I have thoroughly enjoyed your vacation series and am thrilled to see you stayed in my hometown on your way home. I am not suprised the airport took good care of you. My grandpa leased the land on west edge of the runway and I spent countless hours there plowing the dirt and hoping a plane would show up. The daydreams of flying I imagined have never gone away. Safe travels.
This makes me so happy to hear, thx for watching, glad you enjoyed them!! I love to hear these personal stories about place we visit, thx for sharing. The folks at Alva were super nice and didn't even charges us for the hangar overnight out of the nasty t-storms. We will be back if ever that way again, fly safe!
Thank you! For sure it's one of those sights that is more amazing from the air. You get a better appreciation for the scale and impact when you also see the big debris field north of the main crater along the way.
Yep, amazing views, and I think you got the better perspective of Meteor Crater than doing it at ground level. Curious about the weather...did you stop essentially as close to the storms as you could stomach or was it a matter of need fuel, might as well stop for the night while on the ground?
agree, we got to see the debris field north of flagstaff too as a result of pieces that broke off during re-entry, little mini craters everywhere. you really get a a much better sense of size of this event from a plane and can see it's not just the main impact crater, but a much bigger event scattered over a 100 sq miles. fuel was the limiting factor but the location in OK was strategic to stay north of the convective stuff. we had planned to stay the night if needed and was the right call given the weather to the east. EP 7 will REALLY highlight the wx, and the fam's first experience with IFR flying and instrument landing, stay tuned!
thanks for watching and the kind words. Yes, in his defense, it had been a long trip and everyone was ready to be home and out of the plane. In hindsight, it was a bit much to pack into 10 days. Check out earlier episodes where I'm schooling him, he is paying better attention! He also helped a lot with radios, GPS, and Flt Plans that tended to end up on the cutting room floor for most videos. So all in all, a good right-seater :)
@@6ZeroAlpha Understood. It was unfair to form a judgement based on one video and I look forward to watching the others. Thanks *very* much for sharing your trip. It is wonderful to see people using their planes for this kind of travel. Please keep it up!

I used to live in flagstaff Arizona. Never looked at the meteor crater from this angle. Amazing!

Nice views. Thanks very much. Sorry that your right-seater is so preoccupied with the phone, though. ;-)
