Little fact: the rope with the bell at the end was something they did back then in case they mistakenly buried somebody who they thought was dead, if the Bell was ringing they would dig them up and rescue them, in fact it’s where “saved by the Bell” comes from
as someone with chronic migraines, where noise and light become extremely painful, a demon screaming -- or anything screaming -- at me would be a pretty effective tactic. however, not everyone has this particular struggle, so I agree that the demons really need to get their shit together and up their game.

The only way I can really see something like this working in a serious horror movie without being stupid, would be like how they did the Conjuring 2, just with more demons. So you would have a new family that somehow gets haunted by ALL the demons from the previous movies at once, and it would be the scariest one yet. Annabelle 3's plot is apparently going to be about how Annabelle messes with the room of haunted trinkets that the Warrens have. So maybe that's all gonna lead up to a bigger film.

St Peter, the first Pope of the Catholic Church, was crucified upside down on his request as he was not worthy to die the same way Jesus did. Many Catholics wear upside down crosses in reverence to this idea and honoring St Peter. So Catholics would not be scared of an upside down cross as it has a significant holy meaning to them.

Looking forward to this movie. The string in the coffin tied to the bell was actually a common practice. It is where the term "dead ringer" originated. With no great medical practice sometimes people would be buried alive and the bell was for living people to ring in case they were buried alive.
7:50 back in the olden days, rope was tied to a bell, to prevent from people being buried alive. If they did awake underground, they would ring the bell and someone that is one the graveyard shift will here and come to the rescue.

Just gonna put this out there. The bell on the tombstone is a reference to the whole myth of being buried alive. It was said that a bell would be attached to the headstone with a piece of string placed in the coffin so in the event that someone was buried alive they could pull the string and call the undertaker.
All coffins used to have those bells because there medical skills weren’t very good and they buried a lot of people they thought were dead but they weren’t and the would they in the grave, but with the bell they can ring it if they are still alive

I predict this movie will have at least an 80% RT score and gross a total of 300+ Million worldwide. Sure it looks like it has some jump scares, but it also seems to have terrific atmosphere. Which will make those jump scares even more rewarding.
The bells on strings used to be a common thing. Back in the day there weren't a lot of doctors around. People were burried alive. They would put the bell in so that if someone was burried and they woke up in the coffin they could ring the bell for the undertaker to hear and dig them up. There are quite a few historical accounts of that happening.

I actually enjoy watching these types of movies as they are the very few stories that truly scare me... that and a good Alien movie (Like Alien and Aliens).

The bell is a legit thing that used to be put on graves incase the person in the coffin was buried alive. They could ring the bell to alert people. I really like the irony of that ad.

In 1634, the strange case of the possessed Ursuline nuns of Loudun, France, came to light and immediately became a worldwide sensation. At the root of the matter was one Father Urbain Grandier, whose acts of sorcery, evil spells and debauchery were blamed for this diabolical debacle.
But was he really just the subject of jealousy and envy among his political enemies?
As the story goes, in 1632, Mother Superior Jeanne Agnes and 16 nuns of the Ursuline convent allegedly became possessed by demons, which caused them to undergo convulsions, use abusive language and become overtly sexual. A Father Jean-Joseph Surin was called in to exorcise the demons by inviting them into his body.
Well, it seems the infernal spirits took him up on the offer, and the good father lost mental balance as a result, inflicting injuries on himself and attempting suicide.
Describing the plight, Father Surin said that he was unable to understand what happened to him when the unknown spirit entered his body. He got the feeling that he had two souls and that the alien soul constituted a second personality

Don't listen to the ones telling you to watch chronologically. Watch it in the release order : Conjuring > Annabelle > Conjuring 2 > Anabelle : Creation > The Nun
You gotta do it in release order, that's the best way. If you do it in timeline order, you're not gonna get the full effect of Annabelle Creation's ending, and the cameos aren't gonna mean anything to you. So it would be:

The first "water" scene like that i remember is in The Grudge 2, when Kayako peeks out from the photographers tray.

