"Remember the dummy who said 'Forget going to that city'? Well, forget forgetting it. Let's get that thing open!" -- Eric has courage when there's a need for it.
👍
Right on.
Ramoud is also voiced by Peter Cullen. That guy can go from malevolent as Venger to this charismatic father figure at the drop of a hat.
6:08 Seriously, has anyone, ever, said "STOP!" with more authority???
Also played the one shot Nightwalker.
That explains why Venger isn't in this episode.
Coran from Voltron. And...of course...Optimus Prime

Hook Horrors, right out of the old MM.
She is the idea from THE first Unearthed Arcana.

Not every goes around and steals from everybodys pockets. Think of Dick Grayson.
With that staff. A number of her stats and skills.
Get a boost.
If you notice she gets her own theme song.
@@tonyvillarreal1812 No-the point is, she's got arms like noodles, thinner than Bobby's, someone who's 5 years younger than her, so it's unrealistic for her to have this strength. Also, if you noticed in the first few episodes, she was shown running noticeably slower than even Hank, who hasn't shown any signs of super strength although he is muscular.
16:54 When Bobby see’s his sister is one of the purest moments of the series. As an only child, it made me with I had a sibling.
Me too. I feel the exact same way. I've been an only child most of my life. My little sister died when I was nine back in '86, so this was a touching moment for me as well.
@@presidentsnow7315 I'm so sorry 4 your loss. 😢
eric showed that even though he acts like a jerk most of the time deep down he really does care i mean the part where he said ramand was alot nicer then his dad ever was and he was willing to help ramand find his daughter proves he not only cares but he has a heart as well.
Best one line of the whole series to me. This is the episode I always recall.
He also is the only sane person in this show
Eric’s just a jerk because he’s a spoiled rich kid and used to getting his way. The realm represents a complete lack of control for him which is why he’s always grumpy. But he shows in the series time and time again that he’s every bit as brave as the rest.
I think Eric often acts clever and self-praises a lot in order to hide his insecurities and poor self-image.
Likely his dad always tells him that he is no good and never says anything positive to him. So he compensates by acting all arrogant to hide his own insecurities.
"Roll Your Tounge, Eric."
City at the Edge of Midnight sounds like it would be an awesome adventure module.
True. For nwn
One of my favorite cartoons when I was younger.
Still one of my favorites.
Closely tied with Gargoyles.
@@taliesin159Mine too!
When Eric says Ramoud is better than his dad ever was it shows Eric as bit of a sad character. He may have a lot of money but he doesn't have a nice family.
Certainly sheds a light into Eric's history, experience and personality.
One of my top favorite episodes in the series! Ramud is an awesome character and a true Dad. Each of the gang found a father in him which was so heart-warming. The Nightwalker is one of the most creepy antagonist in the series so far and a clever reference to the Boogeyman legend. I bet Jimmy will feel stupid when he learns it was not a dream lol!
@@taotzu1339 That is one way to see him at first but thankfully he wasn't.
This is an unforgettable adventure that change is difficult but do not change is lethal. We can Erick take care of Bob when the Nightwalker appear at night and took Bob and when he does not complain during the opening dimensional portal and during the fiigh with the Nightwalker he was defending all with his shield of the rays of the Nightwalker and so Erick change to help his friend Bob is very hard, very difficult but do not change is lethal to any one.
@@marzomarcolinoordonesmarco6169 I 100% agree with you and it was great to see the admirable, selfless and loyal side of Eric. That's the mark of a real friend and team member. Change is hard, yet when we are at our lowest or most critical of stages in our personal trials, we are more open to it than we realize.
Well, I'm on episode 16 and although I've loved every episode, this is my favorite so far. What a great story. This episode is also a real turning point for Eric's character development.
This episode demonstrates the time dilation of wormholes.
From Jimmy’s pov, it was still Sunday night but Hank and company had been in the Realm for quite some time.
If they could’ve found a way home, there’s a chance that not much time would’ve passed by on their home plane, maybe just a day or two.
ya which makes me think they will be stuck here for a long long time. Plus Jimmy refused to warn their parents so no matter how much time goes by the kids are still lost.
Eric is a beast in this episode

