    I’ve had a 2012 3.5 Limited, 2014 3.5 Limited, 2016 Sport and 2017 Sport and driven on several family road trips over thousands of miles at a time and had NOT ONE instance of these cracked manifolds or exhaust issues.

    Great idea promoting the CO detectors. As a paramedic with 28 years experience I can tell you that people have little idea how quickly fumes can reach dangerous levels, even with todays well controlled engines. Also, this is the first I've heard of these in car devices, so thanks for that.

    have a 2013 and have no problem with mine. As for the recall it was on the news and it started with Police Depts. that were heavily modifying their cruisers and not sealing correctly. Also helps that you ensure you do proper maintenance and not letting the check engine light go on forever.

      LegitStreetCars Alex, you deserve the praise for your hard work and dedication to this series. It seems that car enthusiasts channels now are filled with a bunch of creators trying to showcase their own agendas which is nothing more than trying to gain subscribers through fluff and remedial videos of their overpriced rides. You, in contrast, discuss and inform others on serious issues pertaining to our rides and advise us best on how to deal with those issues going forward. I read your comments from all your videos and so many feel the same way I do. Your videos are top notch and a much needed addition to the automotive UA-cam community. You should be proud!

    Alex, great video as always, however, the reason Ford has not issued instructions to check exhaust manifolds on civilian units is because there have only been evidence (so far) of cracked manifolds on the 3.7 V6 (Lincoln/Mustang engine), which is only available on the Police Interceptor Utility and not the civilian ones. I'm sure you knew that, but, checking on the Ford Explorer forums and Blue Oval forums, also confirms that. No 3.5 V6 models have been found with cracked manifolds. It's also important to note, that, only a small percentage of civilian models have come back with high CO numbers (given the amount sold, as you pointed out). I was well aware of this issue and we just bought a brand new (2017 leftover) Explorer a couple of weeks ago and even my insurance company knew about this issue and told me to make sure the recall was performed on it (in Canada, they are treating it like a Transport Canada Safety recall). My late build 2017 (was built in Oct 17, Job 2 build) had the updated parts on it already, but, I did my own CO test (as per online instructions) and was happy to see, no appreciable levels.
    But, I'm glad you made this video Alex, since, it is a weird one for sure, given how rare any car on the road suffers from this issue at all.... kind of makes you wonder what conditions are unique to the Explorer for this to even happen at all.....

It's unibody...therefore it's not even an SUV, it's a crossover. The only explorers worth their salt were the early full frame models. Why ? Because they could be repowered with a v8 very easily.

    I do not believe for a second that its due to cracked manifolds. I own a 2017 Explorer sport. Got it with 10 miles off the lot. First hard acceleration onto the highway I could smell exhaust. This was with less than 100 miles on the clock. To this day if I accelerate hard I get a nice wiff of the exhaust. Sad but on long trips I keep the sunroof open and my windows cracked. appreciate the code for the detector. Will be buying one soon!

    • @LegitStreetCars
      @LegitStreetCars  6 років тому +7

      boriquais Wow that's crazy. It doesn't need to be a totally cracked manifold. It could be a bad seal which would do the same thing.

    • @boriquais
      @boriquais 6 років тому +3

      While I believe it could be a seal. The problem is that this car is offered with like a 4 cyl a 6 cyl and a 6cyl twin turbo. all of which I would think have different exhaust manifold designs. Yet they all have the problem. either way ford doesn't seem to care and you are right the "letter" is a joke. I guess they are just waiting for more people to die.

      It's a joke because there is nothing to do, on a vehicle that needs nothing done because it does not have excessive exhaust coming in. It's like going to a doctor and telling him to sew your finger back on when you finger was not severed off. What are they to do? Check it and fix any fault found, and do nothing if no fault is found as is the case on the vast majority of them.

    Two years ago my son bought a 2015 Certified pre-owned Explorer. He has had zero problems with it, and no headache or other symptoms.
    In most cases of the Police versions, Ford was able to eliminate CO intrusion into the cab by sealing improperly installed emergency equipment (by a 3rd party upfitter) where new openings made to route wiring were not properly sealed, allowing exhaust fumes to enter through newly made holes in the rear hatch. In some cases this alone did not resolve the issue, but it did in most cases, including entire fleets.

