Japanalysis did a great job covering this in-dept 6 months ago. The tax-evasion part was exposed by that interview she did with a UA-camr called KoreTube where she basically snitched on herself responding with confusion once he asked if she paid any taxes. It's a great video I'd recommend if you want to fully understand the lengths she went in her stupidity.
Oh yeah that’s right i forgot he mentioned that lol. This is also just so on point Japan. Where your committing a crime and if you get interviewed that felon will confess that crime they did lol.
It's kind of disappointing to see them being able to deliver harsh punishments when it comes to drugs or money fraud but leniency and misplaced empathy when it comes to assault and child abuse.
There's some more information left outta that article that I thought was pretty funny. She went on some radio show/podcast and ratted on herself to the host, thinking it would make her sound cool. He was calling her a criminal and called her out on the taxes being dodged and she threatened him to not release the tape, but he did anyway
The fact that a chronically lonely girl has the self-awareness to scam similarly lonely people, while knowingly falling victim to the same scam herself for some sliver of companionship (and using her own scams to fund that relationship no less) is perhaps as Japan as Japan gets.
I saw this before. Apparently, she was also obsessed with Korekore (Japanese keemstar) and did everything she could to get on his show, at which point she just straight admitted to her fraud to the entire internet in an incredibly nonchalent way.
I remember watching another UA-cam video about this. Since she basically scammed the three men saying she was in debt, gets all this money. Then, to find out she’s also in debt because she spends all her money on a single man in a host club because she was lonely 😂. The cruel irony because she was scammed the same way that she scammed the three men. (Edit). I think the host she was buying is also being investigated for fraud as well if I’m not mistaken I forgot.
Host clubs are super shady, Many girls in Japan are forced into sex work due to host clubs Host can get these girls drunk, and they do one of two things Drug their drink, and then do stuff and blackmail them Or while they are intoxicated, they put a lot of drinks onto a tab, meaning you owe the club so then they put you into contact with a brothel
As someone that frequently watches videos about scammers getting busted, you would not believe how many scammers end up being conned by the dumbest sh*t.
Yeah interviews with former hosts is really polarizing. They tell how they're encouraged to tell their victims (they are victims) to lie, steal and scam to afford their company. The more they're with them the higher they charge, to the point they even tell these young men and women to steal or prostitute themselves. Only once they can no longer pay or another victim is getting them more money, do they 'dump' them. This is why I was not a fan of Joey giving that one host any screen time. It is a predatory job, manipulating the desperate and lonely.

So she defrauded men by selling herself, to be defrauded by a man who is selling himself and knows the money she's using to pay him is dirty and she's getting done for taxes?
What exactly is the scam? The whole relationship between a sugar baby and sugar daddy is she spends time with him and what not and he gives her the sugar. I dont understand whats legally wrong, morally yes, but you dont go to prison for that. These men didnt give her money for nothing, sex, time and what not, and even if she lied to maybe get more pity sugar, its still not a legal crime . @@yansakuya1 even that... I'm not sure if thats a crime 🤔 also when you say "scam" its referring to her tricking these men. Morally is wrong but not legally. And how she did it, is what she was sharing yeah? So yeah, I don't see how that's illegal. I don't know, it just seems kinda eh... Japan literally has companies where you can pay and rent a girlfriend/boyfriend and other family members and what not. Even prostitution is a thing in Japan, so when a girl becomes a sugar baby and gets money from men, I don't see what the crime is... all I can see clearly is, these men were butt hurt not by the fact that she took their money (they gave her money) but because the money she earned, she spent it on some dude.

She was basically a Nigerian Prince; she'd tell these men that she needed money for hospital bills, that the Yakuza was after her and things like that. That's more than just being manipulative. She also outright called what she was doing a scam and told others to do the same, which is how she caught the attention of the police. She paid taxes for most of the scammed money, afaik she only got fined for tax evasion.