Isn't it amazing how animals always seem to sense danger before we can. At the 11:10 mark, Uni starts fretting right before Bobby gets kidnapped.
Yes, it's not the only moment in the series when Uni reacts before anyone else. The same situation was in "The Last Illusion" when Uni recognized the illusion of Venger as the mounted Greek-style warrior and in "The Citadel of Shadow" with the recognition of true colors of Kareena.
6:08 "Stop!"..... That right there is the single best utterance of that word.... EVER! I know it's coming and each time I get chills. Peter Cullen... legend!
This is why i found it hard to sleep on a night time as a little girl :(
Great cartoons do that ................and its hard to find cartoons THESE DAYS that are as good as these are
I could not agree with you more, nowadays all we have is cheap animation that looks like it was drawn by a 5 year old, no decent story, lame humour and just special effects (that usually look awful) but nothing else or we get LAME reboots of things that were originally good but the reboots are an insult to the original.
@@lusyhognaston3777 Yep most films today are bombarded with cgi its not even entertaining .
Im not saying all cgi is bad .
This felt like an arabian nights homage and Ramoud reminded me of Sinbad from the old movies that i saw from videos.
I find it interesting that the classes of barbarian, cavalier and acrobat feature in this cartoon two years before they were detailed in the hardcover rulebook Unearthed Arcana.
They had all been published in Dragon Magazine before being compiled into UA (and before the show premiered)
This was one of my favorite episodes as a kid...while simultaneously scaring the poop out me! 12:00 This one is MINE!!
The NIGHTWALKER - what?!? Kids enslaved to the Wheels of Time? So much was at stake in this episode, in my childish eyes.
12:40 The gang gets amped to go on a mission, using their magic weapons in concert! Presto has his shit together, and Erick isn’t complaining and actually wants to go into the scary inter dimensional portal?! Best. Episode. Ever!
I always thought the same thing. When the going got tough, Presto's hat worked pretty good!
I loved dungeons and dragons and still do including the books games
As great as he is, it’s awesome they didn’t use Venger as the big bad. It’s nice to have a little villain diversity.
What I found interesting with this episode is that apparently the world of "Dungeons and Dragons" exists in another timesphere, while the kids feel that time goes by in some way it appears that the time in the "real world" doesn't!
Land of the Lost implied that as well.
"Drag me to Hell" D&D style!
Ahhh I see you know about that movie also?
@@Tee-Dot-Tv Yes...it sucks.
This really brings me back. I loved this show as a kid. And it is just as much fun watching now as an adult.
That Ramud guy was kind of cool. I wish i had a father like him.
12:55-12:58 I've always found that an awsome concept for non-caster classes to use their magical weapons or tools to accomplish feats normally reserved for said casters, with some creative thinking like reopening magic portals or dispelling enchantments and wards. Especially like how they combined their weapons together, such a cool scene. (imho)
P.S. And yes I know Presto is technically the groups "caster" but considering that all of his "spells" are possible because of his wizard hat, he's not exactly what one might think of as an typical caster, more like a guy given a bag of wishes and must come up with rhymes on the spot in order to get an effect, often not getting exactly the things he asked for while still making sense as the wishes are so often loosely interpreted. (which is a neat limitation)
That little rag doll is so cute, the animators really deserve a pat on the back for the design.
8:40 First time Erick actually compliments the D&D world😮
This episode is my favourite! Ever since I was a kid I loved it
You can tell the character development and voice acting is top shelf goodness. They don't make em' like this anymore, unfortunately.
At 20:30 Hank is thinking: "Hmmm... I didn't notice Ramud was carrying TWO swords in his pants." =|
Ramud is the type of man ALL fathers should strive to be. For that matter, he's the type of PARENT people should aspire to be.
Loving, wise, kind, a good provider and willing to go to the ends of the earth to find their children (should they go missing)
Stand up guy, Ramud👍😁
10:26 - I think my heart just cracked for Erik a little.
Damon Jackson I like the way ramud treated the kids as if they were his own .
I once tried to create all of these characters in the Baldur’s Gate video game.
My favorite episode
After watching this episode as a kid, I began to be scared that I was going to disappear into a portal under my bed too and there was nothing my parents could do about it.
Rey Gonzales That is exactly why I keep tonnes of stuff under my bed these days!
I also thought there was a portal under my bed. I was sure it led to a hell like word populated by grabby disembodied arms.
The nightmare was - i) that you'd be dragged under in the first place and ii) that you'd never come back up again! I had a friend that used to "jump" into her bed every night - just in case something grabbed her!
this reminds me of the beyond belief episode where some kid got locked in a closet by bullies and all that was left was the kids clothes folded neatly on the floor. the episode was based on a true story based on actual events out in cincy
Maybe it was memories of this episode that used to make me convinced that a tiger and Incredible Hulk were under my bed. I used to have to find a tiny space to actually get into my bed as well, coz I used to pile all my toys up on it.
the "scream" as bobby gets picked up.. that`s presto`s voice actor
One of the most intriguing episodes from this whole serie, maybe the first key to understand this cartoon. Jimmy Whitaker says that "this is the Sunday night", he thinks he's dreaming and knows that the other kids had gone to the amusement park THAT evening. It shows that the kids are on other dimension where there's no time. It can't be hell, no pools or ice creams in hell at all. The second key is that their fight isn't against Vegeance because they had the chance to destroy him and didn't, and they were surely supposed to get home as in the Last illusion episode the girl sees Bobby coming back.
The episode which You refer to at the end is not "The Last Illusion" but "The Girl Who Dreamed Tomorrow".
Man,that Nightwalker looks like an action figure from the 1980s toy line Inhumanoids.
LOL Ya, he kind of does.
always wanted one of those things... store stuff inside their rib cages etc.
Sheesh, can you imagine if Jimmy was actually able to tag along to the amusement park? Wonder what character class he would portray?
Do not question the mighty jimmy about how to spell " bibble". #AquaTeenHungerForce #Kirby
Jimmy was bitch made and would of been destroyed by venger.
The shear imagination of the midnight clock is stunning. I have always been haunted by it.
Peter Cullen has done it again!
It's a shame the kids didn't stay with Ramoud in the realm; they'd at least have a home in the realm.
Kaidus4ce yeah, but they wanted to get back to their own world. They miss their family and friends, who I'm sure are wondering what happened to them
2:40 DM is holding that crystal like he found the perfect piece to complete his homemade bong, then he disappears right in front of them in his hurry to go complete it

