not use it.. . Well, my Mx is collecting dust for years now, I absolutely love the Magic Mouse and this Vid pretty much sums it up within the 1min why I do.
I initially purchased a Magic Mouse, believing it to be the ideal accessory for my MacBook Pro. However, I found it challenging to maneuver on my desk, as it moved sluggishly and resembled a tortoise. Moreover, I noticed that its trackpad function didn't work smoothly when my hands were slightly wet. Since I also own an iPad, I eventually opted for a Logitech small keyboard and a Logitech mouse capable of connecting to two devices. The Logitech mouse operates smoothly, and it has been serving me well for the past six years. As for the Magic Mouse, I swiftly sold it in the second-hand market after experiencing months of regret.i do check apple site for its updated version and so far could not find one to try.
I really like the Apple mouse for the smoothness of going up and down and side to side but I work on 2 monitors and it is challenging moving the mouse from one monitor to the other or dragging a screen to the other monitor. It this a setting thing or an Apple thing?
I can get by the bad ergonomics since it is really compact, but the one thing I really dislike is also what's so good about it: the gestures (or as you described it, a trackpad and a mouse hybrid). The fact I gotta lift my fingers in order to right/left click is such a nuisance, I always end up going back to my Logitech.
One huge con for me - I have false right clicks with it all the time. Is there a workaround for that? Or just my hands are not suitable for properly grabbing this mouse?
That’s weird, I haven’t heard of that. You can disable right clicks I believe then just press option when you want a right click. I could be wrong about that but I vaguely remember that as a possibility.
It's ergonomically terrible, but the gestures, scrolling, Bluetooth connectivity, and battery life are what makes this a great mouse for me. I think people hate on it a bit too much. That said, it does feel like I'm holding a shard of glass that's cutting into my skin lol
Honestly the thing that Apple does better than anyone else is intuitiveness. I just instinctively started swiping/using gestures on it while working on my iPad. Having both trackpad and mouse functionality makes it a great mouse. That being said, its biggest downfall is ergonomics. Slimness and portability is great for on the go work is great but it’s definitely not something for your everyday/whole day desk setup.
For me the ergonomics are good. The glass has never felt like it's cutting or poking me and I claw grip my mouse (which is probably how it was intended to be used) and so it works fine for me.
Windows guy here, but I just bought my first Apple machine, a 14" MacBook Pro, wanted to see what development is like on it. I have a Logitech MX Master keyboard/mouse combo (MX Master 3S mouse) for my PC, so it sounds like I can easily move from machine to machine with the press of a button. But for replicating the Mac gestures on the trackpad, is the Magic Mouse the best (or only) mouse for that?
Yeah I believe it is. It’s worth at least picking it up and trying it out. With Apple you can always return stuff with no restocking fee. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@JonAdamsTech Oh man.thank for responding. Didn't think I'd hear anything. I have a question for you. Have you found the Magic Mouse 2 somewhat "laggy"? Not too terribly, but for example, I use a wireless Logitech mouse on an HP and it just works much smoother. I've maxed out on scrolling, etc.
@@JonAdamsTech I am sooooo happy to hear that is not an issue on the new magic mouse. You are 100% correct that I am stuck with an older version. Thank you for the awesome video!
I used to hate this mouse. I dogged on it for years. Then I ended up with one with an iMac that I bought. And you know what? It grows on you. It’s probably the best travel mouse out there. I wouldn’t want to use it every day, but as someone who works a hybrid work schedule, it’s great to have an easy mouse to travel with.
Thanks for the helpful review. Something tells me that Apple is not taking ergonomics seriously because they’re actually deprecating the mouse. It’s probably not a big profit center, so they’re promoting mouse-less mac operation (which explains why their trackpad is so big). I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple discontinues their mouse in the next 3 yrs.
If they made a good mouse it would be one of their top selling products. The mouse is superior for most tasks over the trackpad and I cant see them discontinuing it even with such a hard to live with mouse. They should just make an ergonomic one and the magic one and see which one sells better. Then discontinue the one that doesn’t sell.
