Clicker Train Your Cat To Balance On Their Back Paws
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 сер 2019
- I call it "sit pretty", but you might have another name for when you cat balances on their two back paws. This is a great exercise for your cat. Allow your cat to take the time they need to build the core strength to hold this position. Sit Pretty is a foundation behaviour for the double high five, so don't skip this one :)!
Happy training!

"Stand" was the first trick my kitty learned after sit! Whenever she greeted me she would 'stand up' on her back legs for me to scritch her head better and since it was a behaviour she already naturally did a lot it was a great entryway for us.
Love your videos, Julie. I have just taught my black void cat how to sit pretty in less than 10 minutes. It fills my heart to see my cat thinking and then getting the command.
Also, after introducing your techniques, cutting her nail has been fun and a bonding moment instead of a struggle.
I absolute love your content and I'm rooting for the growth of the cat school aka your business. I think it could be a good idea as a promotional content for your channel if you did reviews of viewers training videos and provide coaching of their training techniques.
Love and kisses to Jones.❤
Thankyou soo much.i always waited for a video like this 😊😊
This cat is so talented.
Omg I need to try this
Just discovered Cat School and love your vids :) My kitty knows how to sit and laydown on command and I just taught him high five. Decided to look for more tricks. So amazed at your kitty tricks! Going to teach my Ollie some new tricks thanks to you. Thank you!
Thanks for your kind note. Have fun training!
excellent ty
I love this video!! My cat loves to learn some trucks and get some treats
this is just so awesome!! I hope my cat will like these kind of trainings. I want to start as soon as possible, because she is a bit bored. But she doesn't like treats that much... So I just hope it will also work on her XD
Thankss gotta try this to my cat 😍
Love it
Hi Julie 🙋♀️I have already taught my cat sit pretty with the help of your video 😊🙂but now I’m realising she is getting lazy with it and barely taking her feet off the ground could you please give me some tips to help her improve thanks 😊
I love this trick but we’re off to a bad start and I’m stuck, Hunter keeps grabbing my hand with his paws, if i keep higher then he jumps 😫
Same 😔😔
ok
soooo cute ♡
My cat keeps holding onto my hands. How do I get him to not hold on
I have the same problem.
Me too. would really like some tips on this
Thank you for sharing, very helpful video. How long it takes to train one behavior? My kitten is 13 weeks old, is that too young to Train?
Excellent sister . (Praveen from india )
What brand of treats do you use? Btw amazing video!
Edit: OMG it worked!! Thank you so much! Jasper learned this in 4 mins 34 seconds!
I just need to do it from more far away because some times he touched my hand when I do the hand signal!
Thanks for sharing your progress!
Newton is 5months old can he learn these tricks
How do you keep him from gobbling/grabbing the treats in the bowl? My cats would be all over the bowl and not listen to me or pay attention to the treats in my hand
I was hoping you may offer some advice. I’ve been using your videos to train my new kitten (about 3-4months now) and we’ve been making great progress. I have a vacation that was scheduled before that I’m not able to bring her with. I have a good friend checking up and spending time with her while I’m gone each day…. But I’m super worried that the bond and all the training I worked hard to create will get destroyed with me being gone for 10 days. Do you have any advice or idea about this subject? Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
Ruby is my baby’s name :)
Super video ı m waiting for another tutoriel
Yes I'm also
I like your all teach. You can make a original cat school
Can I train two cats at the same time or lock one in another room and train them one by one?
Hello! I loved the video and started trying this but my cat grabs my cat and holds on to it (and ends up scratching me :( ). Do you have any tips how to make her just stand on her own instead of grabing my hand with her front paws? Thatd be awesome
I have the same issue too…
I like the way u teach ur cat but my cat is small and it doesn't listen to me wht can I do for that
Awww so cute! I wanna do this when I get my own cat! How easy is it to teach the cat to take a treat from your hand without accidentally biting?
Yeah my cat also constantly bites
My 4 month old cat gets to the point of sitting pretty, but keeps grabbing my hand. When I try to use a target stick she attacks it.
Try not rewarding her when she does that and maybe even use your go-to scolding word (for me it's tsk tsk).
😁😁😁 So ,good awesome!
Can we teach this for girl kittens and boy kittens age 8 month
This is amazing... I got my cat succesfully going up into the position... but I cant get her to stay, I tried feeding her multiple treats in a row but when I give her the first treat she just goes down straight away... what should I do to keep her in the same position for longer
Try using a lickable treat. If you are using dry treats, after you click, raise your cat back up to feed the reward in the Sit Pretty position. If your cat knows that the food is delivered in that position, they will be more likely to stay there. If neither of these suggestions works, please consider joining our online class to get support.
