it's supposed to be. him, and a guys name i can't type, pretty much did a collab, where the artist (nicknamed 'The Nightmare Painter', or something along those lines,) made the art, then the composer wrote music to match it.
The harmonic beauty, mystery and profundity of the Adagio surpasses Shostakovich in my opinion, even while being highly reminiscent of Shostakovich 5. I think a stronger work than it's immediate predecessor, even though his fast music has a tendency to run in place.
I have great admirationand respect for this, truly, great, Artist! He is genuinely, very, original! His sonorities speak of an enormous "Spiritual/Human" Kosmic turmoil which all Humans lack the courage to reconize, and even more so, face up to! He is intensely disturned by thr sufferings of others this be of his own compatriots, the Jews, the Japanese, Jesus in trial, torture and execution, or those of ordinary people anywhere. It is an infinitely painful loss to us all, his death. No matter what anyone asserts, THERE IS NO "JUSTIFICATION" FOR---- DEATH!!!!+

dreamlandnightmare Penderecki to the dismay of many of his admirers switched to tonality in the very early eighties with his first violin concerto and second symphony marking the transition, the theme you hear at the beginning of this symphony is one that has haunted him since his switch to tonality and can be heard in the two aforementioned pieces as well, some including yours truly believe that in his atonal phase his music had vitality, originality and uniqueness which was lost with his transition to tonality.
