casey anthony is reviewed in every criminology class , i remember my teacher being like " yall didnt hear this from me but she for sure did that shit , now lets review "
@BrokensoulRider What's sad/crazy to me is that this shit happens all the time. There are so many killers and child predators and r@pist and people who go free everyday. It's so fucking messed up, you think cases like this would outrage people enough to make a change but our judicial system is FUCKED.
I was listening to this while cleaning and didn’t realize how mad I was getting till my girlfriend asked me why I was cleaning things so aggressively and looked so miserable.
i was like halfway through watching and noticed my jaw was sore and was confused about why until i realized it was because i was clenching my teeth from my pure hatred for this woman
I was cooking and my bf came in to ask why I was sounding so upset since I was just cutting veggies. This case is insane, even here in Brazil we heard about it.
Same, was washing dishes didn't realize I was either going to be burned by the water that was on to near max heat or the amount of friction I was creating from scrubbing plates with hate. Was told "you look like a serial killer who is desperately trying to get blood out of their clothes"
The part that really gets me is when shes talking to her parents. "Kaylee was lucky to have had you as grandparents" past tense. she knew very well that Kaylee was dead. No parent that has hope for their child being missing uses past tense, they use current tense because they hope the child is still alive.
What gets me is every time she opens her mouth. She doesnt care about ANYTHING or ANYONE other than her parents. Her parents put their neck out for her her whole life and she goes to a documentary talking about how her dad absolutely did it after knowing he almost committed suicide. I will never understand how can someone be so twisted and devoid of humanity
Notice how whenever the police ask her where her daughter is, she keeps saying "I haven't seen her for 5 weeks", never outright denying she knew what happened.
One additional detail: the Nickname Xanny is pronounced like “Zanny”. Casey would frequently tell people that “Zanny the Nanny” was watching Kayley. So she probably gave her Xanax to put her to sleep so she could go out.
I started this podcast originally for Charlie's role in it, and yet I am infinitely more hooked with Caleb's addition to the Thread of Red. He's got so much energy and his back and forth with everyone is great, he seems really happy to be there. Keep up the awesome work guys, thank you for making such a great choice with Caleb.
I thought I lost my nephew at a water park and I was ready to call the cops within 15 minutes of not finding him lol That apathetic phone call is INSANE
For real, my youngest, at 2 years old ran, down the street 200 ft! He was gone for literally 45 seconds and because of my panicked screaming my neighbor happened to start looking for him and found him within seconds. There's nothing more terrifying than thinking you child is gone!
My younger brother wandered off on me one time whilst in a store, and I had a full fledged panic attack for the 5-10 mins it took me to find him. I'm talking about screaming his name, I started dripping in sweat and I just was picturing some sicko lured him away to take him. From that time on whenever I was watching him and took him with me to a store I had him in the shopping cart or was holding his hand at all times.
Exactly like that should be a main evidence like who waits that long to call the police, if she truly cared she would have called as soon as she found out
This kind of stuff is one of the few things that makes me understand belief in a higher power. It’s hard knowing that this person just gets off with no punishment, I understand needing to believe there’s punishment waiting.
that little girl should be alive, getting pissed off about getting 10 political ads a day begging for her first presidential vote this year, having a normal 18 year old American's life
Exactly, that's what's so heartbreaking about young people dying. You are mourning them, but also the life they didn't get to have and the person they didn't get to become :(
Honestly its a fun dynamic where one of you wrote the script, one knows a lot about the topic, and the other one has a vague inkling on it. So much fun to see Caleb learn some facts and Isaiah accidentally spoiling things. For such a dark topic great video
The intro had me thinking "it wasn't that long ago was it?" only to find out that Caylee would be an adult now if she wasn't murdered by her mother. And then it was immediately covered in the script Caleb's reactions are so perfect for the case
Detective: “What’s her name?” Casey: “Zanny” Detective: “Your nanny’s name is Zanny? Sounds a lot like nanny.” Casey: “Maybe that’s why she became a nanny.”
