My favorite Tekken win pose of all time is the one where Dragonuv looks at his watch, realizes he’s late for something, and then just books it 😂 it’s a shame they removed it in Tekken 7.
@@IoiniEverson Definitely not a marketing thing. Tekken 7 didn't have the extra miles because apparently the devs weren't too sure it would sell well (like what happened to Tag Tournament 2) Thankfully Tekken 8's trailers show that they're going full force and bringing back the characterization.
1:38 I love that even though Alisa is a robot, she doesn't really lean into the robot trope but instead seems to be played as more of an enigmatic individual with the kindness and passivity of an angel, the power of a demon, and a certain bizzare but not necessarily off-putting nature that makes her really appealing to me as a character.
You just describe the uncanny valley effect, with your last statement of her being bizarre. Which makes Alissa the perfect, realistic robot. They will seem almost human at first, but something will be off about them. Kind of like in Megan.
If I had to guess, save money on the animation department to exclude some of these since people skipped them once the competitive scene took a hold of the franchise. In a casual sense, these win poses are GOATED but in a high level environment, most people skip them and move onto the next.
@@Hussuki I find that a bit hard to buy with how much animation reuse Tekken has. Some of these could be somewhat reproduced in T7 with a bit of camera work too. Well apparently Tekken tag 2 didn't sell well due to clearly bad marketing. Which cut a lot of the budget for Tekken 7. They had to cut a lot of corners originally for Tekken 7. Shitty story mode, lack of game modes, barebones character customization.. etc. Remember originally everyone was just going to return with there outfits from Tekken 6, but then they updated them right before the game came out. I'm saying all this mainly to state I wouldn't be shocked if this affected the intros and win poses as well. I mean for Christ sakes lucky Chloe and Shaheen only have ONE knock out sound. @@thelastgogeta Even if that were the issue, isn’t there a tournament/competition mode? If competitive players were against win poses, Bandai Namco would just turn it off for that mode. EZ.
Man, Ganryu's winposes were just funny. I really liked Hworang's though, it really showed his laidback yet trained fighting style. And Xiaoyu just looked like she was having fun with her won poses.
In all fairness: i wouldn't say T7 did a bad job either. They had some great ideas too like Lei breaking the camera in a Jackie Chan fashion. But i sure miss these here too.
They did a terrible job in fact Because in older tekken games they had so manyintro and win poses Like 5 or 6 intro and outros per characters While in tekken 7 they only have 3 intros and outros at best which is garbage
@@natersumkatanuar7631 because the gameplay is super good and the most balanced in the tekken franchise Everything else sucks in tekken 7 The customization is worst than previous game The soundrack and stages are mostly bad but there is some few exception like the dlc stages or infinite azure The graphics are mediocre for the time it released. Tekken 6 , tt1 and tekken 4 were beautiful games for their time
The current intros and winposes are also good. But the fact that they have reduced the number of intros and winposes to 2-3 from 7-8 really sucks. I hope they bring back some iconic intro and winposes back in Tekken 8 and the number will be 8-9 per character.
Can we talk about how the facial animations for each and every pre-fight intro and win pose peaked in Tekken 4 and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection? The amount of personality and emotion that the characters expressed during their respective interactions was nothing short of perfection, and it's sad that this is no longer the case in this day and age. I mean, compare the facial animation during Kazuya's win pose where he says, "Pathetic" in Tekken 4 to how it looks in Tekken 7 or 8, and you'll see that the difference is literally night and day.
I really dont know what happened to the luster of Tekken. Maybe it’s just nostalgia but watching this game become so basic in artistry, style & tone has hit me hard in the feels. Hopefully T8 can bring back those feelings we had when we were younger.
T7 was hit hard by budget since TTT2 didn't really sell well (due to notably bad marketing), but since T7 did extremely well in sales, we might be getting a lot of the stuff that made Tekken fun again.
I think it started changing when Namco merged with Bandai. Tekken used to have a more dark tone/atmosphere in the story, ost, and stage background. Most notably in Tekken 4, which was personally my favorite. I started noticing the change slightly in Tekken 5, then became obvious starting Tekken 6, where the story flow and personality of the characters started getting "nicer".
@@N5X1odQ4gTSiwPjSQsucxA I wouldn't say it was because of the merger if anything T4 was hated back then because of its gameplay and roster, plus it was haradas first game in the director chair so he probably took alot of the criticisms of T4 to heart
Everyone here talks about these outro poses, but we can take just a second to acknowledge the god-like background music, which is first half of Tekken 5 intro? Always makes me pumped up and overall, played a huge part in said intro being of the greatest openings in fighting games' history.
My understanding is that they went all out with showing personality and unique animations in Tekken Tag 2 but because it underperformed, they were forced to scale it back considerably in Tekken 7. Hopefully the commercial success of Tekken 7 will give greater room for unique animations in Tekken 8.
I miss the animations inbetween the rounds more honestly, I thought it was funny seeing the characters kicking the ground then getting ready for a comeback
Tekken 6 is already a legendary series of tekken .. just had something special to the game from atmosphere to graphics to the OST .. one of the best tekken

Crazy how that exact iconic win-pose that Anna had in previous games was removed in Tekken 7.....which I find to be odd. It fits her personality so well.
