Heenan’s ability on the mic was incredible, as was his ability to completely inhabit his character. That photo was devastating and I refuse to remember him like that, as we all should.
I see Virgil once a year at flea markets selling memorabilia and autographed pics. One time I was wearing a walking boot recovering from a broken foot and as I passed his booth he stopped me and we had a chat about a time he had to have ankle surgery and Vince wouldn’t pay for it and it cost over $100;000 dollars. I didn’t buy anything from him that day or any other day we crossed paths but it was nice of Virgil to share a story from his past for free lol.
I'm from Georgia and I love both wrestling and college football and I didn't realize Tony Schivone was the commentator until I got the network and heard him react and connected the dots. Tbf I hadn't watched WCW in close to 15 years when I rewatched it but yeah I was really stoked to figure that one out.
You know a lot of the WCCW stars from Texas went on to become a bigger names in WCW and WWE? Chris Adams, Scott Hall, The Harlem Heat, Stunning Steve "blondie" Austin, The Dingo Warrior aka Ultimate Warrior, Ric Flair, Ted Debiasi (when the Crockett regional gang team up to fight Vince), MickFoley, Terry Taylor, The Undertaker and others. Meng's uncles wrestled for WCW.
For the "every wrestler in the 'what happened to that wrestler intro" video can it just be an hours long stream where Adam needs to sing the song till each wrestler is mentioned. And then he sings the song again, 12 days of Christmas style.
You forgot to mention Virgil's appearances on AEW as "Soul Train Jones" for Chris Jericho's brilliant vignettes. Edit: Unless the Olive Garden thing was a reference to his promo in AEW. In that case, well played. Well played indeed. Additional edit: Or maybe that Game Vault thing, which was a reference to the AEW promo. That would be Inception-level referencing.
I didnt know at the time that it was kind of a joke, but I saw Virgil at a local mall about 8 yrs ago sitting at a table selling autographed pictures for $20 a piece. I was down FOR IT.
@@thee_man I’m in Baltimore too. I saw him at Marley Station Mall but a lot more than 8 years ago. It has to be at least 13 or 14 years. Hi neighbor! 😀
Just an idea, maybe what happened to that wrestler for the Ring of Honor first PURE championship tourney? I haven't seen much of it but it would be interesting to see where everyone is. Just a thought 🤷♂️
I didn't think at first for Flairs last match at 73 I was thinking Hogan but what about Sting they wrestled on the first and last Nitro so why not Flairs Swan song I think they both would love and it will become a trivia question cause Arn can't health Hogan I think the same maybe Tully Blanchard or what would be cool is Nikita have him shave his head break out his chain and USSR GEAR
What happened to every member in some early New Japan stables perhaps ? Although you guys seem to have cooled on the New Japan coverage in general, sadly.
Poor poor virgil, working at the Rogers flea market in ohio selling his pics and telling tall tales. Seen him there many times, he is from pittsburgh, a mere hour and a half drive
Blokes you never heard of...like Chris Adams? I'm fairly sure most of the world by this time had heard of and knew about Austin 3:16 and at this point who trained him.
"Daunted by the task." That is complete and utter PS. Just an excuse. Eric needed to step back from micromanaging the shows (and Hulk's ego), and put in a couple of trusted hands to take over the production of the shows. Now, if he's so out of his depth that he doesn't know how to manage the company, and not directly manage the shows,, then he's an idiot.
I'm curious what kind of sports bar Scott Steiner wants to open up. Will it be wrestling themed or just one that he'll put his name on and follow the general aesthetic of most sports bars. A church with a big name caught in an embezzlement scandal? Color me shocked. Wonder if it has anything to do with that wrestling obsessed preacher from a couple years back who did that interview with Taker. I know he had other stuff he was doing with Dibiase and Sting as well. Why they chose Buff Bagwell is beyond me. Booker and one of the cruiserweights could have made some magic happen. Well, it was probably self-sabotage by WWE but whatever. I assume Juventud's mask situation was dealt with in a similar way to Rey's. Keep Sting out of the ring, hopefully.
Why does everybody call people like Michael Cole and JR announcers they're not announcers they do not announce people's names when they come out they are commentators they comment during the match there's a difference when did we change and start calling them announcers when that ain't even their job and announcer is somebody like Howard Finkel not Michael Cole or JR just saying
That photo of Bobby Heenan in his final years breaks my fkn heart
The fact the best talker in the business lost his ability to speak at all is absolutely heartbreaking
Heenan’s ability on the mic was incredible, as was his ability to completely inhabit his character. That photo was devastating and I refuse to remember him like that, as we all should.
He just looks so unrecognizable from the weasel we all know, loved and loathed.
Yeah I didn't know it was him at first so sad man....
Unrecognizable! Horrible illness!
Shows how great Jericho is that he was on the first episode of both Thunder, Smackdown and freaking Dynamite 20 years later!
The sheer cruelty of an amazing speaker and wordsmith like Bobby Heenan getting throat cancer and losing the ability to talk is just heartwrenching.
Absolutely 😢
I respected and miss that gentleman more then half of my family I lost over the years
I REALLY missed this series. Glad it's back (even though I imagine finding topics would be hard.)

Back in the nineties, Bischoff was concerned about running one extra show a week. His mind must be absolutely blown to smithereens these days 🤣

How many times did he take $10 from you?

It’s been hard living without this theme song for the past few months.

Says nobody heard of Chris Adams, he was a star in WCCW in the 80’s. He was the first man to use the super kick as a finish, and named it that.
If I remember right, he was the one who done the blinded angle with Gorgeous Gino.
I'm from Georgia and I love both wrestling and college football and I didn't realize Tony Schivone was the commentator until I got the network and heard him react and connected the dots. Love how they just tiptoed around Hogan's part, like "nope, this has been beaten to death already"
Gentleman Chris Adams? The innovator of the Super Kick? Yes. THAT one.
Rip to all the wrestling brothers and sisters we've lost ☮️🕊️
“Every Wrestler, first off, the announcer.”
It's incredible how many stars are on this card, you could make an entire wrestling roster using only those who were on this first Thunder.
The dog faced gremlin is still one of the coolest and funniest nicknames for any wrestler ever

So "The Diamond Stud" and "Big Bubba Rodgers" are just former WWE guys. Revisionist history is amazing.

The debuts of raw, smackdown, nitro and thunder, I remember them all. Wow, 😂🤣
