How many miles/km per week on average? And then how many crossfit sessions per week? I'm curious how much activity you do vs your calorie intake.

Awesome, it's great to get this first hand information. I'm having a riot trail running again after taking 25 years off. Just 4 months of training and trail running in zone 2 unbelievable at 64 ❤

Over the past five years, I've definitely (and somewhat surprisingly) become an early morning runner/exerciser. Current routine has my up at 5am during the week (6am on weekends) so I can hit the 6:45 CrossFit class or get out for a run before work. Fully agree with you that it feels so much better throughout the day when you've already gotten your workout in but the main reason I do it is I find it much more difficult to disengage from work in the PM to ensure I get to the box on time for a class so it's best for me to get my workout in first thing before the work has a chance to mess up my plan.
Thanks for sharing your pre-run routine. I really need to start doing something similar as I have the bad (or at least not good) habit of just using the first kilometer of my run be the warm-up for the remaining distance.

I use to run about 4:00 in the morning and it was such a beautiful time of the day. Sunrise, bird chirping and just so quite with no traffic. I have had to give up running due to my knees but I would love the early morning runs. I love to get a workout in early in the morning cuz it is so satisfying and just gets your body moving for the day.

I’m one of those people that loves to get up early everyday. Workday means gym session before work, and run in the afternoon/early evening after work. Weekend is early gym lift, then a couple hour break with some good fuel for a run, just after or as the sun is coming up.

Very much a morning runner. Always liked getting sessions done before breakfast, as you say it sets you up fort he day. Only recently transitioned to running as a “sport” and have learnt that morning running can be hazardous. Dark skies + uneven pavements = broken ankle. But coming back from that is a new challenge I’m looking forward to confronting when I get the go ahead. I’ve become an ace ski erg-er in the last few weeks 😂

  • @rmjames83

I’m a bit of a weirdo-I do love getting up real early & “running into the day” as the sun rises-I reckon you can’t beat it!
I’ve also spent a lot of time like you said working out what works & what doesn’t fuel wise pre run. Being able to get some good fueling in pre runs (while balancing what can be digested/sits well…a lot of experimenting) has been a game changer for me. I’ve found well fuelled runs feel so much better, (& believe it or not) feel less of a mental struggle (especially on long runs). I’m fairly sure it has helped with faster recovery from runs too. My biggest struggle is being able to eat AFTER a run😂Not sure if it’s a myth or not but was told that a banana (after a meal) pre run helps with keeping the tummy in check🤷🏻‍♀️

I struggle with warming up properly before a run, so sometimes my shins starts hurting. And it varies greatly just from day to day - so I can do the same warmup and have vastly different soreness in my shins. I would love some extra shin warmups ideas to do before a run.

I love running just as it’s light enough to go. We live in the country so i run on the roads. Always wear bright color clothing so drivers can see me. The only thing that worries me are creatures, lol….raccoons, opossums and skunks. I’ve come across them quite a few times. 😂…love fasted cardio, and absolutely must have my coffee before I head out. If I wake up at 5, Ive slept in lol…thanks for your videos and programming.

That's a lot of sodium, and the human body only needs about 2300 grams daily. To avoid shocking your system and experiencing headaches and high blood pressure, it's better to sip sodium fluids throughout the day instead of consuming too much sodium at once, especially considering your health concerns. By consuming processed foods, you are already exceeding your daily sodium requirement on average. Adding pinches of Himalayan salt to your food throughout the day is a healthier option.