Ah! We were so innocent back then. If only we had known what was to come.
truer words have never been spoken. Life was never as good as watching this cartoon late saturday morning knowing soon id be on my bike getting lost in the neighborhood with friends.
Every magic sword in this series shoots arcane onion rings.
They're sound & vibration waves.
ROFLMFAO! **leaps through the air and catches them in his mouth**
I love seeing Eric all brave and stuff 😊.
Watching this for the first time in about 15 years. Amazing how Eric is the heart and soul of the main cast, as a kid I always dismissed him as the group's Daffy Duck.
Ah hook horrors. One of my faves next to the Shambling Mound.
18:20 What the hell kinda school did these kids go to when Jimmy Whitaker is in their school? He talks like a teenager and looks like he’s 7. I get Bobby tagging along with Sheila, but Jimmy was supposed to be with them but stayed home to do homework?! I don’t get it
He’s in middle school with Bobby. Presto is freshman and the others are sophomores.
Fun fact: this episode scarred me as a kid cause I was afraid I'd be pulled under my bed

This is one of my three favourite epsisodes
I love you thank you for posting these cartoon episodes. I wanted to watch every episode when I was younger but never could find them. Now I’ve found them. 💫
one of the best episodes. Ramoud is a very likeable father figure for children.
wow, he has a Sound Sword like Lemongrab, unaccepatable!
ytubeanon More like Lemongrab has one like Ramud. This flagrant copying is UNACCEPTABLE!!!!
ytubeanon Probably where they got the idea.
Sure, and next you'll tell us Gandalf is a complete ripoff of Dumbledore.
This episode gave me nightmares as a child 🥶
That cursed oasis was a bit much for a kids episode
The opening scene in the bedroom is like something from Poltergeist. The oasis, though? I'll admit it's appealing enough that I'd risk becoming one of the Hook Horrors just to hang out there. :)
It’s amazing how creative & interesting those stories are that we grew up watching. Wish Hollywood would produce movies like this series. Great stories with action & lessons learned.
This was a really sweet episode!
Definitely the best episode so far.
my fav and most vivid memoriy as a kid
same... I always was fascinated that Jimmy remembered them going to the park that day.
Ramoud sure sounds like the great Ricardo 'Corinthian Leather' Montalban from Fantasy Island - although it's apparently Peter Cullen. The voice acting here is on point!
I thought the same, great voice. Really enjoyable episode
I can't thank the uploader enough for all of these episodes...absolutely made me smile for days! 😁
This was a particularly good episode. At some points it was dark, at other times the kids were a bit more bada-ss than usual. I give this one an A+
Ramon look like Sean Connery
If I am not mistaken Peter Cullen voiced Ramon. He regular character is VENGER!!!
I was thinking the same thing. The character also reminded me of Agamemnon in Time Bandits.

