    I love ultralight fishing. I went to a creek for an hour this evening and caught a couple of smallmouth and some rockbass. I broke my defy silver rod a couple of months ago so I need to replace it. 👊👍

    Less about the line guide's brand and more about the ring material. Some of the newer ring material has greatly reduced the weight and thickness of line guides. Then you add the actual material of the line guide frame (more so than brand still) and it can mean something.

    I wish i could get Mercury to replace our Evinrude -etec. We have a Z118 the outboard runs fine it’s cooling issue anything over 3,000 rpms the heat alarm goes off in the boat. There are no technicians near by even if it’s 30.00 fix so it’s been a year at least. since we could take her out. So we put the cover on it and two tarps. Last forums cease operating until seen by a tech. It’s just 150 hp motor. It is Christmas 🎄 They could show up bring engine dolly or if they have a Fix. No it’s not the water pump had that thought but last year it was pumping plenty of water. It could be a bad thermostat to bad psi gauge God only knows.

    Seeing that bend I’d say more moderate to moderate-fast at tops. The problem with most ultralights is that the blank is so thin that even most “fast” rods have a seriously moderate bend. Da Hammer has a St. Croix and we call it the Buggy Whip. No way in the world that thing should say “fast” anywhere on it. You know I love and use my ultralights for anything so I’d like to see this in a 10’ and really put it to the test! 😈

    • @paulglass7268
      @paulglass7268 10 місяців тому +2

      We did a 6’ so folks could cover streams and open water. It’s got more backbone than you’d think but the weight range we wanted it to shine at is 1/16-1/32 so it had be somewhat soft to load properly at 6’.

    • @ExplorishingAdventures
      @ExplorishingAdventures 10 місяців тому +1

      @@paulglass7268 Got ya. Personally I normally only use a 7’. Yeah, sometimes in the thick stuff it’s a pain while traveling but 7’ will often let me reach right over and drop instead of having to even cast. That’s also where having a truer fast action helps because it takes less to get a good hook set. My youngest daughter uses 6’ but that’s just because it is what she’s more comfortable with at her height.

      I just happened to think -Remember when there used to be a Quick-fire type of an Open-Faced Spinning Reel out on the Market, back probably between 25-30 Years ago? They were equipped with a Plastic Trigger, that you could use with your index finger, to open up the bail, and be able to get a quicker cast, other than opening up the bail with your finger(s)? I've had a couple of those types of Open-Faced Reels in the past, and they were really fun and fast to work with...as long as the Trigger didn't either malfunction or break off.
      I also became a fan of the Underspin Closed-Faced Reels, that had a trigger underneath the reel. Man! They were so much fun!

    If you want a great UL rod for only $65, the Bass Pro Shop’s Crappie Max Quick Tip is amazing. It has Fugi guides, a really nice reel seed, and the second half of the rod is made of carbon. This rod is easy as good as any $100-150 UL rods. I have used the Dobins Siena Panfish elite ($160) and the Crappie Max Quick Tip feels almost as good if not just as good. And BPS gives you a reel with the rod. The reel isn’t great but the rod is amazing.