God, hearing that journal entry from Casey made my blood boil. How fucking evil do you have to be to murder your own child and then write how happy you are while going out and partying?
She is self centeredness personified. her own happiness came before everything else, including the life, safety and happiness her own child (which should always come first, no matter what.) I despise that woman to my very core.
Whenever I watch these type of videos I always have satisfaction knowing they got caught in the end. But in this case it’s extremely frustrating hearing her lie and get away with it
This was the first time my husband heard about the case. He’s furious and just confused on how she’s walking free. We’ve been talking about Caylee for hours now
@@OfficerRFriendlyto be fair I and no one can confirm or deny the idea that they read beforehand but Caleb despite being older than the other two just doesn’t care about this stuff usually (according to him) and the majority of people on the planet don’t know about the case even if it was famous
@@groovyhoovy2606 You should probably entertain the fact that this is entertainment first and not a reflection of reality in the slightest. It is, by its very nature, performative. He assumed the role of the uninformed host and audience surrogate. Nothing more.
Never forget Casey Anthony waited a month to report her daughter missing but she sure remembered the number for 911 when she got her shit rocked in a bar years later. If I saw Casey Anthony in a bar, yeah I can’t say I choose to let her have any peace either.
She didn't even get her shit rocked, someone supposedly threw water at her (although it sure seemed like a spill based on her face not being wet). Which makes it so much worse - if she was being attacked, of course she should call 911. But she wasn't, she was just being a baby which makes it so much more egregious.
@@Ganymedia9 I thought she was slapped. If I was intoxicated and saw her living her life at the bar… I’m shocked that it was only a drink thrown at her face
Casey never called 911 or reported her missing. Cindy Anthony, Caylee’s grandmother did. You can hear how upset/hysterical she is in the 911 call, while Casey is annoyed and initially refused to speak to the operator.
The only justice in this case, as with the Zimmerman and OJ case, is them being complete social pariahs. Possibly the only scenarios in which I'm totally OK with the court of public opinion taking ahold of things.
that's actually a pretty popular theory iirc, that "zanny the nanny" was just what casey called it & she had drugged her daughter with xanax before killing her. some people think it was an accidental overdose but considering the google searches, idk if i buy that story personally.
@lynn4840 Chloroform is usually used to knock people out, or at least thats what Id imagine someone like Casey would think of it. I personally think Caylee started getting used to bigger and bigger doses of xanax, wasn't sleeping as long anymore, so Casey looked for another option. Found some diy chloroform recipe online, and was too stupid to know how dangerous it was. I can see her thinking "oh its simple, just like the movies". Apparently all you need is bleach and...you know what, Im not explaining that. Y'all have to fck up your own search histories if you want to know that.
I wish the phone calls had sub titles. You missed when the grandma gave Casey the phone in the beginning to talk to the police she said "I don't want to talk to them"
Oompaville's look of confusion and disgust this entire episode is how all normal people respond to this case. Also, I lost sight of my son for about 3 minutes in a clothing store and I damn near had a heart attack. Luckily he was only hiding in the racks. That is a fear I'll never forget, so I cannot imagine being calm when your child has been gone a month.
I hid from my mom in the racks like that thinking it was funny until I heard the fear in her voice calling for me. My mom never smacked us much, she left the disciplining to my dad, but that was the only time I can remember my mom smacked me. She was almost in tears and I had only hid for maybe a minute or two max, but it must have felt a hell of a lot longer to my mom
Casey Anthony is THE case of the early 2000 kids’ time. I vividly remember my parents watching CNN while this case went on and it’s stuck with me, it made me realize what death meant.
Our generation's OJ felt pretty right, but I always think of her as our generation's Karla Homolka. An evil evil woman who basically got away with it. Although Casey 100000% got away with it, entirely, and killed her own daughter which is the ultimate evil. She had loving parents who would have taken Caylee... makes my blood boil to this day.