I disassembled the vehicle and there are two very large holes above both of the exhaust tips that lead into the rear body area and go into the rear quarter panels. What in the world gave you that false impression? Automakers have had recalls and class action lawsuits for a very long time, not at all a situation of being protected and not "go after them". Should they be more forthcoming? Sure, but this kind of corporate strategy to do damage control and minimize loss is typical in most industries. No company is going to product a list of every possible way their product can harm you, which would make the average uneducated consumer think another product is safer merely because they did not disclose a similar list.

    My 2010 Ram 1500 with a 5.7L had broken exhaust manifold studs and FCA replaced the manifolds, studs, nuts, shields and gaskets free of charge under what they called some sort if customer care program. Not a recall or service bulletin but something else. The truck was way out if warranty with 130,000 km and just over 7 years old. All because of the risk of Co2 getting in the cab through the heater ducts.

    Alex, first, thank you again for the Chicago mechanic you suggested to me for my 2005 Mercedes C55 AMG, and secondly, isn't crazy that my full time vehicle is a 2017 Ford Explorer Platinum edition! When I purchased the vehicle in May, the dealer at Fox Ford did NOT mention anything about the CO2 concerns that are making news now. About a month into owning the SUV, I read an article and forwarded it to my sales rep at Fox Ford, and she told me she had not heard anything or was aware of ANY issue. 2 weeks ago I got the notice you are talking about for my 2017 Explorer and I will be setting up an appointment ASAP. I am very concerned that Ford and its salespeople DID NOT say anything to its customers when they knew about this problem since 2012. Full disclosure is the best policy as it will keep your valued customers feeling valued. Great work again spreading your knowledge and making everyone better informed, and I will pass it forward. Joshua Gorton The reason ford hasn't done much has to do with this is because this issue mainly exists with the cop car varient and specifically is a result of aftermarket , third party vehicle modifications made to the vehicle for police duty that were improperly made, leading to gas fumes being able to enter the vehicle. Ford launched an investigation and found this was the cause of the problem. They took pictures and gave a detailed explanation of why ths was happening. Despite the fact that this wasn't fords fault, they offered to fix the issue as a sign of good faith. So why are civilians complaining? Look at it this way, someone tells you your car has issues with exhaust issues, you're sitting in traffic and someone is sitting in a old car in front of you, you would smell those fumes, maybe you would think that was your car. The proof? As previously stated, CO2 is odorless but alot of the complaints are about the smell. So they aren't experiencing the issue.

    LegitStreetCars I’ve been going through some intense nightmares with my 2013 Ford Explorer XLT, in addition to the exhaust issue. We bought the car a year old, with only 20k miles, and still under factory power train.
    The first issue was with the AC system. My wife was picking up our kids from school, and while waiting in line, a teacher runs over to the car and tells her it’s on fire! My wife shut off the car, determined it was just smoke, but the engine was seemingly locked up! I towed the car back to the dealer, we found the AC pump actually seized and would not disengage. Of course this wasn’t covered under power train, so I had the car towed to an ASE certified mechanic to perform the repair. Turns out, the pump had already been replaced! Since then, we have had a pump failure every year to two years! The most recent was last year, and we literally replaced every component associated with the AC system... the entire car was disassembled! We’ve contacted ford numerous times for this, always receiving a letter of non-liability as the issue has been assessed and deemed a non-safety issue!
    Shortly thereafter, I was driving it down the interstate at 70mph, and the front wheels locked! I came skidding to a halt in the center lane! Fearing for my life, I placed the car in reverse, the drivetrain freed, and I pulled off the highway, with a large and sudden lurch about every rotation of the tire.
    Took the car to my nearest dealer, a Honda place... found out the front AWD differential broke a tooth off of the ring gear! Again, called Ford! This time I was notified it was a safety issue, but was the result of improper servicing... the fluid gets old, runs low, and the differential overheats! Okay, the car was at Merchants two days prior for service, went to the store and raised hell! They showed me the Ford authorized service notes... the differential is a sealed unit, cannot be drained, does not have a fluid level indication or verification, and is supposed to last the life of the vehicle. I did some research, found out that when Ford took this design from Volvo, they eliminated the oil cooler for non-turbo vehicles as a cost savings, despite Volvo insisting on the necessity! So again, out of luck... did the replacement in my driveway... I couldn’t believe it, but there were shop notes written on the broken diff!!!! That’s right, within 20k miles, this explorer suffered a failure and had been repaired at Ford!!! This was apparently the reason a car with only 20k miles was traded in.
    We are at 95k miles now... we’ve been trying to get rid of it for years and can’t. All of these issues have depreciated the car farther than we can afford to pay vs the loan... so instead, we spend about 3k annually repairing it... the car is paid off in 2019 and we’re going to dump it to who ever will give a nickel for it!
    Now second gear is starting to slip... this thing is just a timebomb... and what else do we do but wait for the next explosion and hope it gets totaled? Not what I paid for when looking for a family vehicle... but definitely where we find ourselves!