Second story in 1633 of possessed nuns
The second story is much more interesting and lurid. The Mother Superior claimed that Father Grandier appeared to her in a dream, as a radiant angel. As this angel, the priest enticed the chaste nun into sexual acts, causing her to rave loudly during the night.
For these indiscretions, the Mother Superior flogged herself and did other acts of penance.
But this was only the start. More nuns claimed that they too were haunted by hallucinations and vulgar dreams. Pushed to the limit, Mother Superior contacted Father Mignon and confessed these bizarre incidents to him.
So Father Mignon and his aide proceeded to perform exorcisms on the possessed nuns. Several allegedly suffered violent convulsions, shrieking and making sexual motions toward the priests. Blasphemies were screamed and bodies contorted; dog-like barks filled the halls.
During the exorcisms, the Mother Superior swore that she and the other nuns were possessed by two demons named Asmodeus and Zabulon, sent to the nuns when Father Grandier tossed a bouquet of roses over the convent walls.
Realizing the danger he was in, Father Grandier wrote to the Archbishop of Bordeaux, who sent his personal doctor to examine the nuns. No evidence of true possession was found, and the Archbishop ordered the exorcisms to cease on March 21, 1633. The nuns were sequestered in their cells.
But like a ravaged demon intent on destroying a soul, the exorcisms not only resumed in full force, they became public. Expert exorcists Capuchin Father Tranquille, Franciscan Father Lactance and Jesuit Father Jean-Joseph Surin performed the exorcisms in front of as many as 7,000 spectators. The priests employed dramatic commands, threats, and rituals to both direct and encourage the nuns in their accusations against Grandier.
Adding to the hysteria prompted by the public exorcisms were the stories told by both nuns and Father Grandier’s former lovers. The claims made against Grandier were overtly sexual and showed visible physical responses. Because they were public and dramatic, the citizens of Loudun and surrounding areas began to turn against Grandier.
Grandier also had gained the ire of the powerful Cardinal Richelieu, the chief minister of France, after a public verbal attack against him. Grandier had also written and published scathing criticisms of Richelieu.
In addition to Asmodeus and Zabulon, Mother Superior named a third demon, Isacarron, the devil of debauchery, as being part of the attacks. After admitting to this, Mother Superior went through a psychosomatic pregnancy.
In all, the nuns claimed to be possessed by the following horde of demons: Asmodeus, Zabulon, Isacaaron, Astaroth, Gresil, Amand, Leviatom, Behemot, Beherie, Easas, Celsus, Acaos, Cedon, Alex, Naphthalim, Cham, Ureil, and Achas.
That bell is actually a reference to how people were buried back in the day, long time ago people were known to be buried while in comas or other rare medical issues that make people seem dead, so a bell was installed so if people came back they would ring it and signal theyre not dead. Thays where the sayings
"Graveyard shift" which was a graveyard caretaker that would listen for the bells
"dead ringer" is also a saying that stemed from this practice.

Looking forward to this movie. The string in the coffin tied to the bell was actually a common practice. It is where the term "dead ringer" originated. With no great medical practice sometimes people would be buried alive and the bell was for living people to ring in case they were buried alive.

The "monks" in white are actually nuns, and it looks like the young sister, played by Taissa Farmiga, gets possessed by valek.
The bell attached to a coffin was a common practice in history when people would sometimes be buried alive, mistaken for dead because of a certain illness. It started happening enough that they started using a bell so if the person awoke underground, they could ring the bell to alert those above. It also could have been tied to the superstition of vampires.

Just gonna put this out there. The bell on the tombstone is a reference to the whole myth of being buried alive. It was said that a bell would be attached to the headstone with a piece of string placed in the coffin so in the event that someone was buried alive they could pull the string and call the undertaker.
All coffins used to have those bells because there medical skills weren’t very good and they buried a lot of people they thought were dead but they weren’t and the would they in the grave, but with the bell they can ring it if they are still alive

Fun fact: when you see an upside down cross being linked to Satanism, somebody skimped on the research and is just trying to be edgy. It is in fact a Christian symbol *which you still see on churches, and especially steeples,* linked to a specific person who was martyred, because apparently he felt he shouldn't be executed in the same way as Christ, and so had them flip it upside down.
Of course, bearing in mind the actual groups that call themselves Satanists (most of which use the name symbolically and in fact don't even believe in Satan -- though the stereotypical edgyboi ritual sacrifice obsessed Satanism did exist, it's mostly defunct now after they dragged the bazillion unrelated groups through the mud), they decided to just go with being outright given yet another symbol.

I predict this movie will have at least an 80% RT score and gross a total of 300+ Million worldwide. Sure it looks like it has some jump scares, but it also seems to have terrific atmosphere. Which will make those jump scares even more rewarding.
The bells on strings used to be a common thing. Back in the day there weren't a lot of doctors around. People were burried alive. They would put the bell in so that if someone was burried and they woke up in the coffin they could ring the bell for the undertaker to hear and dig them up. There are quite a few historical accounts of that happening.
