Great video. What would you guys recommend for a first car, used for motorways? My budget is £2000 and I prefer small hatchbacks. Thanks, as I'm overwhelmed by choices, reliability, insurance. 👍🏼
"Absolutely fine" - pretty much what I'd expect from a car like this. I like the design of the steering wheel. Not sure I'd want an Up/Citigo over this, to me they feel really flimsy. There are a lot of good options for that money though, a Swift over this seems such an easy decision. All that said, part of me still thinks it'd be funny to get a Picanto GT-Line S (2018 onwards only) with the 100hp engine and chip it since that can apparently get them up to 140hp which would be mad in something like this. Sadly that would cost over £12k and you can go a LOT faster for that money! A same-age 208 GTi or Corsa VXR is actually cheaper. I'd swap a 4 year warranty for double the power (untuned) happily in that case. Fun little side note: Sandown Mercedes of Guildford have listed a 2020 GLE 400d on Autotrader for £1,317. Guessing that's meant to have a 5 at the start.
I think the GT line is very cool, of course being slightly newer! Speaking of cars being sold… I got a message about the yellow Cayman I reviewed after doing your one by an interested buyer, and they’ve bought it! Might be time to start brokering car sales…
Unlike a three cylinder Polo this won't suffer with timing chain issues and will probably be infinitely more reliable, as for your comments on body roll that must be a bad example you are driving.
@9:15, my current car is a mark 2 Skoda Fabia and will fall out of ULEZ compliance next year. I am vacillating between a Picanto and a late model mark 5 VW Polo. I have been forced to massively up my budget and am thinking of a bells and whistles top of the line Picanto as opposed to the much more expensive Polo with lesser specs. The drawback with the Picanto, however, is the tiny boot space. The Fabia's is huge, which is why I will probably end up with a Polo.
7 years warranty, and on top of that you get 3 years of "coulance" first year 70% second year 50% third year 25% or something. But nonetheless 10 years of warranty. Name one cheap manufacturer who even dares to give more then 5 years
Wrong one to compare. If you’re talking about your first Skoda or the Polo you’d need to compare that to the Rio or ceed for drivability although I get the price stops that and that’s what we’re talking about. You also need to remember these have a 7 year warranty so you’ll get a 5 year old ‘1’ model with 2 years warranty still on it hence the price stays higher.
Personally I think the Kia Venga is a better first car than the picanto. The 1.6 engine ones are rarer but have enough power for doing whatever you want without being over powerfull they also have a suprising amount of room inside.
I think you are not reviewing it in the way it's meant to be reviewed. In its outset, It was designed to gain huge market share as a new car Vs ford, vauxhall, VW group etc... In the super mini market. Sub £7k, 7 year warranty, amazing reliability. No other brand could offer anything close to that. It's actually a testimant it's held its value so well Vs it's competitors really Sure you can get an older polo for half the price, but it'll be much older, probably higher milage, worse economy, more expensive to run, none ulez, less reliable etc... You've got to compare apples to apples
Funny enough I’m buying mk3 as my first car. The quality is cheap but not really that bad. I was sitting in 50k Kia and they are not that much better in terms of finish. They do have a nicer plastics but it’s not BMW by any stretch. Yeah it’s gets expensive as brand new car but there are many benefits to owning small cc car here in Korea. Tax, parking and some other fees are half price so you get some of your money back. It’s just a shame they don’t offer turbo version here. I’m really looking forward to it as our 1st car and we will most likely keep it as a 2nd car for the city. They do keep their price quite well here too.
I say just get a daewoo lacceti hatch great leg room, looks great, has a decent boot , is a daewoo truely a briliant car or if you want something smaller a daewoo matiz
How weird, I'm a big fan and bought my ttrs off the back of one your videos, but I'm also in Paphos on holiday this week as well! Great minds think alike 😆
Cyprus been twice once to Aya Napa and the other to Paphos each time I've been I hired a Suzuki Vitara, strange seeing United Nations on 1 side of a field then Turkish on the other side of the field down the split of the island.
I'm sorry but this is a dreadful review. I really don't understand what JB's terms of reference / expectations are. He comments about seating capacity and relates that to being a city car, those two features have nothing to do with each other; and the rear seat legroom is actually quite good, I am 5' 11" and if set up the drivers seat for me then there is plenty of room for me to sit behind myself. If he wants to talk about first cars then why not mention of insurance .... probably the biggest single cost factor in any young persons car today. Far more important than any of his (in my opinion) uninformed comments about the car. I'm sorry but based on the comments made vs. my own experience of this and most of the others cars he mentions then I find most comments are just plain wrong. Very sorry to be so negative, but I just don't understand where JB is coming from.
a car was never designed to have fun in, it was designed to take you from point a to point b. you're driving the wrong car mate,, you should be driving a ferrari
we own first gen Picanto and i agree with what u said about the handling and it really feels big
ooo nice! i luv the location, and very nice review
Cheers man!

@@CarsWithJB Ha, that's awesome. If anyone asks you about my white one next spring you know where to send them 😁

Very fair point re the warranty which I forgot to mention - it’s definitely a bonus

Personally I'm not a fan of the looks and the tiny rims and the skinny tyres. Also the lack of a coolant gauge doesn't help my opinion on it
Very fair!

Love the fuel mileage claim initially 🤣🤣🤣. I'm also the pope .
It’s the best seller as a budget first time car

Haha enjoy it! I actually came back a couple of weeks ago, but now off in Portugal - really enjoyed Cyprus though

Yeah super weird - but such a cool place to go regardless!
How about to take it at Cyprus car race track!!? 🤣🤣🤣
It would probably flip over 😅
@@CarsWithJB 🤣🤣🤣. And that is the all point to take it to the race track!!! 🤣🤣🤣
I have one for my wife, cheap good car, better than toyota echo or yaris
As long as it does the job!

Absolutely correct. Should be a brutal comment to this useless man😂
your car tire pressure is too high dude hahaha
See if you can test drive a Picanto to compare!
I assume you mean the i10??
Oooh sorry i meant the Picanto GT
@@c4alanngo: I'm considering a better spec Picanto, the drawback is the tiny boot.