Ergonomics hasn't been an issue for me as a video editor. I find it more comfortable than anything I've ever used, and in fact, it surprisingly managed to make the Wacom pen and tablet obsolete for my use. My hand just doesn't have to do the weird bend upward that a fatter mouse used to require. I also like how simple it is to stuff away, as it takes up nearly nothing in terms of space. Downsides: • USB-C Charging -- Now that it's been forced upon iPhones via Europe (and the laptops and iPads do, anyway) The Magic Mouse 3 needs to go USB-C along with the Magic Keyboard. • In-Use Charging -- Either an edge charging port -- or wireless charging mouse pad -- would be great to keep working without having to stop mouse use. If not, no biggy, given how long these charges can be stretched and how fast these can charge off of something as hefty as the laptop charger in a pinch.... just a couple gallons of gas should do the trick. • Upside Down Confusion -- Super tiny complaint, but we've all been there -- wonder what should change about the mouse that could make it more obvious of when I've got this right side up vs down. Maybe something with the logo?
Bro, I definitely 100% agree with that Logitech G502 mouse. I purchased one when it first came out many many years ago. I don't game much at all but just for the ergonomics and functionality, I can't see myself using another mouse as my primary one.
I just bought it it’s great as my hands are small and it fits perfectly and the charging lasts a ton and for mac I can’t use third party mouses they don’t work properly so it’s not that bad
I’ve used all three generations of the Mx master mouse and they work pretty great. Not as smooth as the Magic Mouse for scrolling though. What mice have you tried?
The only thing I liked about the Magic Mouse was when I got rid of it . I was using Razer mice for a long time and I think I might have gotten really used to the higher DPI so when I would move the Magic Mouse if felt so slow . Unfortunately Razer does not support apple , So for now I am using the G502 Hero
Try Logitech MX Anywhere 3S, you can use it on any surface you want, even on a glass table. The only thing that annoy is scrolling function on non-native macos mouse is there, there is no other mouse than Apple Magic Mouse can bring the smooth scroll experience like you use the trackpad
My biggest problem with this mouse is sensor: polling rate and dpi is extremely low for this mouse. This mouse doesn't feed smooth neither on my MacBook M1 Pro not on my 144hz monitor when I connect it.
I love that it just works with my Mac. However 30 mins into my day with constant work with a customer… my hand hurts. It just needs to be more ergonomic, more taller off the desk, at least double the width of standard human thumb. More to grab.

The only thing Apple could do with the next gen Magic Mouse - they could make it a bit bigger, or actually maybe offer size options, two or three variants. That's all. Based on this vid I decide, hey, why not give it a shot. Got it same day. Opened it, got it up and running. Put it right back in the box, going to send it back lol. Not only does it feel awful, but it is just too slow, even at max speed (working in 4k). I didn't even get around to testing out the swipe etc, no point if it feels awful. What a huge miss. Smoother scrolling, definitely. But at what cost?
Hahah sorry about that. Its so crazy to hear how different people respond to it, I love it but you’re definitely with the majority of folks who hate it
I wouldn't call it terrible, but I'd also never get one. I've got the Logitech M720/Triathlon on my desk. Basically the little brother/budget version of the MX Master. It's been a great mouse for me.
if you are on computer 8 hrs a day, ergonomics is number 1 factor when buying a mouse. Also trackpad functionality on the mouse sometimes can be confusing. When i worked with this mouse it tends to misinterpret my commands, such as swiping when clicking, or swiping when i simply left my finger on the mouse. this annoyed me so much i ended up using a cheap corded mouse instead. This mouse designed to be gimmicky and pretty, neither is a buy factor for me and -i guess- most of the people. Only potential users for this mouse is for writers doing a lot of writing and does not use mouse as often as a programmer or a designer imho.
Subscribing to a channel which I don't do to other channels after watching vedio. I liked your efforts and attention to detail. I hope the best for you. May you achieve your endeavours and success in your life.
The sensor is just horrible. You need to choose a specific mousepad to use with it. I have another mouse that cost me 1/100 of the price, and it works just fine on every mousepad I have.
2 months into the Magic Mouse and I hate it! Love the looks, but they got too fancy, and over thought in my opinion. I just bought a basic blue tooth mouse at Target, and feels like I can breath again.