    Thanks Alex for this long waited video. It’s very informative and helpful. Some of Ford cars have been known for factory defects and Ford always keeps on denying any issues with these cars. For example, some models have issues with the steering power which can be a safety issues. The Taurus has been known for premature water pump failure and guess for how much it is repaired, $ 2,000. Yes, 2,000 because the defected part is located inside the engine. I hope you can make a video regarding this poor design of water pump

    I have been leasing the Ford Explorer for the past 6 years (three 2-year leases). I can tell you that all three lease vehicles have exhaust gases coming in to the cabin. I currently have a 2019 Explorer and the problem has not been addressed. It is most noticeable under acceleration. The odor resembles that of hair permanent chemicals. It is very noticeable. I find it very interesting that Ford reprogrammed the HVAC to turn off the recycling of cabin air under acceleration as a patch, or hack, that has failed miserably. Currently I do not believe that Ford has a handle on this problem as it persists through the 2019 models. The lapdog media accepted their proclamations and it should be obvious to all that the federal oversight on safety has failed as miserably as the Boeing MCAS system. I try to avoid hard accelerations but that is not a fix. Obviously there is some level of exhaust being inhaled all of the time. Given all the additives in today's gasoline, that is almost certain to cause cancers over the long haul. The idea that there is an acceptable level of toxins in the air (that is very noticeable), or an acceptable level of fatalities, is really unconscionable.

      Before I dropped my Note 4 and had to go back to my S3, I was liking that P02 sensor. It's very interesting, but something I know from working around medical professionals is that taking someone's O2 levels with one of these sensors is an inaccurate way to discover if their is carbon monoxide poisoning. You have to go off of symptoms. Your O2 levels in your blood could still look good, the ER would send you home, you'd pass out and die...but then again if your car was the source you may have gotten worse than in your drive in.
      Long story short, be aware of symptoms or get a CO2 detector as these blood sensors you're referring to have been found to be a failed way to protect someone from carbon monoxide poisoning.

    My mom and dad have a 2007 Ford Edge with the Duratec 35 engine, purchased in November 2010 with 30,000 miles on it. I have meticulously maintained it since we got it, regular 3000 mile oil changes and other repairs as needed. It has been a very reliable car. At 112,000 miles, the water pump (timing chain driven pump, inside the front timing cover) leaked, the engine overheated, blew a head gasket and the timing chain skipped a tooth. I replaced the engine myself and before doing so, I replaced the $70 water pump on the new (used) engine. All is good now and it just turned over 150,000 miles. It sucks that all the hard work and time I put into maintaining my parents car was completely destroyed by the poor engineering and placement of a $70 water pump. Why didn't Ford just drive the water pump with a pulley and belt on the backside of the exhaust cam like all of the Duratec 30 engines?!

    The place that needs to be checked is the fitting seal between the manifold and CAT and the CAT back portion of the exhaust, which is right under the transmission tunnel or near it in most cars (it is possible for gas to come up through the shift boot.) One reason I suggest this is that, if most of the complaints are from law enforcement this would be very problematic as they often need to sit in the vehicle stationary with the engine running, however for most common buyers the airflow under the car would carry the gas away. I am fairly certain, my 2016 Mustang GT was leaking exhaust this way - (mind you I changed the exhaust to an aftermarket exhaust within 2000 miles and the problem went away, I believe the fix happened because new gaskets and sealant was put on during the change.)

    you also forgot about the water pump with the 3.5 and 3.7 engines. ford buried it in the block, and it is an 8-10 hour job to replace, costing $1400-$2000. if it fails and leaks, it puts coolant into the oil, and thus destroys the engine.

