My husband built me a bed frame and headboard and lightly charred the wood before putting it together to bring out the wood grain. But I never knew about this process to extend the durability of the wood. And beautiful as well!

I had no idea that charing the boards would make them last longer. Great watching your process.

    Gorgeous work!
I've used this technique on the posts and lowest parts of my chicken coop. it's far too recently built to know the long term results.. BUT.... I'm with ya!

I like the corner bracing method you used. I plan to build some raised beds this winter for may garden. I'll be using pallet wood, though, because it is free.

Sounds great! Luckily, I had gotten all my wood last spring before the prices went up.

Hello, I thinking about doing this for my garden and I am wondering how your raised beds are holding up?

They're doing well! Need to put a refresher coating of timber oil on the outside, but it was definitely worth all the work burning and oiling.