As a gamer mouse ergonomics is very important to me. I would not be able to use the magic mouse at all i think. Or any other mice with similar shape. Im currently using the Corsair Sabre RGB Pro Champion Series (wired). Its DPI is up to 18.000 and it has a polling rate of 8000hz. But the best thing for me is it shape. I can use it all day long without my hand getting tired. Same goes for other mice with similar shape like the Logitech G403 or all versions of the Razer DeathAdder. I think apple users would like a mouse that is more ergonomic yes? 🙂
Oh yeah this mouse is definitely not for gamers. I use the g502 pretty much all day now on my pc and I love that thing! The best is having that higher polling rate, makes everything so much better! I have no clue who in the world would be using 18000 dpi though, that has to just be a marketing gimmick
@@JonAdamsTech Yeah no one use that high DPI i believe the G502 goes even higher like 24000 atleast the newest version of it. 😁I normally use my mouse from 800 - 1600 DPI.
First time Mac user (decades-long Windows user). Just purchased my first MacBook to use for video editing. Got the Magic Mouse because... well, it was the only mouse available at the Apple Store where I was at. This is a HORRIBLE mouse. Yes, it's got some cool features, but if you can't hold the mouse comfortably (those sharp edges almost hurt), if you can't easily control the zoom in and out speed in your video editing software, all the cool features in the world won't make up for that. And where's the middle mouse button? What's up with that? This mouse was clearly NOT designed with productivity in mind. Apple really dropped the ball with this one.
I got a magic mouse for free from work. I hate it, I stick with my harpoon. The touch gestures are great, but the accuracy of the pointer is awful, especially when you are moving it slow trying to highlight or click on the tiny minimize button. I have played with the settings but cannot get it accurate while moving slow. Its awful in that regard.
@@JonAdamsTech I did some more searching online and found out a plain white sheet of paper works well, I’ve been trying it out but it’s still not as smooth as the Corsair harpoon. Maybe I just spoiled myself using gaming mice
I think it does a great job holding down papers. Other than that it is not a usable mouse for me. I use primarily Sketchup, Autocad and Lumion for work (it's also useless for most games) and it just flat out is unusable for those programs. I need a mouse wheel button for panning. I need a physical right mouse button and I need ergonomics. I freaking love the G502! I have like 5 and it does fine in a bag with my laptop. I just prefer the one with weights. Not sure why they made new ones without the weights. I really never use any of the other buttons so I would be fine if Apple made a Mouse Pro with two main buttons and nice big aluminum wheel with button and shaped like a G502. Move the wheel lock to software and the sensitivity. It doesn't need all the lights but a glowing Apple logo would be cool. The Rivian has a very cool haptic feedback wheel on its steering wheels. The mouse wheel can be changed based on what it is controlling. Something like that would feel very Apple. Along with an aluminum shell. They made the Vision Pro which isn't flat so maybe finally they will make a mouse that fits hands? If people really are buying the "magic" ones I guess keep a magic and pro version and make the magic one 1/2" an inch taller and stick the charging in the front. It would actually feel better in your hand too.
3:00 that’s actually Apple crippling other products. I tried other non Apple peripherals (keyboard, mouse and headphones included), and they purposely make it difficult so you’re forced into using their product. I’m all in with the Magic Keyboard, trackpad and AirPods now but I hate KNOWING I was practically forced into that position because I refused to deal with the annoyances THEY introduce. Bluetooth works seamlessly on Windows or whatever else but they have to push their products. Surprised they haven’t been sued over that
@@warrenjoseph76 I wasn’t saying they are, Apple gets sued like 50 times a day. I agree that Apple knowingly doing something like that is wrong. Just like when they purposely slow down iPhones to make people upgrade. They should definitely be sued for that.
i've got a magic mouse as well as an MX Master 3. As regards the latter, superb. The former, to say it is made by a company that prides itself of ergonomics and usability is the biggest let down this side of eternity. It is the most uncomfortable mouse I have ever had the displeasure of using. Apple need to get back to the drawing board with this and stop surrounding themselves by people who just love apple things, because they have an apple logo.