I remember very vaguely seeing it on the news when I was like 4-6? Around that time period? I didn't really comprehend what was happening though. Crazy to think back that I was seeing some poor kid on the news my age, who should still be alive today.
Manson family murders, the pill mill pharmacies, Osama bin Laden’s life and death, and Disney conspiracies would all be fantastic episodes. Plenty of evidence and enough twists and turns to keep everything interesting.
Zanny the nanny at the time was a code word for drugging your kids with Xanax so you could party. Also, her tattoo Bella vida was Italian I believe, not Spanish. It was so validating watching Caleb see all this for the first time and come to the conclusion that we did when we went through it, because we were all gaslit like crazy from this case. I also believe some of Caylees favorite stickers were found on top if the duct tape on her mouth.
that part with the stickers is especially horrific tbh. decorating what's essentially your murder weapon with cute little stickers is fucking sick. i feel like you'd have to hate someone with all your being to do something like that -- & this is Casey towards her own daughter. jfc.
I mean they did one for Jeffy Eppy... I get that wasn't about offing his own child but this being the one where they draw the line in the sand is weird.
@@JammerAmaI think it's because so many memes came around about Epstein not offing himself. It was already around being joked about in meme culture for a few years. I don't think there was any joking about this one. Everyone was just mad.
Yeah this one's a little too recent for that to feel ok for me. And considering that even 16 years later, we STILL don't know anything about what happened to Kaylee, I don't think this is one to joke too much about, and I'm glad that the episode was respectful, and any jokes were aimed at Casey, not the situation she put her family, friends, and child into.
I am pissed to tbh. I had severe trauma as a kid and I feel nothing, but sadness for Caylee Anthony. My trauma does not compare nor would I want too. This poor soul is in a better place now while Casey will burn in hell.
I’m only 25 minutes into this so far and have never heard the story before. This is perfect for the mystery aspect of the podcast, Jackson knows every detail, Goon knows some, oompa has no idea what’s going on. Perfect blend of all the perspectives
I audibly said "oh shit!" when I saw this notification pop up. I never expected them to cover this case on the podcast. I remember being super young when my parents, particularly my mother, were so focused on it while it was happening. They were furious and shocked when the verdict came back.
I just feel so bad for the grandparents man, especially in that second jail phone call "I just wished I could be a better dad and grandpa" was so damn heartbreaking.
Also, something I wanna point out is that child pdf’s have an age range they’re attracted to, and they usually almost never look or attack outside of that age range. So for George to be inappropriate with his daughter when she was 12, and then be inappropriate with Caylee at the age of 2-3 is highly highly highly unlikely. Just throwing that out there I do not believe that George is a child pdf. I do believe that Casey is guilty of endgaming her child and for lying about everything.
Respectfully, may I ask where you sourced the statistics for that? I don’t think I’ve ever heard that. PDF files are opportunistic and look for a sense of dominance they can’t get elsewhere. The age is often irrelevant as far as I’m aware, aside from in terms of ‘ease of access’ so to speak. (Fucking ew just typing that x.x)
Also, didn't she imply, without saying, that her brother might be the father of her child? Isn't that why she refused the DNA test? She was trying to villainize everyone around her.
@@artalli7170Tbh knowing her, she was lying about that too. Even if its a subtle lie through implication, these types of people will lie about almost anything to fit their agenda, even if that agenda is just for their own amusement.
