Thank you very much for your comment and your kind words. 👍 I always try to be objective and honest in my tests. I buy all my cameras and lenses myself and can therefore create independent reviews.😉
In the mean time i decided the tamron is great for allround, but for model/portret photography the sony is the winner with f4 up to 105mm. Also my most used focal lengte with model/portret is 50-90mm so the 24-105 f4 is more practical then the tamron 28-75 f2.8 + 70-180 f2.8
Thanks for your comment. 👍 Both lenses have their strengths. The Sony definitely has the better quality in the corners and a little more micro contrast.
Started with a sony 24-105 ( body a74). Then switched to a a7RV and decided to change the 24-105 with the tamron 28-200 ( I'm often hiking in the Dolomites and I need a single lens with a good zoom range). The tamron is indeed a pretty good lens but on a 61 Mpx camera, the corners are just horrible, to be fair. A trick is to put he raw image quality down to compressed raw M or S or to shoot in aps-c mode. Still plenty of informations captured but of course you are sacrificing the full potential of the camera.
Thank you for your comment. 👍 That's right, the Tamron has its weaknesses with 61 MP cameras. It always depends on what compromises you want to make. If you want the very best quality, you have to carry a lot of heavy lenses. 😉
Thank you for your comment.👍 With your camera, I would rather recommend the Tamron 18-300mm. It has a stabilizer and it is sharp. I will also be doing a review on it in the next few weeks. I'm currently testing it on the A6400. So stay tuned. 😉
It depends. On the one hand is starts at f2.8 but it change from 32mm to f3.2. The other lens starts from 18mm and it end at 300mm and it’s stabilized on top. This gives you an anvantage on the long tele end.
Thank you for your comment. 👍 Unfortunately, the 24-200mm is not in the same league as these two lenses. I had it a few years ago and it really wasn't good quality. It was not sharp almost everywhere and it had slow autofocus and strong chromatic aberrations. I really can't recommend it.
Great review! Super informative and kept variables consistent as possible.

I am very happy with my Tamron 28 - 200. This is a sharp lens at a very good price.
Thank you for your comment. 👍 I am always impressed about the performance of this tiny superzoom lens.

Thank you for the very elucidating comparison. Thanks!

Thank you for this review. I also prefer the Tamron one more over the Sony.
Thank you for your comment. The Tamron is a very good lens!

Hi. I own a Sony a6300 with Tamron 17-70. Do you think it's worth lossing tamron's VC in exchange with longer range?

@@dawa5581 is it sharper than the 28-200? But 18-300 starts at f3.5... I think it's a downgrade if it's going to be slower than f2.8

How about a low light comparison?
At the wider end the Tamron is better in low light.
how about 24-240mm sony
