Hey Joe! Great video as always. I honestly look forward to Thursdays so I can keep tabs on where you are and how things are going. I have a couple of questions if you have a little time to answer? What was the bike that you were going to go and check out and what was the asking price? You seem to get rotisserie chickens a lot. Do you just eat the whole thing or do you do something with it like make sandwiches or a soup stock? And how do you transport it and keep it at a reasonable temperature? Again, thank you for posting so much. I look to you and how you handle hardship on the road. I'm making the move to full time motorcycle travel soon myself, and I look up to you as a example of how to live the life right. Cheers from Massachusetts!
It was a 95 evo Electra glide. The lady was asking something ridiculously low for the condition it was (or so it appeared) for an almost 30 yr old bike to only have 900 miles, raises a lot of questions… but it seemed like a good deal
I’ll usually get some pesto sauce or salsa for the chicken since I’m trying to eat low carb. Good question, they’ll usually stay good at room temperature for 12-24 hrs, unless you buy them cold in which case, about a day and half. One chicken’ll usually last the day
@@dirtymotorcyclevagabond ugh man! That's a bummer! A deal like that's almost too good to be true but when the time right the right bike will come along.

I guess if it wasn't for bad luck you'd have no luck at all!! looks like you've already experienced most of the problems on the ST1300, clutch slave cylinder and fuel pump! I took my 2005 ST off the road because of a coolant leak. I have other bikes so i wasn't in a rush to repair it. By the time i went to work on it several months later, the clutch slave had failed. It was a PITA to change unless you have hands the same size as GI Joe. I got the slave fixed and when putting everything back together, i found the main swingarm threads where the rear brake caliper bolt goes in the swingarm had been previously stripped and i could not torque it anywhere near spec. I had to source a replacement swing arm. After finding one and replacing it on the bike (another PITA job) i noticed there was an oil leak on the front forks. So I ordered parts and waited 3 weeks for them to come in. Once the fork seals came in I went to start the bike to move it before to starting to take the forks off, I found it wouldn't start, the OEM fuel pump had quit. I replaced that with a Quantum pump which everyone on the ST1300 forum said was a great pump so i'm a little concerned seeing the issues you had so soon after changing it out at Saddletramps. One thing that the forum guys said was that the fuel lines that came with the pump from Quantum were not rated for gasoline and can swell up and cause the pump to fail. Not sure if you used their lines or re-used the originals from Honda but could that have been part of the early failure? Hopefully Quantum either sent you a replacement pump as a spare or refunded you. Anyway safe travels bud, I've subscribed and am enjoying the channel for sure and look forward to your next upload. Oh yeah I still haven't fixed the original coolant leak on the bike either!!!
Sounds about right! Lol. Yeah, I’d heard that about the lines too and used the stock ones. Still she quit. Think it was due to excessive rust clogging the filter and making the pump work harder. Used a new oem pump this time after cleaning the upper and lower tanks. Hope she runs
Joe I have a Yamaha FJR 1300 with 80000 miles and still running excellent I drive it everyday in the summer living in Alaska limits that Lol. Man this thing hauls a load and is easy to work on. I can’t recommend the FJR enough. But I hope to get a Goldwing next. I hope your mom stays healthy. When are you back to Mexico?
Hey Joe, thanks for the videos man they're amazing! Really enjoying the content a real cultural motorcycling journey. That Honda's been a pain in the arse at times hey..stay safe man!
If that sending unit has the original pump still on it be sure you keep a spare because they had a common issue with overheating and stop pumping until cooling off, mainly during slower speed town/city driving, if not failing all together. Replaced mine with a cheep ebay one 2 years and 30k later still going strong, not worth taking any chances when a spair onr only cost maybe $20, which it sounds like you might already have covered. Good luck and safe travels.
@@dirtymotorcyclevagabond love the content, hope to one day be able to hit Mexico for a couple of months, though that may be a decade or so away at this point. Thanks a lot
Joe, glad you are back on the road. Curious why your fuel pumps go out all the time. I wonder if you have bad and plugged fuel filters, straining your fuel pumps. Getting dirty gas is not uncommon, changing your fuel filters might help. Just a thought! Safe travels!
@@dirtymotorcyclevagabond, yes that will do it. You can clean it by slushing it with gravel or pebbles. That will take out the gross debris. That, and frequent fuel filter changes will keep your injectors and fuel pump working properly. Ride safe.

The fuel pumps to keep failing. Do they sell electrically or does ethanol do the damage? I remember hearing that ethanol is corrosive to some plastics when they first started putting ethanol in gasoline. A few months after they started putting that in our gas here in Pennsylvania, one of my coworkers Suzuki had a fuel pump failure… also: I have been riding Moto Guzzi’s for decades.. my fourth one was a Norge GT 1200. I was at a Moto Guzzi gathering and one of the other riders that had the same machine warned me to change the fuel filter, and not to use the original plastic see-through type filter because ethanol softens it. He suggested I switch to a metal type fuel filter that fits BMWs and he gave me the part number, which I did.. So that’s why I’m asking you if you’re a fuel pump failed electrically or something may have been damaged by ethanol?
My suspicion is that the rust inside the tanks kept clogged up the fuel filters and led to the pumps overheating. Eventually the only solution was to meticulously scrub out the upper and lower tanks. The ethanol in the gas, and a long time of sitting, definitely contributed to the corrosion inside the tanks.
Thanks Josie 😎 running better, but I’m going to try to clean out all the rust inside of the upper and lower gas tanks. I think the rust is clogging up the filter and throwing out the pumps
