I had no idea Todd had passed away, R.I.P Todd. He played in the best ever Raiders team and was an outstanding playing in that position, one at the time that did not get a lot of attention. His contribution was immense to the Raiders super bowl winning team and was one of my favourite players. Todd Christensen had the best pair of hands I have ever seen on tight end. He has some incredible catches that showed up on a lot of highlight reels. What I remember the most when I first saw him catching a TD was his celebration dance ending in the splits. A very remarkable athlete. I recall a story wherein he was such a different and eccentric personality compared to the rest of the Raiders and Howie Long was quoted in regards to his different behavior...."Well, he's still got those hands."
As a San Diego Charger fan, Todd Christensen was a great TE and a absolute BEAST! Todd killed the Chargers! He and Kellen Winslow were " Abosolute Nightmares" to NFL Defenses, he was a great talent who deserves to be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He definitely deserves this honor. In my opinion he was one of the greatest TE's in the history of the NFL.

We had guy here in Minnesota named Joe Sensor who had a 1,000 yards in only his second season in 1981. Then blew out his knee early the next year. That was the end of him.
I wish they'd put him in the Hall- the man was not only a gifted athlete, but, more importantly a very good man who was and STILL IS a positive role model for people of all ages. GOD BLESS him and Rest In Peace.

I lived in El Segundo when the Raiders played in LA. The Raiders training facility was on Center street in the middle of town, down the street from us. I ran into many, many Raiders at the market, at restaurants and even got lots of signatures at the facility as well. Without a doubt, hands down, no contest, the biggest jerk on the ream was Todd. I ran into him and saw his act quite a few times. He big timed everybody including children. Just no class.

I liked the raiders of the 70’s & 80’s, those teams were winning, e won 3 Super-bowls between 1976 and 1984, Todd Christensen was a key member of those raider teams, he replaced Dave Casper who was on the the raiders for their first Super Bowl winning team. But I believe he was on the next 2 raider teams that won Super Bowl, he also was a great blocker too
TC was a great mold for the TE position in the 1990s NFL. Not a fleet runner still he greatly influenced the evolution of players of that position like Brent Jones, Jay Novacek, and Frank Wycheck. The tight ends that ran an excellent route tree suited for them and ability to exploit space. TC in the FHOF should happen, trails Shannon Sharpe only by about 1,000 career yards and 100 less receptions so it would not be alarming. Christensen has about the same stats as Ben Coates.

The real forgotten Raiders Legend is Mark Van Eeghen. 2nd all time for the raiders rushing yards & 4th for raiders rushing tds. Also across his 10 year career he averaged 823.5 scrimmage yards & 4 Tds a season yet I can’t find a video highlighting Mark which is wack in the year 2024
I dated his cousin Toni and she talked about his career very much and it has something too do with kissing up to reporters to make the pro football hall of fame favoritism .
Winslow was getting attention before him, but I remember Todd getting a lot of attention for breaking records and being Plunkett's main target for the best AFC team of the early 80s. But he didn't have Coryell as a coach, Fouts as a QB and wasn't part of the more exciting Super Chargers. Also, the fro was not the best look.
I think Todd was very talented and remarkable athlete. I believe he was the victim of attrition and not a favorable representation of what the policymakers of the NFL wanted to represent them. I believe his chosen faith may have been a liability more than his talent and sometimes more politicized against him more than for him. His injuries diminished some of his talent and joining the Raiders never made it better for him and not making it to the HOF is showing that reality. I will always wish him the best anyhow!

Todd was well respected on the Raiders becuase at the end of the it matters if you are productive on the field that your teammates see and respect. Todd had that respect. Sadly missed he died from from complications during liver transplant surgery at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah, near his home in Alpine. He had battled liver disease and related illnesses for about two years, which began from a "botched" gallbladder surgery 25 years earlier......

The real forgotten Raiders Legend is Mark Van Eeghen. 2nd all time for the raiders rushing yards & 4th for raiders rushing tds. Also across his 10 year career he averaged 823.5 scrimmage yards & 4 Tds a season yet I can’t find a video highlighting Mark which is wack in the year 2024
Todd and Jim both should be in the HOF. Jim won 2 super bowls and not in the HOF. Joe Namath only won 1 and is in the HOF.

Winslow was getting attention before him, but I remember Todd getting a lot of attention for breaking records and being Plunkett's main target for the best AFC team of the early 80s. But he didn't have Coryell as a coach, Fouts as a QB and wasn't part of the more exciting Super Chargers. Also, the fro was not the best look.

I think Todd was very talented and remarkable athlete. I believe he was the victim of attrition and not a favorable representation of what the policymakers of the NFL wanted to represent them. I believe his chosen faith may have been a liability more than his talent and sometimes more politicized against him more than for him. His injuries diminished some of his talent and joining the Raiders never made it better for him and not making it to the HOF is showing that reality. I will always wish him the best anyhow!

Todd was the real deal, like Casper was. Now? We get guys like Waller who just use the NFL to springboard to rapping or other guys who stick around 2 years then bolt....the hell with them

The Raiders have the most players in the Hall. Guys that only played as Raiders for a few years from other teams went in as Raiders. The Steelers are next in line, so let's not pretend it is because he was a Raider. He was a great tight end, but he's no Dave Casper.