Yeah I got the same impression at first and some Japanese people even accused the victims, which is pretty wild in my opinion. I guess it simply depends on how the "victims" preceive what she did. Only if she was little smarter and those guys didn't find out that she was lying and selling the manual of "how to cast spell", it wouldn't end up like this.
@@punospoo6 Selling her manual was her most critical mistake, because some of the people she sold it to, who started following her plan, were less careful about "aftercare" - meaning the part where you make sure your victim feels all right about the whole thing. Back in November last year I heard this topic while I was in akihabara, my own hotel warned me about people in bars with scams but this is another level of insanity
People are being too exculpatory of the host club angle, but it’s getting to the point where it is a serious problem. That industry needs cleaning up from top to bottom. What they do is as bad if not worse than what this woman did to those men, that is, scam a huge number of lonely young women out of their money, and ensnare them into debt traps that force them into sex work in Kabukicho.
The whole story is crazy. The only reason they got her was because one of the girls that got her guide book DIDNT follow it correctly and got caught, which led back to Mai. Mai also has a husband and was living like she was poor because ALL the money went to the host guy.
This is an extreme example of a larger scale phenomenon. man how comes that everyone is covering this now? is it because she just caught her official sentence or something ? Japanalysis covered it 6 months ago in full depth. but hey thank you Joey. it's a really devastating news to hear indeed
This one girl I used to be friends with online is a foreigner that lives in Japan and has a sugar daddy solely for worshipping her idol and buying polaroids with her. She's scarily obsessed with her and delusional..
I remember seeing a video about her. Pretty sure they mentioned in that video she was married as well to a guy from another Asian country. Not sure if the article mentions that. They mentioned in the video that the host she spend all the money on was also being investigated. In the other video as well they showed her getting interviewed by a Japanese UA-camr and when he confronted her and called her a bad person she let out these very annoying high pitch shrieks that still haunt my nightmares.
papa katsu for hosts is pretty common in japan.. especially the kabukichou area there are tons of girls standing there to get picked up close to the kabukichou park
What a horrible situation and I hope Riri knew that just because she spends so much on a host it doesn’t mean anything will come out of it. He will be gone the second she has no money and she’s buying the fake sense of love! I don’t see anything wrong with visiting host club if someone wants to…as long as visitors know it’s all just nonsense sweet talk and that they set their limit. Also.. people like Riri take advantage of everyone regardless…yes even of those who are not lonely because then it’ll be some kind of sad sob story to gain sympathy instead of trying to romantically get the attention of the person. Who is to say people in relationships are not lonely because I know people can be more lonely in a relationship than if they were single sometimes so I don’t think just because someone has somebody doesn’t excuse them from being lonely at all. Sad world we live in but yes, this is why everyone needs to be careful.
"Cuteness doesnt mean innocent"...Well THATS the UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE CENTURY!! It's just like with wild animals, "Cuteness DOES NOT mean HARMLESS". LMAO!!!
I always wonder what makes men give so much money to these kind of girls. Surely it's not just making them pity these girls. The amounts of money spent are absolutely crazy.
I was wondering when you were going to cover this. I learned about it from a guy who talked about the shit she did by comparing it to the DENNIS system lol
I'm a sugar babe and gotta say i have played with the thought of scamming the dudes when i was super desperate and in 25k debt, but I always had my conscious nagging at me, so I understand TO A DEGREE why shes doing what shes doing but then actually acting upon those intrusive thoughts will end up bad and anyone with a brain can see that
If there's one thing I've learned in line it's: "If something sounds too good to be true, it's probably false." And this is a perfect example of that lesson.
Tbh, that host guy is kinda what my standpoint is too. Like, I wouldn't care where my money comes from. They paid for my services, they get the services. If I was a Host, I'd take the cash and shut up about it. Live my life or something.
Oh I remember this girl. She did an interview that went kinda sour and exposed her for everything and more. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 But if people want to do it that’s on them.