    Ford has a problem with defective ac evaporators in their Mustangs. They leak all the freon out within 3 weeks. Ford does a fake repair of putting stop leak in it to seal it, but it’s only temporary and the freon leaks all out again after a short while. To replace the evaporator requires removing the entire dash from the car. This happened to my spouse’s new ‘16 Mustang and the same exact thing also happened to a coworker that just bought an new ‘18 Mustang. It’s happening to a lot of Mustang buyers

    @kens97sto171 5 років тому

    I actually kind of agree with Ford about the manifold, if you got a manifold leak you are very likely going to hear it, or one at the first flex joint. my guess is that the exhaust fumes are being pulled in at the back of the vehicle from the exhaust pipe. Vehicles that have a large flat back such as most SUVs create a significant amount of vacuum directly behind the vehicle. If the exhaust is not dispersing the gas effectively it could be being sucked up and pulled back into the vehicle through the tailgate and through some of the parts you showed under the bumper. It could be as simple as extending the tailpipe out slightly, or angling them down etc. I would think bringing fresh air in from the outside usually that intake vent is right at the base of the windshield, if you have the HVAC set to fresh air and the fan is going it should create positive airflow inside the vehicle preventing any exhaust from entering. Very strange problem, I definitely agree with you about getting a detector to make sure that there is not a problem with your particular vehicle.

      That makes no sense whatsoever, would not change at all the air route and CO is not filtered out like this!
      Further:
      1) The air box is plenty large enough on the Explorer, there are no gains to be had here.
      2) It is ill advised to put an oiled filter from any brand including K&N, on any vehicle that has a MAF or other sensor in the intake which will be slowly coated with oil from the filter.

    I've owned one Ford in my entire life. A 2005 Mustang purchased new in January 2005. Within 1 month the transmission (5 speed auto) wouldn't shift right (would jump from from 1st to 3rd, reverse wouldn't engage,repaired under warranty), the filler neck had a problem were the nozzle would think the tank is full. This forced me to have to turn the nozzle upside down. The Harmonic balancer started to come apart and needed replacement (under warranty). The shift selector cover jammed and broke. The radiator cap wouldn't seal properly (fixed on my own with a Stant aftermarket cap), the drive by wire throttle had a very pronounced and very annoying delay in response when hitting the gas pedal. I finally dumped it on a friend of mine at 33,000 miles (4 1/2 years later) . Needles to say I will NEVER buy another Ford. In contrast, I replaced that Mustang, in 2009, with a 1991 Lexus LS400 that had 287,000 miles thinking I would drive it "for a year or so, or until it blows up". Guess what, at 395,000 current mileage I've had to replace (all within the last year) power steering rack , alternator , and power steering pump. The rest has been scheduled maintenance. That's it. about Lexus for life.

      I have a 2011. It has 120K miles now. It’s been a great vehicle. I had to replace a passenger side half shaft. The front window trim will sometimes vibrate and cause a buzzing sound…a bit annoying, but nothing major to get alarmed over. My biggest issue was the rear lift door factory caulking that is painted over. After a good rain storm, I would find my entire spare tire soaking in water and couldn’t figure out where the water was coming from (do a search on UA-cam). It’s a fairly common problem. The rain water enters up near the steel lift hinges and leaks down through the inner rear door frame and into the spare tire pan. You have to get a screwdriver and pry the old factory caulk out and replace it up at the top. You can by some high quality“black” automotive sealant to replace the bad stuff. I honestly couldn’t find how the water was entering, but tearing out the old caulk and re-sealing it fixed the problem. Other than that issue, the return vent actuators are notorious for going out. I’ve replaced (3) of them. The little plastic gears tend to strip out. Ford should have made them stronger.

    I have been fighting with Ford Canada about this exact issue. Within a few days of owning my 2017 Explorer, I experienced exhaust fumes in the cabin and measured CO levels around 20ppm. The dealership found a defective vent under the rear bumper that was allowing exhaust back into the vehicle. Since the customer satisfaction service was completed, CO levels have dropped but they disabled re-circulation mode (which I use all the time) and made defrosting on remote start all but useless. I would never recommend Ford products to any one. Ford refuses to help beyond the recommended service. I am looking at trade options but the value has dropped by 30% leaving me on the hook for the negative equity. Thanks Ford. Never again!