@@RyuTama42 Acutally PDF files tend to be a lot more psychologically complex (granted, absolutely fucking deplorable, don't get me wrong, but I'm just answering out of respect for your question). There is evidence to suggest that it's more of a spectrum in terms of development, (ie: Some are attrached to the porportions of a toddler, some to children, some to teens.) and very rarely do we see them opperating outside of a standardly 3-4 year gap unless they have extremely repressed their desires (Again, exceptions to the rules exist, but standardly, a PDF file will be attracted to the age they were when some form of trauma happened.). I don't remember exactly what video/paper I may have read that did a deep dive into PDF files, but I'll try to find it if you'd like. I just remember it's far more common for a PDF file to go out of their way to not interact directly with a child and instead may choose to consume CP (which is still harming a child, but I digress) or simply completely isolate themselves. It's actually kinda disguising to think about but yeah, a lot of PDF files are actually not violent offenders and are digusted with themselves to the point of self-unaliving. I'll see if I can find my sources for you, but I don't promise anything, one deep dive into these freaks is enough.
i was around 16 when the verdict came out. The day after I was listening to a local rock radio station and the DJ said "and now for the Casey Anthony theme song!" before playing getting away with murder by papa roach.
I could not believe she walked away from this. I watched the new coverage live every single day wth my mom. Thank you for covering it, people should not forget about this.
The Chlorophyll part finally broke me and I had to scream into my arm a few times to calm down, since I was driving while listening, which was a terrible idea in retrospect.
They did not dictate the conditions, they just made the jury think they had to have 100% certainty by repeating the same phrase over and over again. All Jurors are told at the start before a case begins what a guilty verdict means and how to deliberate one.
@@CTRL_X_X No sir, at any point if a lawyer is lying/misleading they would be reprimanded heavily by the bar association and it would likely be grounds for a their removal from the case as well as a mistrial, you cannot lie or mislead the court or the jury in any way at any point. The things you say you must at least believe to be true. Look up rule 3.3 of the American bar association, "duty of candor to the tribunal" specifically where it says: "the lawyer must not allow the tribunal to be misled by false statements of law or fact or evidence that the lawyer knows to be false." The lawyer said and i quote "if there is ANY doubt at all then you MUST vote innocent" this is a false statement (lie/misleading) said as fact.
It isn't that complicated. They charged her incorrectly. They should have charged her with 3rd degree murder. The only reason she got off was because the defense raised a reasonable doubt that it could have been accidental, thus it became a matter whether 1st degree murder could be proved beyond a reasonable doubt. It wasn't all their fault either, as the defense was very secretive about their strategy and they opened with revealing what happened to Caley. Saying that the death was accidental and they know where the body is. Up until that point everyone thought they would just deny deny deny.
@@chefref5027 I just fail to see how anyone would believe this to be an accident after details such as the journal entry and her extensive partying. Massive failure of the jury and our justice system no matter how you cut it
@@chefref5027not only that, but the state messed up by going for the death penalty. Say what you want about Jose, he’s a damn good lawyer and managed to connect with the jury. His ability to weave a story was masterful and it put enough doubt in the jury’s mind. Having rewatched some of the case years later, the prosecution really dropped the ball. Their presentation was pretty dry when addressing the jury especially in the opening statements. I do think the biggest reason for the acquittal was the death penalty the state was going for though. The jury didn’t believe Casey, but couldn’t find the evidence to sentence her to death. When going for a DP case, you should make sure you have evidence beyond a reasonable doubt. The prosecution was pretty cocky that it was a “wrapped up” case and allowed their egos to dictate their case.
I’ve rarely been this pissed at a jury as i was this after this verdict. I’ve often wondered if they realized the mistake they made after the trial and wished they had decided differently
One thing I noticed at 1:14:00, she talks about her daughter in the past tense and then quickly corrects herself. What's odd is most of us in conversation will casually switch up the tense we speak in so her talking in the past tense isn't too strange. It's the fact that she corrects herself. Not to be an armchair psychologist but one thing I found interesting learning about psychology was that liars will normally overcorrect and overshare. When telling the truth, we're not afraid of being questioned but while lying, we overshare trying to "set the record straight" and get ahead of any questioning. It ends up being more noticeable as a liar digs themselves deeper. They correct sentences that weren't suspicious to begin with like here.
I noticed that too. The past tense went over my head, as I was gaming while this played in the background, but then she used the present in the next sentence and my brain alerted me something was weird, so I went back and actually listened and it really bothered me.
