Three simultaneous proportions: just like Gothic cathedrals' three layers or arches in different proportions: arcade, triforium, clerestory. Architectural music and musical architecture.
Thanks for the appreciation! It defiantly takes a long time. I hope you enjoy them and perhaps use them, should you teach music. They are designed with teaching in mind. I was very upset one time when I was required to take two down (different pieces) by a record label. One day I will redo them with a different recordings.
Jordan Alexander Key that’s a real shame, you’d think they would approve if it’s for educational purposes... at any rate thanks for your transcriptions and other videos, I’m a fan! 🤓
@@JordanAlexanderKey Fantastic video!!! I think UA-cam requires that you credit the artists in the recording... otherwise you might have to take it down...
This is such a great example for how the canon works. Thank you for sharing your talent! I am using this for my teaching now that we are all online. Very impressed!
Thanks! I am glad you are finding it useful. I always wanted something like this when I was a student, so I made it when I became a teacher. Check out my full channel for some other examples of Augenmusik and stay tuned for more (currently working on "la harpe de melodie")! Links to the full critical edition I made can be found in the information section below the video. The full edition has more information than what is in the video.
You're welcome! I'm glad you like it. You might also like this video (ua-cam.com/video/R9wl1XqV6Nk/v-deo.html), if you liked this one. I am trying to do a series of Augen Music, but it takes quite a while, and one of my videos was blocked on UA-cam because of Universal Music, so I have to remake it with a different recording. I used Vegas Pro for the animations. It was a lot of tedious work. To make the transcription, I used a self-modified version of Sibelius 7.
This is not specified. The poems indicate that the piece is certainly canonic, however. This is part of the riddle of the piece: one must discover the construction of the canon for themselves. This is done by testing likely resolutions and checking these resolutions with the accepted rules of counterpoint. If the counterpoint works, then the canon is correctly solved (there might be multiple solutions - this might be part of the intentional construction); if the counterpoint does not work, then you have not found the correct solution (or the piece does not follow the expected rules of counterpoint - unlikely).
Indeed! It is currently in the works. It will be the last one to complete the medieval Augenmusik series (unless you know of others from the 14th and early 15th century, please let me know): Tout par compas, en la maison dedelus, la harpe de melodie, and belle bonne sage. The score edition with translation is complete, and I am currently putting together the animation. Stay tuned!
@@topologyrob I have not done this with the manuscripts, but that would be fun. You can see a different animation for Machaut's famous canon on my channel. I have done manuscript videos like this for nearly all the famous works of augenmusik like this (see the playlist on my channel called "Augenmusik")

I so admire, and envy, your patience in making these transcriptions and videos.

Gorgeous and inspiring. Thank you so much for posting this! A gift!
The most heavily constructed, speculative, compositions interestingly often turn out to be the most edifying ones. Great video realisation, thank you!
Beautiful illumination.
Amazing example of Ars Subtilior. And amazing visualisation. Really great. Thanks!
You've enlightened us once more, good man.
Excellent! I am glad you enjoyed. The videos are a lot of work; it warms my heart to know people get a lot out of them.
What an in incredible material for music classes. Thanks.
The best scrolling process on UA-cam ever
Absolument remarquable! merci beaucoup ...
The composer, I am sure, would be proud of your work
Hypnotique et merveilleux ce rondeau ! Avez vous un support DVD , c'est canon ! c'est un canon universel !
So helpful in unveiling the ingenuity of this manuscript - thanks
You are most welcome! I am glad it was helpful.
Amazing edition!! Thank you very much.

@@JordanAlexanderKey Yes! I wanted it as a student too so THANK YOU for creating it for my students! Love your other clips too.

Amazing!!!
Who are the performers?
Brilliant job, and i would like to ask how to know the position where the canon begins?

Genius!
No information about the recording?
Amazing result! Thank you! Can you let us know, who are the performers of this particular recording?
It seems like the Ensemble Organum with higher pitch
Maravilhoso!
May we expect a “Belle, bonne, sage” from you in the future?
