- Mimi Redd skyrocketed to the top of the international gospel music scene in 1994 with the song Order My Steps. Today, Order My Steps is considered one of the great gospel classic songs along side other gospel classics like Amazing Grace, Oh Happy Day, Rough Side of the Mountain, or Stomp. She recorded the song on the GMWA Women of Worship CD Its Our Time and the recording remained at the top of the Billboard charts for an astonishing 123 weeks.
This is her first interview in almost ten years after going into seclusion, she talks about the battles within the music industry, her health struggles, and her new comeback single God Is Hip

As a child my grandmother would always listen to this song! To this day she still love this song! Now that I'm a grown man. I often listen to this song for encouragement . This song is personal to me and the words is a personal prayer to God! Beautiful and powerful song!
Ms. Redd taught our choir class at Sam Houston in 1991 or 92? I think it was the best class in my senior year. I never missed it. We missed her when she left but I joined my college gospel choir Innervisions at The University of Texas for 4 years. Thank you, Mimi Redd!

This is a true story, we both were memeber of GMWA I was with the Birmingham Mass back then, and we use sing all night long, I remember when they gave Ms. Mimi that song we were so excited, and she song it so well, we still love that song to this day. Such good memories... Love you Mimi. I got lots of pictures of us....

This song has been a blessing to so many over the years. I think when God chooses to use a vessel He sets it apart. Maybe just maybe He did not want His precious vessel in the mix with all of the debauchery that takes place in the gospel music industry. He used Mimi as He saw fit and hopefully award awaits her in heaven. Thank you Mimi for blessing us with your God given gift!

Order my Steps is one of my favorite songs. I can listen to it all day, every day. There is such an anointing on this song.. Mimi, thank you for using your gift to honor GOD. I do not know of one soul who has heard this song and was not touched or ministered to by GOD.

I don't understand the music industry either! When i knew Mimi here name was Mimi White, she is one of the greatest singers alive...I guess it is who you know to be able to reach the top of the music industry...She should have been on those big time gospel award shows just like those other singers who sing gospel music and you don't know if it is church or wordly music!!!

The amount of soloist that are on alot of Kirk Franklin and Ricky Dillard songs, yet nobody knows who leads it, is wrong. I always have to do a lot of research to find it because the main artist don't name the door singers on the credits.