It can unfortunately be because of past abuse, such as growing up being accused of always lying and trauma. In this case, it's obvious she is just a liar, and her perants let her by covering it up. She was taught to lie, encouraging her by the parents. I can only imagine how she was the golden child, and the brother was probably the scapegoat.
I was pregnant during her trial, and I was so full of rage when the jury said not guilty. I couldn't imagine a world where a mother could (allegedly) murder her child, shoved her in a trash bag, and throw her in the woods like trash. I have been to the spot where Caylee was dumped, and driven by the Anthony family home. It is so surreal.
@@StankeyWang it’d be better for her to miserably rot in prison for the rest of her life than to give her a free ticket out of her sad life with a death penalty,, probably a better chance of her being found guilty if the punishment was life sentences and not the death penalty
I saw the title and freaked. This happened so close to my home, and I had a little sister the same age as that poor baby. This case hit me deep. Especially when they showed the shorts she was "buried" in, and I looked over to see my sister in the same shorts. I remember being in school and the teachers putting the trial on the TV. It was that big of a deal in central Florida
My little sister was similar age and similar looks to Caylee, I was a kid myself at the time but it made me so angry when I realized with my parents that the mom had to have done this to her daughter and it made me so sad to think a girl like my own sister could be killed like that.
12:00 Worth noting that Zany is also slang for Xanax, because I would 100% believe Casey would be the kind of person to drug her child so she could go out and party. Only in Florida could a case this comically clear-cut not result in a guilty verdict. Like, the OJ trial at least had the post-Rodney King racial tension element to explain the verdict. LITERALLY NOTHING explains this ruling outside of the state of Florida being a complete embarrassment.
Yep…she very likely overdosed her daughter on Xanax..trying to knock her out to shut her up or put her to sleep so she didn’t have to deal with her…so it is twistedly accurate to say that she was with Zany the nanny…
@@johnosullivan1480 I agree. Her parents mentioning having heard of Zany from her before, meaning this was a thing she'd be doing for a while. It's such a sick "joke".
@@johnosullivan1480that's quite literally not physically possible with a benzo alone. The LD50 would require more pills than would fit in your stomach. It's always in combination with something else where an OD results from those pills.
As a father of a 3 year old daughter. I simply cannot even fathom the evil it takes for someone to do something so horrible as this, this little one probably trusted and loved her mother so much. I remember the story from when I was younger, but now it really hits home.
This was my favorite red thread. I love true crime and have watched these trials at the time. Watching Caleb trying to grasp this is wild. Bless you Caylee 😢
I first learned about this case in my senior year of Forensics class a couple years ago. My class was filled with the "class clown" and talkative types of people. The day we reviewed this case, the class was basically silent the entire time. My friends and I sat in the back crying our eyes out of how unbelievably livid we were at results of this case. I always tear up hearing about these events that happen to a girl who had her whole life ahead of her and was never met because of a psychopathic "mother" who focused on her own selfish desires. Kaylee would've been one year younger than me today and that absolutely kills me On a positive note, I've learned a lot listening to the podcast and I'm excited to see what new topics y'all cover. Keep up the good work boys!
The guy who fpund the body had acctually reported the bag there i think 3 to 4 times and even had his boss call the sheriffs department directly. They came out once but didnt ask him to point it out so when they didnt see anything from the road theu just left. I beleive he acctually called it in the first time before the first 911 call from the Anthonys. So basically they could have found Caylee like a week after her death and avpided this all if theyd taken his calls seriously.
Apparently he reported seeing a skull like object in August, about 3-4 months before her body was recovered in December. Called police 3 times about it but they came to check it out and didnt find anything
I was born and raised and still live in Orlando, I was surprised later in life to hear this wasnt just local news. This blew up into a whole nationwide thing, EVERYBODY was tuned into this case and me and my mom followed every update as they came
Detroit native here. I was 8 at the time of this story and so don't remember much of the story but when asking my parents they said they remember it being EVERYWHERE. This whole situation is just evil and I cannot believe she isn't behind bars. Caylee should be in high school / college living her best life. The boys said it best near the end, when I see her face my blood just boils.
