What kind of hero you are Mr. Jake? Thanks for all these videos. I've a fear of missing out your videos because I've been waiting for a good time to binge watch. Give me a promise, if you delete them from here, send me a private link to reach them. Gotta go, thanks!
Hello Jake, I'm brazilian and unfortunately we don't have much tutorials on After Effects in my country. I'm learning so much with you. Thanks for being so awesome!
Just wanted to return and give a huge thanks to you for this video. This video was the start of me learning about wiggle and random which started me on the path to learning to animate graphics and create the graphics in my latest video. Anyway, you're a hero. Thanks so much!
BTW, you said that you never used the other values of wiggle, and in the description you have a link to "how to loop wiggle"and thats the perfect example where you use all the values of wiggle. Thanks again!!!
Love it! Been enjoying binge watching your tutorials on effects recently. The last effect I've been using for a good long while, you can make it simpler by just putting using a time expression in this case. Just time*(amount of changes per second). I'm most fond of time*6. This way the random seed will just keep rising until it reaches its limit (which I believe is 100,000). I've not had a comp long enough to reach the limit just yet. I believe it would have to be about 4.6 hours long!
Hey Jake! I love your tutorials; they are very thorough and helpful. Can you do a video on what you think are the best after effects plugins? Thank you so much!
Wow ! This is quite a valuable, info-packed tutorial, it was truly informative and easy to follow and understand due to your clear and concise way of demonstrating what you're saying 👏 Thank you for sharing this amazing knowledge with us. Wish you all the best, keep up your awesome work 👏
Hey Jake thank you so much for being on UA-cam, I really liked your explanation and your tutorials are great. I liked the demo animation but I doubt that was made by a wiggle expression only , there is kind of bounce effect I guess ! am I wrong !!
Tutorial request. How to do your hair in the morning. But also keep up these awesome tutorials, I remember you from Skillshare but haven't had an account in forever so it's good to hear from you. Really great you and Mt. Mograph are friends too :D
Hi Jake, I was wondering if there is a way to ease out a wiggle expression so that the property goes back to its original value and stays quiet. (?) Always thankful for your tutorials!
Watching this video got me curious. Can the value of the wiggle intensity be set based on the color of an object? (Example: if hex = #ffffff, then value of parameter X = 0. If hex = #000000, then parameter X = 100) And, if written properly, would numeric values between 0 and 100 be automatically generated for every grayscale color in between pure black and white? I'm sure there is more than one way to accomplish what I want, but what I'm trying to do is delay the wiggle of a particle. In plain english: When a particle is born from the emitter, it shoots out in a straight line. One second later the wiggle begins to affect the particle. When the particle reaches near death, that's when it will be wiggling the most. If I simply put a 'wiggle (0,0)' keyframe at the beginning of the timeline and 'wiggle(5,100)' at the end of the timeline, every particle on the screen will be wiggling. I just want the near-dead particles to be wiggling.
Hi Jake! So love your tutorials! I was wondering what the expression would look like if the offset was moving in the X direction? would it be [wiggle(8,3).value[0][1]]; Thanks so much!
Is there a way to be able to wiggle each separate group within Contents? What I did was create many lines in AE in one layer. I imported into AE and Created Outlines. I now have within Contents many groups, one for each line. Can I rotate each one separately without having to go through every single one of them. I want a very light random rotation for each.
Hi Jake. As always, a great tutorial! On a "fake stop motion" project I worked on long ago, I had the project set up with expressions, so that the objects would only wiggle when they were in motion, without having to keyframe sliders. This was really cool, because when doing stop motion, the objects that don't move, shouldn't wiggle - and having to keyframe the wiggle sliders in/out all the time can be very time consuming, if you have to change the animation a lot. I don't have access to my old project, and I can't remember what I did to achieve this. Do you have a tutorial on this? I've been looking but I cannot find it. If not, it would be really cool if you could do one, as I'm sure you'd be able to solve it. Cheers.
I actually teach this technique in a class on Skillshare called The Stop Motion Look in After Effects. The idea is that the wiggle amount is based on how fast the layer is moving.
I get errors with your 10:48 expression, but this works: a = wiggle(1,12); [value[0], a[1]]; I don't know how to program. I am animating text, maybe it's different. I couldn't find POS until I clicked on the littel 'Animate' arrow. I'm on ae 2024.
Thanks Jake. When I have AE questions I ALWAYS check out your tuts because you create clear, accurate, fun and concise tuts.
Facts.
Really cool tutorial. Not only touching on the wiggle expressions, but also learning how to apply a vintage effect. Thanks a million!
That's actually a really good tutorial , i like how you went out of your way and made motion design sequences to explain the functions
Just here to say this is pure gold.
Thanks Jake.
Wow, I love how you visually explained an expression, been watching tutorials for 10+years, this is a first. Very well done!
Thank you!

Hello Jake, I'm brazilian and unfortunately we don't have much tutorials on After Effects in my country. I'm learning so much with you. Thanks for being so awesome!
What I like here are the explanations. At first, I came to have a motion design, I left understanding how it worked. Thank you

Best expression tutorial I have ever seen
finally a video that is not too fast or slow and boring. I am just a beginner, but hope to catch up to you.
Thank you. I actually always found it usefull to be able to time the wiggle. I actually hardly had the use for just a "random" wiggle
_You are the man. Actually, you are the BEST!!!_
BTW, you said that you never used the other values of wiggle, and in the description you have a link to "how to loop wiggle"and thats the perfect example where you use all the values of wiggle. Thanks again!!!
finally found a youtube channel for learn AE expressions
Too Bad Jake is no longer in motion are you even alive bro
QUALITY CONTENT!!!

Hey Jake thank you so much for being on UA-cam, I really liked your explanation and your tutorials are great. I liked the demo animation but I doubt that was made by a wiggle expression only , there is kind of bounce effect I guess ! am I wrong !!
You're right! That was just done with motion 2's excite feature, which adds overshoot to any animated property.
It makes me want to dig deeper into expressions, thanks! :D
its so helpful to know wiggle contains all dimension
Tutorial request. How to do your hair in the morning.

This video was great. Thanks so much. :)
the "posterizeTime" tip is very useful
Thank you :)
I used wiggle(0.5,100,1,15)
to get a smooth wiggle for velocity expression especially for balloon effects
Thank you so much for this! This comment has been such a life saver!!
Great Tutorial really well explained! Thanks, now you have a new subscriber! Thanks a lot!!

Why you are not active on youtube? Please make more tutorials how AE expressions work.
I love you.
Hey Jake could you make a detailed tutorial on toComp() and fromComp() expressions. I heard that will open many creative possibilities to MO artists.
thanks! now I understand this!

Muchas gracias Jake!
Awesome tutorial , thank you :)
Thank you again
Can we use wiggle in wiggle? That is, is the expression wiggle(wiggle(1,3),wigglye(1,4)) valid?
Thanks so much Jake!
very cool Tut voice. great teaching thanks!
Brilliant ❤️🔥❤️🔥
Great teaching thanks!
Ok. Jake where were you all this time? Man you really know how to teach. Thank you. Ps. Do you have any AE course?
Thank you! I've been on Skillshare, check out my courses there - Skillshare.com/jakebartlett

Jake how many hrs do you work in a day ?

Hey Jake! I love your tutorials! What's your opinion about animation composer plugin?
I think it's super handy when you need to apply motion quickly and still be able to adjust aspects of the motion!