eric was pretty cool in this episode ! but am i the only one who wonder what he means by "better than his father" ?
Eric comes from a wealthy family, my guess is that his father wasn’t around much

11:15 and 11:17 Great Moment.
If the heroes found themselves without a way to return home, at least Ramoud is able & willing to take them in
Nice to see a positive portrayal of Arab men for a change.
Totally woke!
Yep 👍
My favorite episode! Ramud is awesome. Our heroes finally got a taste of safety and comfort (thanks for nothing, DM!). Eric finally showed a side of him that wasn't a complete douche. The Nightwalker is a solid villain -- scary and threatening (though a little too easily defeated). The heroes saved a bunch of children (including Ramud's daughter). And they offed their second monster in as many episodes. Thoroughly entertaining and satisfying.
I remembered this episode from the very first scene - sort of image that completely gets to you when your a kid. This was a great episode in just about every way. Throw-away line from Eric about background part of why this series get's character depiction right.
Also, loved the Hook Horror cameos - Fiend Folio all the way!
14:58 - 15:00 -- My Call Center team leader at the slightest fauxpas I do.
🤣🤣
10:02 Hank just Blu the eternal flame😭
The creatures at the beginning were made in the D&D toy line too, they were called Hook Horror. I remember I got him as a Christmas gift one year back in the day.
So does Peter Cullen voice both Ramoud and The Nightwalker?
One of the best episodes
Love those Hook Horrors.
In the modern cosmology, where do you think this would be? It looks like a twisted version of Mechanus.
Does Ramud visit this oasis once each year to ensure that it doesn't trap anyone else? Or did he hear the story of its annual appearance and decide to check it out?
He was depicted as a king who cares for others very much. The first seems more likely. You can guess he'll search for a cure for them somehow.
I think that's GI Joe music in the beginning fight scene.
Dave Assanowicz stock Marvel productions music. It was in GI joe and the Hulk.
This episode scared the shit out of me as a kid
One of the best and scariest episodes of the series, it's up there with Last Illusion, Stargazer, and Requiem
This episode is better than every single episode of Kenobi.
The realmmhas fascinating and bizarre landscapes... mostly wilderness and wastelands with only very few actual settlements. On and off the typical ruin or evil keep... but largely savage lands.
Let's all pause our nostalgia train for a moment and recognize that the opening oasis scene made zero sense.
The party shows up, destroys half the oasis, laugh as they're being attacked by crazy bird-people trying to kill them, hug and thank someone they've never met, and nearly murder all of the bird-people things themselves. Then, when Ramoud explains those things used to be people, brush it off as, "No worries, let's get out of here."
They're not horrified by all these innocent people transformed into monsters? That they nearly killed those people?
The part of not being phased by the story that the bird people were once humans is indeed weird but not being phased by them attacking them makes sense, they were attacked by Venger, Tiamat, Demodragon and much more, those things were nothing.
Great episode
You wonder how much time actually passes as there is some time passed from when they went to the amusement park. When Jimmy Whitaker goes to school the next day and they are all missing he will have to say he saw them but then they will think he is mad.
I never seen this, it's adorable lol.
Awesome villain death ☠️
18:11
See jimmy thought it was the same day... but it’s been months for them or even years....which fits the plot of...they are dead...most horror films have time frozen at death
Bom video ,bom para estudar inglês
Anyone know the name of the song that starts at 16:11?
As spooky as this episode is, I do not understand the monster's motivation. If the monster could only abduct sleepy people from worlds they were in love with ; then does that mean that the monster was trying to recruit others in preventing the monster from returning to a home it hated ? How did their breaking the clock manage to fix it ? What was powering this clock if enslaved children were forced to turn it backwards ? It is awfully polite of these monsters to let the characters keep their weapons. Would the monster still lose even if the heroes did not bother to save the barbarian ? With how hard the enslaved characters struggled to hold time still, it looks like it was inevitable. We could switch out any character from Dungeon Master's family and the hostage situation would still be exactly the same. At least this episode did not use a lame excuse for why the main characters did not go home at the end of the episode .
What's the meaning of the poster in the very beginning that says, "OLTER SPACE" instead of "OUTER SPACE"? It's drawn, so it can't be a typo....
THIS SHOW IS ODDLY DEEP... SUBTLELY DISTURBING....AND SECRETLY HELLISH... 1:02-2:26
Running out of episodes. Noooo!!