I think to me one of the grossest things about her interrogation after the Universal Studios debacle is her tone. The way she says"I haven't seen her since the 9th" sound like the smug tone a friend or sibling had as a kid when they stole something from you and hid it. Then they would say "I don't have it" when you ask for it back. They know the truth, but only say what they know they can get away with. Even the way she says "not everything I've said is a lie".
@@ponderinI don’t think they meant that the act of watching the news was terrifying. I think they meant that the murder trial of a child might be traumatizing to another child.
@@ponderinduring this case a lot of us were young children. for many of us this was the event that made us understand what it means to die and that it’s possible for our lives to be taken by those we trust most. watching our parents cry and yell when updates about the story came out in real time was very upsetting. it wasn’t just “watching the news”
This and the Bagby's case just always gets me so angry and sad. Dear Zachary made me cry at several different points in the documentary and somehow manages to give what would otherwise just be a depressing case a profoundly loving ending, giving us the thought that though the loss of two members was morbid and horrifyingly terrible for the Bagby family, they were able to come together and share the stories of their now dead friends. The Casey Anthony Case seemed to have the opposite ending, where not only did a baby die a needless death at the hands of a selfish mother, but after all of it the family was completely dysfunctional, complacent in the lies, and at one point the father nearly killed himself out of remorse. It really is just incredibly dull and bleak and it hurts all the more to think about it.
I hope they touch on WHY Casey was found not guilty. Her lawyer basically lied to the jury about what reasonable doubt is and the prosecution didn't call them out on it.
Being judged by a Jury is scary after a case like this happens. How many innocent people are in jail while guilty people are out free all because the jury was straight r3tard3d.
They didn't. But, because the death penalty was on the table, the defense was basically like, if you even have a shadow of a doubt that she might not have done this and you convict her, you are doing the wrong thing, and it fucking worked. Even though, that's not the way it is supposed to work and the prosecution never corrected the narrative.
@@dangerxbadger2300 the worst part is the law is just like "yeah you cant be prosecuted for the same thing twice even if you are 100% factually guilty after the fact, and the case itself is completely mishandled by all parties involved. oops sowwy. you are allowed to kill your child if you make the jury feel bad for you"
Being found not guilty doesn't necessarily mean innocent. It's not about deciding which is more likely, it's about proving without a shadow of a doubt that the accused is guilty.
I am a Floridian from Orlando, I was 12-13 when this was all over the news. The entire court case was on in my house the whole time. I remember being SO mad about this happening in my back yard in my community. As a teenager I was enraged at our courts system and this opened my eyes to the world. I will never forget this. As a Floridian it made me really mad at my state, and distrust my community.
I put the blame squarely on the prosecution team here. They probably, and rightly so, believed they had a slam dunk case. They got comfortable, over confident, and fumbled on the 1 yard line. A better prosecution team would have ripped all that perjury to shreds in court and made the lies blatantly obvious with the actual evidence. That’s the whole point of a trial for the prosecution, to find the truth and expose fiction for what it is. And not objecting to the mischaracterization of the burden of proof is just inexcusable.
I have the feeling that this is the case with a lot of slam dunk cases that get overturned. That you have something so easy that you just let it slide and the defense uses that to sneak away with not guilty
I've been reading through all the comments, and this resonated with my the most here. The prosecution team failed to represent Caylee, and she has been robbed of the justice that the country she was born in promised her.
It wasn't a slam dunk case, though. They were asking for the death penalty with circumstantial evidence, which would be a hard sell for juries (Especially if the jury had people who were anti-death penalty on it, which could very well be why she was found not guilty).
