This is exactly why Europe is starting to have legit NBA guys. There's a 13 year old over there who is 6'10 and super skilled. They put him on the u18 Barcelona team and he's the 6th man for that team. They would NEVER put him inba camp like this. If your bigger than your age group and can actually hoop play up so you can get better.
A lot of camps (not just basketball) are very hit or miss. I went to several different ones when I was younger and realized quickly some are run by actual adults while others are run by overgrown kids who just are doing it for a quick buck. The worst I went to was a dirtbiking racing camp ran by a professional who literally taught nothing besides to people he was coaching privately who clearly were pretty skilled already. So you had over a hundred (newer) riders who just were lost and had zero racing guidance while that group of 30 or so were given full attention. They didn’t even try to hide what was going on as many of those chosen (including parents of them) were insanely rude and made it clear they were “above everyone else” and gave the vibe “take the hint and leave.” I remember most were gone by noon, including myself. You saw what you see in this video where no age groups were made so you had kids on small bikes with teens/young adults with full sized bikes with zero insight given to those who wouldve needed it most, the kids.
2:11 I saw an update on Newman recently He’s playing in the lowest level in college and he is 0/13 shooting in 6 minutes played total… he’s averaging 2 3pt attempts a minute … and he’s chucking and missing lol😂
If my parents sent me to one of these basketball camps wanting me to improve my skills and I turned up to the camp and got a camera shoved in my face and forced to guard a person twice as tall as me I would be pissed off and would want to get a refund
In all fairness, Jeremy Gohier is actually 13 and lives just a few miles away from the tallest active player right now (Olivier Rioux) and Kam Mercer is a freshman but he himself admits that he's 6'5
There were legit camps back in the day where invites got jerseys with 3 digits. They had like 500 hs players from all over the country. 1:10 the camp is made to get young players media exposure this is what they said Mshtv:The goal of the MSHTV Camp is to provide young basketball players a platform to gain national exposure. The camp provides an opportunity to play against top notch competition in front of influential media members. No other camp combines exposure and competition like the MSHTV Camp. This camp does not include drill work or instruction, it is designed to help young players get recognized by media and scouts.

bro the 4'5 kid literally wanted to guard the 6'8 person by choice. They played each other and he wanted to guard him not like he was forced to. you know nothing about this camp.
I agree, also they are getting taught the wrong things. As 10 year olds Oh and also they don't learn to play as a team they just all play iso

The point of this camp is for kids and young talent to be exposed to scouts and the media. Not really much about skill improvement. But the issue is the lack of defensive effort. That is a problem. But the reason for a lot of this is because of the way these camps are run and the purpose of them.