I took it down because I can't focus between two channels and if I have any videos up, the way I'm wired is that I can't get it out of my head that I need to build it. So my goal is to get this channel to 100k subs eventually and at that point then I can start the other channel back up and make it about the content creation niche. I came to the conclusion that no one cares what a person with 2k subs has to say about building a channel haha
My magic mouse is like a real mouse. You look at them and think, can I do them, what is the best way to touch them. When I touch her, she ties my finger with a sharp edge. I then hold them with my fingertips. But she still fights back, trying to get out. She is very sensitive on the neck - every time I click on her head I get a malfunction on the display - it is briefly pulled up/down or to the side. She's like a white mustang, wild and uncontrollable. I think I'll release her into freedom before she gets young mice and, I want to use my computer normally again. I am against animal cruelty. Against human torture too, and I will not adapt to the behavior of the mice. 😉
did you worked with that stuff more than 2 hours intensively? If yes, are you still ok? :)))) Stop spreading the word about that mouse, is just not OK. Pack in the backpack, is mobile.. A mouse is still a mouse until the human hand changes and that mouse is not for a human hand.Battery life good, MAC just nailed it on the battery, however.. :)))) OMG
I’ve used it for 8 hours a day editing videos and never had a problem with my hands hurting. It’s not for everyone for sure but I don’t have any problems with it.
The one good thing about the Magic Mouse is when you’re scrolling on web pages or apps, it’s much smoother than any of the other mice I have tried.
Yeah that’s one of the best parts, I love it for scrolling on a timeline while editing videos

Hahah sorry about that. Its so crazy to hear how different people respond to it, I love it but you’re definitely with the majority of folks who hate it
I like the Magic Mouse 🐭 it works great 👍🏾 for me.
That’s great! Have you tried other mice or just stuck with the Magic Mouse?
I’ve been using this mouse since like 2008. I don’t see why there is so much attention to this mouse.
So I’m assuming you like it?
@@JonAdamsTech yep! I don’t get why the internet hates it so much.
I like some things about it but it needs to be not so sharpy
Haha sharpy is a great way to describe it
I wouldn't call it terrible, but I'd also never get one. I've got the Logitech M720/Triathlon on my desk. Basically the little brother/budget version of the MX Master. It's been a great mouse for me.
That’s awesome, I’ll have to check that out! I’ve used the MX Anywhere 2 and it is a pretty sweet on the go mouse. Thanks for watching Chris!
if you are on computer 8 hrs a day, ergonomics is number 1 factor when buying a mouse.
Yeah I actually agree with that, most of my work is writing so I'm not constantly using the mouse and I really enjoy it. Solid thoughts!

What does it mean for a channel to be monnetized?
That you’ve met the requirements to start making money on UA-cam. 4,000 hours of watch time and 1,000 subscribers.
@@JonAdamsTech so that means I can use music in shorts
Yep!
@@JonAdamsTech yay!
my favorite mouse of all time. just an extension of your Mac. quick and easy usage
100% agree! Thanks for watching!
Subscribing to a channel which I don't do to other channels after watching vedio.
I liked your efforts and attention to detail.
I hope the best for you.
May you achieve your endeavours and success in your life.
Nice, I appreciate the support!
the trackpad is amazing but it becomes really uncomfortable from using 1 finger all day.
Yeah for sure
The sensor is just horrible. You need to choose a specific mousepad to use with it. I have another mouse that cost me 1/100 of the price, and it works just fine on every mousepad I have.
I’ve used it on pretty much every surface and have never had a problem.
2 months into the Magic Mouse and I hate it! Love the looks, but they got too fancy, and over thought in my opinion. I just bought a basic blue tooth mouse at Target, and feels like I can breath again.
Haha dang sorry about that but glad you found a good mouse to use!
@@JonAdamsTech My life is twice as good today because I didn’t have to use that Magic Mouse!
@ hahaha that’s so funny, I’m glad that you are free from the chains and oppression of the magical mouse that once held you so closely
Never had any issue with the magic mouse. Remember that you press control key on keyboard while clicking mouse to 'right click' on something.
