there is a different process for older jeeps with the 4.0, mine is a 91 and you need to loosen the power steering pump to get the belt off and new one on. you guys should change the title of the vid for the correct years.
Great video to have as a refresher. I've got a 1993 Cherokee Country, but my son has been using it until he gets his act together financially. I called him today and asked if he had my tension pulley kit, which he does, so that was how I found out he still hasn't replaced the tension & Belt... Using an iPhone to watch UA-cam video's reminds me of when my mother bought our first Television, with a 13'' screen... I believe I'll call him back and suggest that he brings my Cherokee back home so I can at least watch him, while giving him some pointers... Thanks again for the video, it helped me out a lot...
Warning if you have 1988. .This procedure will not work, as the power steering pump and adjuster are totally different. Thanks for posting and taking the time to do this very good. The adjust is is opposite and on the bottom of the pump.
I just finished putting in a new water pump for the first time. I mean, I'm in the middle of the job. Just tightened the water pump, thermostat housing, and heat sensor. I've been hedging on putting on the serpentine belt. I thought it was more complex. The main thing is to have it really snug, and disperse the tension equally, throughout? Make sure the grooves are all aligned? That's it? I've almost got this thing fixed. Well, unless the overheating is, after having replaced every part in the 4.0L cooling system, is that I've blown the head gasket. Thank you for sharing your skills! This was clear, helpful instruction. & it Helped a lot!
I have a 1989 Jeep Cherokee and I am not having this ease of putting the thermostat back in and loosening my serpentine belt. What year is your vehicle? I need help. 1989 Jeep Cherokee four-wheel drive as air conditioner

Seems pretty easy when you do it. I will have to give it a try now, but I expect it won't be as smooth for me lol!
Video says it's not necessary to remove the electric fan but just do it. It's easy and gives much better access.
my 1996 4.0 cherokee is exactly like the video. no need to pull anything. 14 minute job start to finish.

For the lower pulley (i think the alternator) i got under the car and pulled it around, was much easier for me
My 87 XJ 4.0 looks nothing like that
That was almost helpful
Not how my 95 tensioner is… I just can’t remember where the keeper bolt is. Next video
Mine doesn't match 😂
This video title is inaccurate. This is not how it's done for an older Cherokee from 1984 to around 1996
please go slower and speak clearly
