that minimum focusing distance on the Sony is a deal breaker for me, I'm definitely going with the Tamron, I can live without OSS because of IBIS, a lot of reviews don't make this comparison, thanks for this
Let my Sony 24-240 go when I found the 28-200 in 10 condition at B&H for $640. What a lens! It’s comparable to the 28-75 (my brother shoots that), just one stop slower at 75mm but continues on to 200mm?! Pure witchcraft.
Torn between these two. The Sony is now £200 cheaper than than the Tamron, has OSS and a wider range, the Tamron has closer minimum focal distance, and a stop faster...
Hi Mark, unless Sony is having a promotion in your area the Tamron should be the more affordable lens. In either case, both are great lenses. Just depends on what your needs are. Thanks for watching!
I Wish tamron lens to zoom more. The fair price for this lens should be around 500 $ .nothing more nothing less.If they include more zoom the price will be ok.For example 28 -280 mm or 300 mm.
I tested Sony 24-240 with a7iii. I don't like bokeh(too busy). Video Af not great. I went 24-105 f4 what was way better image quality and AF. Now I thinking to buy Tamron 28-200 Because light weight, 2.8f wide end aperture and long reach.
Let me know which image was taken with the Tamron (amzn.to/2PISOsq
) Sony (amzn.to/3gNBWwl) down below.

The minimum focusing distance on the Tamron is a huge plus. Thanks for watching!
Great comparison.
Thanks for mentioning the practicality of OSS.
Next time please also mention the focus breathing.
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching and thanks for the feedback!

Great lens for sure. Thanks for watching!
The first generation Sony A7 series don't have IBIS. Only two aps-c bodies have IBIS.
What a terrific real world review. It really helped me realize that the Tamron is the right lens for my shooting style.
Great, thanks for watching Paula!

Fast aperture, cheaper tamron is more appealing
Thanks for watching Pawan! We really love what Tamron is doing with their Full-Frame Sony E-Mount lenses.