You can also just set it up in settings that when you click on the right side of the mouse it registers as a right click
Magic mouse is meant for macs, which arent meant for gaming
@@OzanG31 Good riddens. Its still a crappy mouse no matter what its ment for. They made it for looks not for ergonomics.
@j.p.h.8126 cant even spell "meant" correctly
I like Magic Mouse
Me too!
Yeah it’s definitely a polarizing mouse that’s for sure
I got a magic mouse for free from work. I hate it, I stick with my harpoon. The touch gestures are great, but the accuracy of the pointer is awful, especially when you are moving it slow trying to highlight or click on the tiny minimize button. I have played with the settings but cannot get it accurate while moving slow. Its awful in that regard.
That’s weird, I haven’t had any problem like that at all
@@JonAdamsTech I did some more searching online and found out a plain white sheet of paper works well, I’ve been trying it out but it’s still not as smooth as the Corsair harpoon. Maybe I just spoiled myself using gaming mice
Yeah the polling rate of gaming mice is a game changer. I use a g502 wireless on my pc and it’s amazing
I do like the battery life idk
👨🏻🍳🍣🍱
You didn't tell us that it sucks! Which it does.
I didn’t say that because I’m no liar. Also I love dw so solid profile pic.
You can never "over hate" anything related to Apple. If anything there's not enough hate.
lol you definitely won’t like my channel then
I think it does a great job holding down papers.
Yeah that would make it tough to use!
Good explanation. TY
For sure, thanks for watching!
Surprised they haven’t been sued over that
You should sue them and let me know how it goes.
@@JonAdamsTech as if lawsuits are unheard of especially when companies act uncompetitively?
@@warrenjoseph76 I wasn’t saying they are, Apple gets sued like 50 times a day. I agree that Apple knowingly doing something like that is wrong. Just like when they purposely slow down iPhones to make people upgrade. They should definitely be sued for that.
Hate this sideswiping
That’s strange, I find it so smooth
i've got a magic mouse as well as an MX Master 3.
Haha I get not liking it but the biggest disappointment this side of eternity?! You must have a pretty solid life!
I think it’s a bet between engineers, see how bad they could make a product and it would still ship.
Haha
Most gpt-ed intro ever
Huh?
This mouse is so bad that when my parents had it growing up I just gave up trying to use the family computer lol
Dang that’s intense’
What happened to your other channel, there’s no content
That was a wild ride
Is the Magic Mouse as bad as everyone says it is, Absolutely NOT!!!!!!!!!!
No I think it’s great!
I don’t understand why it’s so bad?
The Magic Mouse? People get hung up on the ergonomics and the charging port being on the bottom but I don’t think it’s a big deal
That's a magic rat,
Shhhhhh didn’t tell nobody
Still the worst Apple product. Even if it’s a decent mouse.
Would you rather go mouse or trackpad?
@@JonAdamsTech track pad I think.
@@JonAdamsTech mouse ,trackpads are awful, ima laptop user and ive disconnected the bugger cus its annoying
Dang, you hate them that much?! haha
Have you ever tried an Apple trackpad? It's on a whole different level.
"disconnected the bugger" makes me feel like you're a PC user. @@Val-_33
You tell me I am refunding it back
huh?
All I used from Apple is the worst ever... I can not understand what people love about this
Wait you use the worst stuff?
@@JonAdamsTech Maybe... Tried the MacBook Air, iPhone 6, and Magic Mouse-felt like I was in a tech horror movie! At least I'm now immune to the hype.
Haha well glad you survived the trauma
The fact that it does not come with battery and has to be charged every other day itself is a big con for me
It has to be charged like every other month max
did you worked with that stuff more than 2 hours intensively? If yes, are you still ok? :)))) Stop spreading the word about that mouse, is just not OK. Pack in the backpack, is mobile.. A mouse is still a mouse until the human hand changes and that mouse is not for a human hand.Battery life good, MAC just nailed it on the battery, however.. :)))) OMG
I’ve used it for 8 hours a day editing videos and never had a problem with my hands hurting. It’s not for everyone for sure but I don’t have any problems with it.