    Thanks for doing this video and bringing a serious issue to everyone's attention. This is precisely the reason why I always drive with at least the driver's door window open. At least a crack anyway because you never know. I like to have some fresh air entering the vehicle at all times and this is what I do. You don't always know if you have a leak in your exhaust or if a rubber plug/grommet has dropped off the vehicle. Just my thing.It is amazing that Ford continues to operate in a manner that is questionable and knowing about certain defects and deficiencies that can cause death with their vehicles. I guess they forgot about the disaster regarding the Pinto in the 1970's and their exploding fuel tanks. The cost to fix this was somewhere under $10 per unit plus the cost of recalling each vehicle that left the factory.I guess Ford also forgot about the horrendous steering columns they produced where the gearshift dropped out of Park. This happened with every Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, and Truck with a gearshift mounted steering column and they knew about that it as far back as the late 1950's. They continued to produce that same type of column in all of their vehicles for the next 20 years. It wasn't until 1980 when it was completely redesigned. Lots of people were run over and killed and it took Government pressure for Ford to do something about it. Only a small number of vehicles were actually repaired but the rest were not. Ford was able to get away with NOT fixing any more columns in a mass recall by issuing owners with a "Warning Label" that was to be placed on the dashboard. Ford complained that if they were to recall every vehicle, it would tie up their service bays at every dealership in North America for the next 20 years. I remember my Dad receiving his warning label and it was placed on the steering column. A complete disgrace! This actually happened to my Dad twice in his 1975 Torino. Luckily no one was hurt but from then on, before shifting to Park, he would put it in Neutral, set the brake, and then into Park. Google "Runaway Ford" if you want to find out more. Absolutely shocking.

      Let's not leave out their peeling white paint problems, plastic intake manifolds that cracked, blend door actuators that fail and are secreted deep inside in the dash, failing power window regulators, failing steering shafts, failing timing chains, shooting spark plugs, etc.....

    • @81zed

      Marvin: Peeling paint has been a problem that has plagued auto manufacturers before. The problem lies in the type of primer used on the assembly line and a different paint formulation. GM had this problem as well but only with certain colours. In my case, my 2 tone Chevy truck (white and blue) the white paint was fine but the blue came off in sheets while rinsing off with a garden hose. Fixed under warranty. Plastic being used under the hood is not a good idea either as my plastic intake on my Safari is cracked. Expensive to replace. Nothing but crap being produced now and the consumer is replacing vehicles like they would with last years cell phone or Playstation.

    Heres a cool story that you could cover: in 2000-2004 ford taurus sedan and wagons where known for having springs break out of the blue a perce the tire causing a flat rather instantly. I have a personel experince with this problem the sad part is had i not brought the car to my mechanic and he told mr ford did recall this but only put a peace of metal between tge spring and tire to prevent the tire from popping but not fix the springs

      It was part of several ntsbinvestigations and a federal lawsuit. As I recall ford successfully proved that most if not all claims the rear cargo area had been modified (holes drilled) allowing the co in and stock they get none. After hearing all this my dad stuck several co monitors in my moms explorer with readings of zero same with 4 other explorers I know of

    I had a 2002 Civic Si with a terrible exhaust leak (bought brand new) -- had all the symptoms you described -- headache, fatigue, vision problems, etc. It was terrible. HONDA DID NOTHING. The dealership even smelled the exhaust fumes in the car but couldn't find they leak, so they were like, "OK -- come get your car -- it's ready". Dicks. I ended up trading the car in shortly after anyway.

    unfortunately corporate thinking entails maximizing profit and minimizing cost and they do this at any expense (i.e. cheap materials, shoddy design etc). And they deny deny deny any repercussions of their design/corner cutting...unless the gov't is involved. People need to arm themselves with info like this because corporations do not advocate in any way for you.... just for your money

    I'm dealing with quite the problem with my 2014 Chevrolet impala Lt. Has to do with the blind spot monitoring system shorting out. The car goes nuts no gauges air bags could lose steering. I have video of the car going nuts. All because of a blindspot system. My car has been "fixed" under special coverage. Yet it's been sitting at a gm dealership for 2 months for issues I believe is related to the shorting out of the blindspot system. This is scary and if you dont know that this special coverage is available the dealership will charge you over 1800 bucks to fix and btw they have no parts to fix. I just lucked out getting the kit to fix the system. I believe vehicles affected are 2013-2017 Chevrolet Cruze, 2013-2017 GMC Acadia, 2014-2015 Chevrolet impala.

