Oh my nerves, your Stria Cardigan is absolutely incredible. I loved when you showed it before but I still do. It’s too bad it’s not enjoyable. Your colors are so amazing. Just pick away at it a bit at a time and maybe less frustrating. Your darkness boo boo dosen’t matter and I love that you look at it as a memory of that time with family. That’s perfect and a great outlook. You are amazing, really. A great podcast, as always.
Welcome back, glad you took time out to spend with your family. Love the purple test knit, it looks great. That stria, well, what to say. It's so hard when something just sucks the joy out of a knitting project. You are amazing to keep going, I would not have if the love was not there. I love the felix, I have one, love it.
Your Felix cardigan looks great! I was knitting one in a dk yarn and a mohair and I went down on my needle because I couldn’t get gauge on the large needle. I also thought it was too sheer. I’m a newer knitter with not much experience in knitting and I ended up frogging mine thinking I had the wrong yarn or wrong gauge 😢. Hearing you talk about your Felix I should have kept it ugh ! Oh well … you live and learn…
I can relate to your experience with the half fisherman's rib stitch. I'm 1/4 way through a Lanark sweater in half fisherman's rib and it's been in the bag for a while.... As much as I want the finished product, it is so slow and driving me crazy. I can't fix my mistakes yet in HFR so this is really frustrating too.
Love your sweater you knit as a test. I am new to fitted garments and I did 6 inches positive ease on my first sweater. 3 inches on each side and the sweater was huge. I have a 44 to 44 1/2 bust so it was 50 wide too much. Hated it! I think I am going to do a pattern with like no positive or just a little for finish easy.
Oh my goodness... I've been thinking about ease so wrongly 😂 I thought 4 in ease was 4 in each side and every time I saw it on someone I thought, that doesn't look that big, must be the camera angle or something 😂😂😂😂 now I know ❤
if the stria brings you that much displeasure - why the persistent need to finish it? It sounds like working on it makes you miserable and knitting shouldn't do that. have you considered "gifting" the project in it's current state to another knitter to either finish OR reclaim the yarn? If you want the final product then by all means keep it and come back to it when you're ready. I'm just a firm believer in only knitting what brings me joy to knit and if it doesn't bring me joy or is causing me mental aguish then I have been known to frog or just trash a UFO.
Hi Rachel, love your work. As a newer knitter(long term crocheter)I have committed to doing 4 rows a day of my first major project, would this work for your Striya? You have inspired me to be a monogamous knitter. I tried to count all my crochet PHDs with no success. That being said, there is inspiration everywhere I turn😂😂😂
I am not at that point yet, but I may get there. I do enjoy working on it when inspiration strikes, but when roadblocks happen it is extra frustrating on that project.
OK, I’m clearly a complete sicko. I am currently working on Andrea Mowry’s Briochealicious and it is KILLING me. Doing each (incredibly long!) row twice is making me want to throw it in the bin. However, as soon as a laid eyes on your Stria, I inexplicably added it to my Ravelry queue and I’m now desperate to make it. A glutton for punishment, I guess.
I don't understand why people get soooo upset about pattern sizes. Why can't the designer do what the designer wants to do. There will ALWAYS be people bigger than the range no matter how many sizes they scale. There are like a zillion patterns out there. Just move on and don't blackball a designer because they don't scale for 1,000 sizes. Not that you were negative at all. I'm just sayin' in general. YOU ARE FABULOUS!!!
I think it is an issue with a lot of nuance. Ultimately I think everyone should knit what works for them, it’s just too bad that not every pattern can be made by those who would like to make it.

For real 😅
I did notice you were missing but I am glad you took time for yourself and family. It is important and everyone needs a break.

Row One subscription give me ideas on knit projects for this type of subscription. 😬
I need them too! I was thinking a granny stripe baby blanket would be cute!

I feel your pain re the Stria. Too bad it looks so good otherwise you could just frog it. Maybe it will be your magnum opus?
Maybe! We will see!

Life is too short to knit such a heart breaking item. Bin the Stria, we are begging you ❤
