The plum bolt makes it a post war refurb Soviet capture. Look for vodka stains. Actually, seems quite nice. Imagine it might be a handful in 8 X 57 though, at least off the bench with hearty loads.
I have a 1909 M-96 Guataf non-sportorized, it shots like a dream, great rifle. I am not familiar with the sportorized versions. I would have to think they have good bones for project guns : ).
Personally, I'd work with the sights already on the rifle; especially considering the situation in the Far Frigid North. Though, GunGeek is quite the mechanical wizard, when working with and then shooting the old rifles.
That one is in nice shape. I've been tempted to get one of these but the fixed sights kinda put me off.
I like those old military sights too.
