I love the fact that she backs up her information with FACTS. Some people are just intimidated by the truth.
The problem is that this is a cross examination of the witness. It's great to have facts, but they need to lead to some sort of relevant question that pertains to the witness's expertise. Miss Porter was just grandstanding and talking AT the witness without asking questions. So no one knows if her "facts" are accurate or if they are even relevant to the witness's expertise. So it's a waste of everyone's time.
Imagine if a pro-gun senator just listed facts about how many robberies or attacks were stopped by gun owners. It may be factual, but it's not relevant to the witness they are talking to. It would just be grandstanding for the least intelligent of observers. This is not how progress is made.

Every owners manual of every magazine fed firearm i have read actually does state the firearm can function without its magazine. It also says dont point it at anything you dont intend to shoot. It also says keep out of reach of children or those who are not comfortable or knowledgeable of it function.
Parents lock up your weapons. I do when my grand children visit. Otherwise my shot gun is by my bed. I know how to use it and I will.
Great but people don't follow rules and that's not their kids fault. Other things that are dangerous for kids are designed so kids can't use them. For example, lids on medicines or dangerous household cleaners etc that kids can't open.

She claims that since there was a grandfather clause in the bill and the lady knew that, that would be perjury because the lady said millions of Americans would be felons overnight. However, what isn't said(because she never let her answer) is how grandfather clauses require registrations. Registration is highly unconstitutional, and millions would not comply. Therefore... millions would become felons overnight. I would argue that they would actually become millions of revolutionaries overnight, but whatever.

Firearms can be used to save lives or take lives. They are used about 5X as often to save a life as take a life. If you take guns away from citizens, you will end up with more innocents dying.
So if I heard the witness right, it is lawful to own a weapon IF it was bought prior to the new law, but when the owner dies, no one else.may possess it, therefore eventually making all illegal to have.
Put them in a trust, then add trustees. Trust remains owner while trustees change, adhering to ban on transfers but allowing whoever you want to maintain possession. Simple, but should not be necessary.

Representative Porter seems to be giving a speech instead of questioning a witness giving testimony.
Why is it that perjury is an offense for the witness but it's not an offense when these lawmakers openly and blatantly lie in Congress about guns? Genuinely asking because it's confusing. How many times have we seen them lie openly and on record during hearings.
If lawmakers lie they can be punished for it. The witness in this case was clearly lying or utterly ignorant of what the proposed legislation actually said! There's no dispute on that!
