Really nice of the Highway Helper to give ya some extra lights.... My company no longer allows tire changes on the highway... too much exposure time with far too many inattentive drivers.... we only tow off the highway....it needs a repair or replacement anyways... but if they insist they just want a spare put on (assuming they even have one, so many newer vehicles don't even have spares) but if they insist...we charge a service call/hook fee... take em to the next exit/safe area & then we only charge 50% of what a tire change service call would've been had it not been on a highway... its a company safety policy, but it's easier to just tell customers our insurance doesn't cover us doing them on the highway anymore, too dangerous. Everyone understands. Hook fee plus 50% service call still makes it a decent call...but much safer...
@@woody4u247 yeah I was grateful they stopped, not sure if it was for me or the tractor behind us but either way I was glad they were there. They left after I started putting my tools away so it might’ve been for me. 🙏 if I were in a rollback I could’ve loaded it and took it off the highway but with the wrecker I’d have to load it on dollies. Good idea to tow it off the highway.
Man, I really don't like changing tires on the side of the highway. Big ol semi trucks blasting by right next to you. If you have the opportunity in another video, could you post a link to the tire lowering kit you have?
@@TowMan127 the city I live in is very poor. But I've really been contemplating moving. I'm worried about oversaturation. If I leave my little town and then go somewhere where there's 150 trucks no one's going to call
Please be careful brother doing highway calls especially tire changes on the driver side. You have zero protection. Doesn’t matter if you think it’s considered “safe”. It takes a split second of someone trying to change lanes and someone not realizing there is a car there and they both crash and come barrel rolling into you. Take it from me brother, I almost lost my life because of a similar interaction. I know it’s tough because you’re driving a wrecker and you would have to dolly it and all. I’m just saying to be hyper aware. Stay safe Towman!