❤❤❤❤
When I try the 2 and 3 Spey they don’t put their paws down
My cat eats so slowly, I wish he would power through treats like that
Can you do a video of the duble high five?
I will add it to the list of future tutorials. It is available in our online classroom.
Yes please. I have taught my cat to sit, sit pretty, high five, spin, jump over arm, etc. But i just cant get him to give him to give double high five
Can you tell me in what order should I teach my kitten tricks?
Here is our beginner playlist: ua-cam.com/video/yM3n2mWZqUU/v-deo.html
My cat knows sit, paw, jumping through hoops and he comes when I call but when I tried this he almost attacks my hand to get the treat and always grabs my hand with his paws, I can seem to get him to stay in the upright position, any tips? We’re also having a little bit of an issue with the high five. When I used the post it for training, he doesn’t necessarily put the paw right on it but rather push it to the side to get the treat, which means when I try it with the hand he does a swiping move instead of putting the paw on it, any ideas there? ☺️ love all your videos! Do you have any tips for fetch?
Hi Vicki - Thanks for your questions. To give you a thoughtful and detailed response to your questions and see your training videos for feedback, I recommend you enter my online class.
My cat won’t stop trying to trap the treat with his paws. I can’t seem to get him to go up. Any tips?
Hi
Oh my god my cat is crazy
How do you keep them from jumping up and scratching, or biting WAY to hard trying to get the treat
I have the issue with mine, if anyone has any thoughts on how to deal with that I'd be grateful to hear them.
@@annaaa2507 did you figure it out? My cat has the same problem
@@ascentiall right now I toss the treat in the hallway and he (Loki) goes right after it, and then comes back after he got it. Loki is a very energetic cat (~2 years old), and highly food motivated, if I give him the treat right where we train I can't continue training my other cat(Thor) that's a little more paced as Loki will snatch the treat from under Thor's nose.
Any other suggestions are more than welcome.
My cat doesnt like to eat from my hands. Any suggestions on how I can do this trick with out feeding the cat from my fingers when she’s standing up? ❤️😺
There is a lesson in my online program where I outline step-by-step how to teach your cat to take food from you hand. I hope you will join.
🙍🙍😣😣
@@CatSchool Could you please link to this video? I have the same issue, but I couldn't find the video on how to teach her to take food from my hand.
@@erincastello5435 I have an online class on the website: www.catschool.co and in the class is a pdf of with instructions.
My kittens bite too hard to feed with my hand. I drop it on the ground or use a spoon. My kittens know sit and currently learning spin.
Can i use verbal signal instead of hand signal? Or does that not work with cats?
You can teach verbal cues but they are generally harder for cats to learn.
What if your cat is stuborn
Watch a video on how to teach Milo tricks
My cat grabs my hand with her razor sharp claws when I try to guide her into the sitting up position. Like many other commenters I'm curious how I can teach her this when she is so grabby. It does not matter from what height and if I tell her off, she still leaves my hands bleeding.
Check out our chair training tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/1kvdOyvrlsA/v-deo.html. Training your cat on a chair plus adding a lickable treat like Inaba Churu Puree, is an excellent way to work on Sit Pretty with grabby cats.
@@CatSchool thank you so much! Will check this out.
You need a microphone to record your voice because I can barely hear you with the volume fully on.
What’s the point off clicker training? Like wouldnt the fact that they got a treat be enough to let the, now they’re doing good?
If you just gave the cat a treat after they landed, they would think they earned a treat for sitting. The clicker takes a snapshot of the action you are rewarding. In this case, the action that earns a treat is going up on two paws. This video explains more: ua-cam.com/video/hRK5CGCreko/v-deo.html
@@CatSchool didn’t you give them treats while they were in the air though?
@@aharrypotterfan5951 It's not always possible to do that, for example, high five, eye contact, jumps, sit pretty at a distance, lying down (if the cat pops back up when you give food), backing up, ringing a bell. The clicker provides clearer communication. Keep watching our videos and learning :)
@@CatSchool ah okay, thank you! Also would I be able to just snap instead of using/buying a clicker?
Treat has to be used always, even when the cat completely learn a trick? Or they will slowly lose motivation to do tricks without food?
Just like humans work for money, and wouldn't go to work without earning a paycheque, animals need something to keep them motivated. For most cats, that motivation is a food reward.
This cat is IQ 500
so far this isnt working getting more exiting treats for my lazy feline
If that were my cat he'd be scratching and biting the thing with the treats in it..
My cats name is pepsi
I can't concentrate on the training, you are to beautifull :3
The sound quality on this video is very poor. Thankfully, there are closed captions. Please consider redoing this video with a better microphone. When you are teaching others something, it is important that your instructions are heard.
Clicker is old thinking.use d cat names instead