Casey never reported Caylee missing. Her mom CINDY did when she finally tracked Casey down and confronted her for stealing her car and got her to admit she didn’t know where Caylee was.
Reminds me of the case of Paulette in Mexico. She was a 4 year old disabled girl and was declared missing. It was a huge case in Mexico and everybody was trying to find her only for her body to be discovered in her bed wedged between the footboard and mattress. The official statement and ruling was that she got stuck there during the night and suffocated but it’s a really controversial case. For instance 2 of the girls nannies said there is no way the body could’ve been there for so many days since they looked for her everywhere in the house including her bed and never saw the blood or a bundle. A friend of the mom was actually allowed to stay in the house during Paulette’s disappearance and slept in Paulette’s room she said that every day the bed would be made and nobody ever saw the blood or the body. Also a recording got leaked where Paulette’s mom was heard telling her other daughter to not say anything about Paulette’s disappearance because they would be blamed.
The fact she is alive living free somewhere is an absolute disgrace and testament to how broken the judicial system. The fact that in law they have black and white systems in place on things involving absolute complex and chaotic unpredictable people
I went into this episode wondering how they were gonna make the intro funny, was pleasantly surprised to hear that they didn't do one this time. This case deserves the level of respect and reverence the boys gave it. I remember going to my grandmother's every weekend, watching Friday Night Smackdown and immediately turning on the news once it was over to see the newest developments on the case. I also vividly remember hearing about George's attempt on his own life. It blew my 8 y/o mind thinking that someone would deliberately try and end their own life. Thank you covering this case, it was a formative memory to me.
I have a little girl, and my son was born in 2011, so this case just wrecked me then, and wrecks me every time I watch it bc like. How do you do that to your OWN CHILD. As a mother.. I just. I cannot even fathom hurting either of my kids. I've worked extremely hard to break the cycle of abuse in my family, and went to therapy alone and with my daughter when I was struggling with discipline and my own anger. There's help out there, yall. Don't hurt your kids.
The difference is that you had kids you wanted to keep, and came from a background where you knew you didnt want to commit the same mistakes. Casey never wanted her child and was just a spoiled brat that couldnt care about anyone but herself.
Holy shit. I kinda figured that Casey was a pathological liar but I never knew her mom used to enable it. As bad as it is to say, this seems like karma for the mom for how she kept enabling her daughter...
@@Mister_Unlucky What a nasty, insensitive, and wasteful comment. A parent spoiling a child is bad and should be corrected, but it is human error. In no way should it be used as reasoning for said child to MURDER another human being, mich less their own kid later down the line.
@trenedyallen3578 ?? I don't think you understand what I was trying to say in my comment. I'm saying the consequences of enabling Casey Anthony's lies ultimately lead to the death of Caylee. I'm not defending Casey Anthony or justifying the death of a child. You're right. A parent spoiling a child is wrong and should be corrected. But theres only so many times you can use the excuse of humar error. The end result of the parenting is a child dead and her mother lying throughout the investigation and prosecution (paired with a concern for only herself and complete disregard for her child). This is completely evil, whether or not it is intentional or unintentional. That's why I hold no sympathy for Casey Anthony's parents. It's clear the actions of their "parenting" was the reason this conclusion was reached, and that is a damn shame.
@@TheLitRight That's interesting, since the "nature vs nurture" argument is quite famously up for debate since the field of psychology started, but go on...
my mom was completely invested in this case when it happened, even now she has an encyclopedic knowledge about it. i was 5 and my brother was 1 when it happened. she's the same about the laci peterson case because she was pregnant with me when laci died.
What's worse is that recently (maybe in the last year or two I think), Casey Anthony called the police right away when someone threw a drink on her. Immediate call for a drink, 31 days for her own child
After listening to this you could've switched the outro to a photo of Caylee Anthony since that monster would've been upset that she wasn't the focal point

The part that really gets me is when shes talking to her parents.
"Kaylee was lucky to have had you as grandparents"
past tense. she knew very well that Kaylee was dead.