    I own a 2014 explorer. I know you mentioned carbon monoxide is odorless, but when its from the exhaust, you can smell it. Mine will knock you out and it is not from the nonsense plugs that they say are the cause. When I turn my heater on, you can smell it! When I hit the recirculation button, it goes away. First time, I took a nap on the road in the winter. I thought I was gonna die! Head pounding, feeling like I was gonna pass out. I remembered a story of these having issues. Could not believe it. Tested it, and my co2 tester went off (no level). Now I bought mine used. They told me there isn't a recall. I'm stuck. I don't see or hear a cracked exhaust manifold. Don't know how its getting in the heater system. Can you help? Thank you!

    I'm wondering why a $30 product is being offered when you can get the ASA carbon monoxide detectors that pilots have used for decades from any aviation store for $5?
    Sorry... I have a '15 Explorer and I'm just a bit skeptical of the intent of this video given the low incident numbers involved... and a solution being offered that is a possible revenue source.

    • @PsychoFisho
      @PsychoFisho 5 років тому +1

      Based on the data published, it would have to be at least 50ppm to detect on the ASA. This is a chemical CO detector with a very short lifespan. Not good for in-car use. Airplane only, and swapped out frequently.

    You would hear if the manifolds are leaking, if you don’t hear the exhaust tipping and tapping then they are fine, the car just builds up with carbon dioxide from passengers breathing and running the hvac system in recirculate mode not a carbon monoxide leak

    I got rear ended pretty hard in my Dodge Magnum. I could not believe how hard I got hit versus how little damage was done. The inspector sucked. I did decide to do the repairs myself. The tailgate didn’t want it close properly. The lower opening/threshold was pushed in maybe 1 1/2”, so I put a bottle jack against the far side of the tire well and jacked the sill back into place, or so I thought. Didn’t realize I had pushed it up just a little bit. Even though water spray doesn’t get in no matter how hard I try, and even in the dark with a bright flashlight trying to find leaks, I could find none, but could hear an air leak under hard acceleration, and smell strong fumes after letting off throttle. I tried over and over to find the leak but could find none. I have since replaced the bumper cover and notice the same things they showed in this video. Seeing this video reminded me of those vents on the sides of the bumper behind the rear wheels. One of mine is missing. All grommets seem to be in place. And as I’ve refined the issue, the smell has decreased a lot. But then when they mentioned leaky exhaust manifolds, it reminded me of my 1968 Country Squire with the 390 and leaky manifolds, and the similar smell. Damn. And I even asked the dealership about the smell. Plus the strong smell of gasoline sometimes. Has anyone ever carried gasoline in the back or trunk or their car? No matter how hard you try to contain it, the smell still seems to get into the vehicle. On the Chrysler Lx cars, the gas tank is under the back seat. Access is through two big rings that seal the gas tank with o-rings, maybe 4-5” across, one on either side of the trans tunnel. Knowing how hard it is to keep fuel fumes at bay, does anyone really believe that a simple o-ring and will keep the smell of fuel away? On top of that, the sealing ring sits at an angle to match the slant of the rear seat. I’ve seen on you tube where people went to replace the regulator or fuel pump, opened the rings, and fuel spilled onto the seat frame. The fuel level was ABOVE the level of the opening on the rear half. Problem waiting to happen? You bet. Smell of fuel in the back of my car. You bet. Is Chrysler going to deny everything and make you think you are crazy before you learn for yourself that you were right all along. You bet.

      LegitStreetCars LegitStreetCars I’ve been going through some intense nightmares with my 2013 Ford Explorer XLT, in addition to the exhaust issue.

    We use these at work. After much complaining we finally took them to the local fire department and found they had up to 30ppm in the cabin. Should be 0ppm. As for the CO detectors reading 100ppm or higher, i think thats a little to high a little too late. It should be much lower.

    Never had this problem with mine, only complaint I have is the horrible fuel economy I wasn’t expecting much with the V6 and AWD but this thing is getting about the same MPG as my old chevy Tahoe with the 5.7 vorte. I was expecting to average around 20-22 with a light foot on the accelerator, even with conservative driving the best MPG I get is about 17. Not the worst but with how small the gas tank is in these vehicles I believe about 19 gallons I sure do spend a lot of time at the gas station filling up.
