Christmas Kueh Pi Tee - with Kayanoya

  • Here’s a simple Japanese style Kueh Pi Tee concept you can do this festive season. The filling is simple yet full of flavour because I am using a very special dashi made from dried Japanese shrimp, kelp and scallops which gives a delicate crustacean taste. This Shrimp dashi from Kayanoya (bit.ly/ShrimpD...) is no artificial flavors and preservatives that will really simplify the cooking process.
    To make it festive, I filled the Pi Tee cups with seaweed, crabsticks and Ikura which will not only make it delicious but also very Instagram worthy!
    The dashi stock powder comes in convenient satchets that you can simply simmer in water to make a lovely stock or soup. Alternatively, you can open the satchet and add the dashi powder directly to your dishes.
    They also make a variety of other flavours like Chicken, Mushroom and, of course a classic Dashi ubiquitous in many Japanese recipes.

    [Ingredients]
    Jicama 600g
    Carrots 150g
    Garlic 4 cloves
    Kayanoya Original Shrimp Stock Powder 3 packs
    Soya sauce 2 Tbsp
    Mirin 3 Tbsp
    White pepper 1/2 teaspooon
    [Method]
    Slice jicama to 6mm batonettes
    Shred carrots
    Place 500ml water and add 2 packs of Kayanoya Original Shrimp Stock Powder in a saucepan. Bring water to a simmer over medium heat. Cook for 4mins and remove packs
    Mince garlic
    Add oil to pot and fry garlic till fragrant
    Add jicama and carrots and toss to evenly coat the vegetables
    Add stock and simmer for 10mins
    Add the rest of seasoning and adjust to taste.
    Simmer till jicama is just soft but still crunchy
    Fill Kueh Pie Tee cups with seaweed, crab sticks, jicama, wakame seaweed and ikura. Top with garlic chilli sauce

    I prefer the original dashi dried one soak in hot water or overnight wow taste v good ... anyway tks for the infor will try out the new recipe kueh Pi Tee GB have a Merry Xmas Dr.Tay 😀

    When comes to eating "pie tee ", you must not talk to anyone. Focus on the pie tee and open your mouth as wide as possible... one crunch... all the taste exploded your taste buds and it's so so yummy.
    That's how a woman should eat them. And one is not enough. Try 6.

      It was available in Takashimaya back in 2021 but not sure now. You can still give it a try.

    After all the trouble Creating an unusual filling what turn me off that you using an imitation crab should have use a real crab meat dont you think So ❤

      Well, it is not easy to get real crab meat of the same size, shape and look. And its more expensive!