It's so damning to me because she catches herself the second time and says "She is lucky to have you" Like she knew she fucked up by saying have had.
Notice how whenever the police ask her where her daughter is, she keeps saying "I haven't seen her for 5 weeks", never outright denying she knew what happened.
If her brother did what she said he did to her growing up why would she name her daughter after him cay LEE
One additional detail: the Nickname Xanny is pronounced like “Zanny”. Casey would frequently tell people that “Zanny the Nanny” was watching Kayley. So she probably gave her Xanax to put her to sleep so she could go out.

The only justice in this case, as with the Zimmerman and OJ case, is them being complete social pariahs. Possibly the only scenarios in which I'm totally OK with the court of public opinion taking ahold of things.

Did she really call the nanny Zanny? Like, Xanny? The drug? That may have been an inadvertent admission.
that's actually a pretty popular theory iirc, that "zanny the nanny" was just what casey called it & she had drugged her daughter with xanax before killing her. some people think it was an accidental overdose but considering the google searches, idk if i buy that story personally.
@lynn4840 Chloroform is usually used to knock people out, or at least thats what Id imagine someone like Casey would think of it. Just throwing that out there
I do not believe that George is a child pdf.

The fact the defense were allowed to dictate the conditions for guilt is actually insane, what a joke.

Yeah, her correcting it actually drew attention to her previous statement. That actually creeped, angered, and saddened me at the same time.
It can unfortunately be because of past abuse, such as growing up being accused of always lying and trauma. In this case, it's obvious she is just a liar, and her perants let her by covering it up. They came out once but didnt ask him to point it out so when they didnt see anything from the road theu just left. I beleive he acctually called it in the first time before the first 911 call from the Anthonys. So basically they could have found Caylee like a week after her death and avpided this all if theyd taken his calls seriously.
devastating if true
Apparently he reported seeing a skull like object in August, about 3-4 months before her body was recovered in December. Called police 3 times about it but they came to check it out and didnt find anything
I like how when Jackson realizes he let an australianism slip, his immediate reaction is dismay
Props to Oompa’s mom for not traumatizing him with child murder trial news like the other guys
That's your definition of traumatizing.....watching the news....
@@ponderinI don’t think they meant that the act of watching the news was terrifying. I think they meant that the murder trial of a child might be traumatizing to another child.

Oh these houses are about to be SO clean! Hell yeah!
watching Caleb learn the details & his facial expressions just hits home the point of how no one outside the jury understood the decision
Probably the best episode so far fellas. It’s my third time watching already. Great work.
I worked in a restaurant in Tampa and we’re fairly certain a disguised Casey Anthony had lunch there shortly after the trial. Disgusting human being

I hope they touch on WHY Casey was found not guilty. Her lawyer basically lied to the jury about what reasonable doubt is and the prosecution didn't call them out on it.
i was wondering why, i feel like that’s gotta be ground for a retrial for bad prosecution or some shit but i guess not🙃
Every time a case like this happens, it comes down to terrible prosecution, charismatic defense, and/or an idiotic jury. usually a mix therein.

@@someonesomeone3729 Nah, very specifically Florida. The entire rest of the US is embarrassed and infuriated by this, clearly.
How did even a single person ever think this lunatic was innocent?
@@lukew6725 "beyond reasonable doubt" does not mean "without a shadow of a doubt" she guilty as hell objectively.
The big thing that always stuck out to me was how she used past tense when discussing Kaylee
Similar to the OJ case, right?
It wasn't a slam dunk case, though. They were asking for the death penalty with circumstantial evidence, which would be a hard sell for juries (Especially if the jury had people who were anti-death penalty on it, which could very well be why she was found not guilty).
Glad yall have Caleb on again as a repeating guest, he adds a great temporary dynamic to the show while Charlie is on break!

22:00 Casey's behavior makes much more sense when you learn about her past pathological lies and her mom's full enabling of it
