    As a Vikings' fan, I'm heavily biased but the guy was simply incredible in his prime. There were times where he would rush for 1, -2, 3 yards, then boom, 80 yard TD. He ran violently and had plenty of speed. Last non QB to win the MVP award btw. He should be a first ballot HOF.

      @ernestomoreno4409 exactly. Ap would go for 4,4,18,6,7,34,4,14,22,96,33,66. His rush line always looked like that. Had all the gears. The power, and vison. He was as good as the older folks talk about jim brown being. Brown, Ap, and Barry are the best the position has ever had

    Peak Adrian has an argument to be in the conversation as the greatest running back of all time. He had it all. Speed, agility, and strength. Not only that, he played for a Vikings team that never had a good passing game, so the defense was stacked against him.

    Being from Minnesota, naturally I grew up to be a Vikings fan, despite all of the ups and downs it entails. Being born in 1980 meant that the glory years of Bud Grant, the Purple People Eaters, and four Super Bowls were behind me, but I also was able to witness some great moments. Moments such as the infamous benching of GOAT Joe Montana in the 1987 playoffs, the 21 sacks by Chris Doleman in 1989, the historic 1998 season and many more. Having had front row seats to all of that history of greatness, I can truly say that Adrian Peterson was the absolute highlight of all of it. I consider myself highly blessed to have been there.
    Sidenote: all the stories of the man's handshake is not hyperbole, when I met him at the Minnesota State Fair in 2012, it was like shaking hands with the jaws of a Nile Crocodile.

    AP was undeniably one of the greatest running backs thats ever lived. One thing that is talked about, but not enough in my opinion as a Vikings fan, is how absolutely terrible those Vikings teams were outside of 2009. I recall every game, for 80% or more of the game, the defense would load the entire box just to stop him, and he would still run for 100 yards on a normal day. 150+ on a good day. He was incredible. And most of the time they were trying to throw themselves back into the game after the 1st half, too. The man was unstoppable for a while. Plus just the combination of speed, power, vision, acceleration (maybe his best trait, 0 to 100 faster than anyone other than Chris Johnson I have ever seen), size, and the intangible factor of his legs running until after the whistle blew. He was relentless.

    In the last 35 Year's of football that's how far back I can remember watching Barry Sanders ,Adrian Peterson ,LaDainian Tomlinson the 3 best I seen Terrell Davis was special Edgerrin James was too there were so many great running backs but Adrian Peterson might be the best pure runner at running back I've ever seen Barry is the most elusive Adrian Peterson all around tho probably the best

    The only problem that I had against Adrian Peterson in his career was if he didn't have that incident in 2014 which made him not play all year, he probably would've hit top 3 or 2 all time records as a running back.

  • @a.westerberg6392

    It should be noted, that monstrous 2012 season came with one of the worst starting QBs of the last 30 years in the NFL. There was no threat of anything going over the top, the box was always stacked again him. Absolutely incredible.
    PS - Barry Sanders still was clearly the best RB of all time. And Im a die hard Vikings fans.

    • @TheGridironYT
      @TheGridironYT  5 місяців тому +1

      As time goes on, the RB job gets harder because everyone wants to see passing. U gotta account for that when comparing AP and Sanders.

      Barry Sanders averaged more yards per carry than Peterson despite having a much much much higher rate of first defender getting to him behind the line of scrimmage. Barry the best.

    Fumble machine in the most critical moments of the biggest games. NFCCG in 2009 he fumbled a handoff completely untouched at the 5 yard line right after the Vikings recovered a turnover in a tied game. This was the critical moment of the game where the Vikings would’ve taken the lead and won the game. He only put up great stats in meaningless games and seasons, but when he had a chance to win he didn’t make a meaningful difference. Career high in fumbles in 2009 with Favre.

    My one negative with AD / Adrian Petterson was he fumbled too much and often in crucial moments/sutuations " i still enjoyed watching his very talented athletic abilities and endeavors " i only wished all of his career been like his rookie 2007 season tho and a SB ring with vikings wouldve been nice 🎉❤

    Hated seeing him twice a year. Big, strong, fast. You had to stop him behind or at the line, because if he got in the open field you werent stopping him. Might get lucky saving a td after 40, 60 yard gain.

  • @quantomsquirrelleap

    He’s overrated. Not saying he wasn’t good, he was just overrated. He benefited from bad tackling ( at the shoulders instead of legs). It’s telling when your team doesn’t trust you with 3rd and short. Also, he had league high negative-0 yard gains his seasons he produced high rush numbers
