I love this. I live in Brentwood. Cherry capital of California, and corn, tomatoes, pumpkins squash. This recipe is a summer time favorite. I make them in cupcake size for east serving.
This was super delicious and easy. I used 2 cans of Tart Cherries since I didn't have fresh cherries. Everything else , I followed exactly. My guests loved it. This is a new go to recipe for me.
Wow! Canned with heavy syrup? How did you work on it? Since according to this recipe the cherries are supposed to be tossed with sugar and corn starch. Some suggest to rinse the cherries when they're canned with heavy syrup. I'm so lost. Help!

Chef John, you should try freezing the butter and shredding it, makes for really flakey crispy pastries/biscuts, could work for the crumble, I will let you know when I get my new oven and can bake again

even though im on a diet for five month now i give up bc of that good looking pie!!!!!!!!! i rather be fat while eating cherry pie than eating chicken breast!!!!!!! but chef john, u always make the best looking food that i want to jump into the screen and eat but that doesn't work!!!!!!!!!
It's pretty standard to slightly bake a pie crust (weighted with beans or pie weights) before putting in the filling and baking the whole pie. It's called 'blind baking'. I'm not sure but I don't think it's done with fruit pies.
Keep your butter in the freezer then grate it into your pie crust or whatever with a cheese grater that you keep in the freezer, much more better I think.
Oh my.. usualy, I love you.. but now I hate you.. theres no way I could make a cherry pie right here, right now, in freezn norway.. looks soooo good!! ......

Those were not the instructions! Actually, the slivered almonds should have been toasted. and i can't believe there was no cayenne.

I must say, I made with my kids and it was so yummy. The topping part I've used for alot of other pie toppings too. Such a great dessert recipe.