I knew someone that was a sugar baby. She was always looking for "sugar daddies". Eye Roll! There is a reason I say that. She was always complaining about how these guys would spend money on her for the first month maybe 2 maybe 3 months. Then stop... They were on fixed incomes because they were collecting SSI/Disability/Pensions, the works. They would have money saved up and spend a little on her and she like immediately move her stuff into their houses. I was shocked and told her she was moving way too fast with these guys and she would say "but they said they would take care of me" blah blah blah. Guess what... a few months later - you said it. Break up! And she would come crying to me! Girl grow up! It's a toxic trait I think. The way she did it at least, definitely. It's not my thing that's for sure.
I have this weird feeling that whoever the hell the host guy was, he was in on the scam. At least coercing the girl to get more money. Mental illness and loneliness is a hell of a drug. Everyone in this story has some fault in it.
Real friendship and companionship that helps people out of loneliness and depression shouldn't require even a single cent. I rather play Coop on StarCraft 2 rather than paying money for fake relationships and getting drunk.
Listening to your take on the cause of declining "feel of happiness" -- More people are opened up to Western and other societie/ cultures through Internet--I found myself think "I agree!". And Yes, Japanese work-life balance is so shetty💦 As you say, working style many Japanese workers are forbed to adopt is absolutely brutal!

man how comes that everyone is covering this now? is it because she just caught her official sentence or something ? Japanalysis covered it 6 months ago in full depth. but hey thank you Joey. it's a really devastating news to hear indeed
i assume it's because she's been given a sentence. iirc people covering the story before were moreso because she had been caught then
This one girl I used to be friends with online is a foreigner that lives in Japan and has a sugar daddy solely for worshipping her idol and buying polaroids with her.
Girl here tried to start the first-ever Sugar Baby Enterprise
papa katsu for hosts is pretty common in japan.. especially the kabukichou area there are tons of girls standing there to get picked up close to the kabukichou park
So she scammed 3 men to then be scammed by another man.
Another reason to love 2D girls for me
I'm a sugar babe and gotta say i have played with the thought of scamming the dudes when i was super desperate and in 25k debt, but I always had my conscious nagging at me, so I understand TO A DEGREE why shes doing what shes doing but then actually acting upon those intrusive thoughts will end up bad and anyone with a brain can see that
If there's one thing I've learned in line it's: "If something sounds too good to be true, it's probably false."
And this is a perfect example of that lesson.
Hosts technically do the same thing from their customers. They make them fall in love with them for money. How come they don't get arrested 😒
Yelp, at least she didn't go into Yuno Gassai territory.
But if people want to do it that’s on them.
Didn't you cover her before? I seem to get a deja vu feeling seeing that face and story.
She spent her sugar daddy money on a legal sugar baby
She self report herself but put it on 100. Absolute insanity
Everyone in this story has some fault in it.
i think i watched a video about this girl. she did all this and gave all the money to the host meanwhile she lived almost close to a homeless life
always love your content mate
Her Motivation is literally a drama Manga plotline
She just want to spend on Chad
No I will not hear you out and no you cannot fix her!
You really don't know what evil is, dude.
Joey, Joey Joey Joey
The reason for her motivation is simple, to please the host dude, that's the reason
No need to be bewildered or confused, it's just damn simple and straight forward
Ah, Japan.
She made one simple mistake: Only Yoshi can commit tax fraud.
“Please sugar daddy responsibly”
It's actually pretty common for women going to host club, to go in debt and sell themselves to pay off depth or being able to keep meeting the hosts. Nil Nilgiree explains it in one of her videoes
sounds like a Yakuza game side quest
I remember her, she did an interview basically promoting this sad little scam. I said to my husband she is heading for jail.😊 and sure enough here it is in plain sight. What’s worse is she spent it on fake romance so she can get a little bit of attention. God I’m glad my eldest sons are both In happy relationships
yes she spent it on romance girl is not a real gold digger ha!
This shit happens all the time in the US
Japanalysis has a good video about the whole scam itself
phone scams in eu is 1-2 times per day each person
