But I realized that these slightly changed how I sleep recently ever since moving into my new home. • Maybe a change in mattress? When I was living in my old home, my mattress was harder. It wasn’t uncomfortable by any means, but it’s not something you could sink in and just relax. When I moved into my new home, I got a new mattress along with a new bed. This one was much softer. And I realize I ended up having a bit of a struggle getting up because I slept a bit too well! • Sleeping in a warmer environment? Because it’s currently winter where I am now, I’ve been turning in the heater in my room. The warmth of it might make you feel more relaxed and easier to get cozy and tired. But the downside is, some people might not do this because they say it might make them feel dry. Or they end up getting too hot. So if you do this, you might end up sweating. And of course you can’t really do this all season, especially summer. But find it harder to sleep when my room or my blankets are cold. • If you are the type to relax and wind down before sleeping, maybe spend an hour or two lying down on your stomach, read a book, be on your phone, while using your elbows for support to keep you upright. I don’t know if anybody else feels this, but I’ve noticed when I do this, I tend to doze off by accident. Or even fight hard to not nod off into sleep. I’ve been paying attention to this more when I’ve been frequently playing on my switch. • Make a pot of warm/hot tea and take it up with you in your room in a thermos. For me, the feeling of drinking a really warm drink makes me feel ‘full’ sometimes. And for some others, it might be why people tend to feel a bit sleepy after stuffing themselves full with food. I’d like to mention that you don’t HAVE to do these things. I’m definitely not a professional. But these are based off my experiences, as someone who has the bad habit of staying later up at night than intended, and not getting enough sleep sometimes.
