    I just bought that same mower with the Kawasaki engine. The lowest price I could find was $3299 at The Home Depot. My Simplicity zero-turn which is now 20 years old just gave up it ghost. It was an amazing mower all that time. It puts a tear to my eye to have to put her down. Like you , I did a ton of research while looking for a new ZT mower, and came to the same conclusion with the Cub Cadet. This is a great video, very detailed. Thanks!

    Thank you so much for your video! I am looking to get a Cubbie Zero Turn as I have already purchased a regular Cubbie Lawn Tractor style last year. I decided a Zero Turn will be better suited for my 1-1/2 acre property. This is the exact mower I have been looking at and your review convinced me this is the one I should get. Thanks again!

      Awesome. I, unfortunately, am having a major issue and waiting for a shop to have an opening so I can get it figured out. Mine won't start. Good battery you can hear a clunk when you turn the key but that's it. Never been in the rain or snow and I keep a sharp eye on the fluids.

      I just could not understand it. I have been a small business owner for a long time. If I didn't/don't have an item on hand to sell, or available to order, I do everything I could to get it for the customer. That included sending them to competition. Bought the 54" model 2 weeks ago. First thing I did when I got it home was mow the neighbors yard lol. So i purchased one yesterday!
    Zt1 42 w the Kawasaki. First time zero turn owner, so i was pretty blown away by how easy it is to navigate around trees, fences, etc 😂
    I previously owned a Husqvarna 46 riding mower and it was a smooth ride. This zero turn beat me down, my back is shot after doing the back yard, the front yard has more of a smoother surface so it didn't bother me but i am getting a spinal fusion in two weeks and idk post surgery if the rods and pins can handle the vibration and ground and pound i took today. I do understand the front wheels are like blocks so its not going to be the best ride on any zero turn i would assume. The vibration wasn't that bad but I might be going back to a riding mower for my lower backs sake.

    • @poeonthego
      @poeonthego  9 місяців тому +2

      I also was amazed by the agility of the zero turn compared to my 1990's craftsman. Yes also agree about the lack of suspension. 2 things I did to help with that are 1. I lowered the tire pressure. This helped a lot. 2. I took the plastic seat bumpers (they call em springs but I don't agree) and replaced them with motorcycle seat springs. This greatly improved the ride. Good luck with your surgery and hopefully you can improve the ride on your new Zero Turn.

    • @grandfury5609
      @grandfury5609 9 місяців тому +1

      @@poeonthego Yes! That plastic stuff under the seat does not absorb anything, I will definitely be replacing w springs and I will also tone down the psi level on the front tires. Just an FYI Cub Cadet is owned and built by MTD as are so many of the others. And now MTD sold out to Dewalt/Stanely. I do like the Cub Cadets, I have had my XT1 LT46 for 7 years. Only repairs are the drivers fault. I have flipped in an 8 foot ditch. My wife hit a steel plate with the blades on, replaced spindle. I smacked full speed into a curb, minor weld repair. And I mow my 1.333 acres and part of my neighbors yard every week. I also loan it out to a neighbor who has 2 acres and this thing still mows like a champ. But, as i have gotten older I want the smoother ride of the zero turn and been looking. Like you I like the fact they have lights. I am in south east Texas and it is hot. I like to mow later in the night. My 2 hang ups with the ZT1 are rear tire size and the stamped decks. I also have hear bad reports on the vibrations.

    Just picked up a 2022 ZT1 50" from Home Depot. I liked it because of the Kawasaki engine & my experiences with them. Disappointed about the following: (1) No hour meter - CC dropped that feature about the 2021 model year, (2) the hydrostatic transmissions are the "residential" grade, and aren't designed to be owner-serviceable like my John Deere garden tractors (GT235, GT245), (3) no fuel gauge - you have to peer into the filler cap. Even my old JD L130 had a window you could look through. Price was right, listed at HD for $3,899 and my military discount helped out. Then I get an email from Home Depot telling me my "military discount" has maxed out at $400 for the year, and I have to wait until next January before it's available again for me. Dumb move, as far as I'm concerned. Their biggest competitor (favorite color is blue) gets ALL of my business for a while.

    • @poeonthego
      @poeonthego  2 роки тому

      Hey there. Yes I was disappointed with the lack of an hour meter as well. I installed one that I purchased aftermarket. The engine have been easy to maintain. I agree a fuel gauge would be nice. I flip the seat up to check the tank before use lol. I hope you get a long life of service from yours.
      Totally agree that it sucks Home Depot put a limit on Military discounts. I actually find that to be insulting to Vets like you and me. Nice thing is that you have the freedom to NOT give them anymore of your money. Thanks for watching the video and welcome to the channel.

    • @leechburglights
      @leechburglights 5 місяців тому

      Yeah, I just learned about the limit of $4k per year at HD. Be careful at Lowes because not everything will be discounted for military veterans. Found that out when doing a railing project around the pools deck. $750 purchase and no discount. I'm looking at a very lightly used one on MarketPlace right now.

    Well done review! Price point was my reason for buying the ZT1 42", I wish I got mine for what your price was. I bought mine late Aug '22 so I only have about 8 hrs on it. Had it home delivered and went through all the fun of uncrate and assembly. I do notice I've had to double cut more frequent than I desire. I bought the double bagger and so far I've noticed items are closer than they appear, other than that it works great on dry grass. I did slightly damp once and it clogged the chute of course. Bumped it quite a few times. The deck vibration doesn't seem to be an issue for mine. My tires dig into the turf as well. Still trying to figure that one out. I was going to get the plow attachment but the reviews scare me.

    $3100 at my cub dealer. I can get a john deere z365r for $3500 and it's a 48 in deck,selectable mulch control installed,24hp extended life Briggs engine,13" front wheels,20" rears. For what you gave for it you got a heck of a deal, but the z365r gets better reviews( mostly because of the shaky deck issues) cub has had. I think alot of that can be attributed to their mounting system on the front of the deck. It's only got the one hanger whereas most have 2 in front like the rear has. I doubt the frame size would be an issue because even with a 200lb operator the weights only around 700lbs. The front casters would only be supporting like 125lbs each,because most if the weight sits towards the back. I've never heard any complaints about flexing.

    ZTS2 50 here. Cost too much but Love it! What's with all that 2x2 mess out back? An Engine Roll bar? Rear bumper is too high, If I back up I can hit the hydros. It's a waste of valuable tool storage space. Some people use their ZT for a work platform around their mountainous property like I do. I need a place for a shovel, chain saw and rake etc, and a trailer just wrecks it's Mobility. Also what's with a $600 bagger that you have to get off to dump? It requires an ASIS (Ass Stays In Seat) Dump basket. I got it all figured out.

      I had little to no experience with zero turns. I looked into a lot of models. In the end it came down to price, company history, and availability. The bad boy models had very good reviews but I did not have a local dealer and the price was higher. I hear very good things about bad boy just have no real experience with them.

    I think the vibration issue was made about the 50" which has 3 blades and maybe that's it and another complaint was about the engine noise being really loud.
    You still a Fan of the ZT1 42"?

    • @poeonthego
      @poeonthego  2 роки тому +1

      I was finding the complaints on the Ultima ZT1. I hadn't looked at the other units. I also noticed that the complaints seem to have lessened in the year since I bought mine. I set mine up next to a Huskavarna 46" rider and my old craftsman. I feel it is actually a bit quieter, BUT, the craftsman is almost 13yrs old. The Huskie is 2 years old. I am still very happy with it. The simple fact it cut my mow time down by half and honestly is a good looking machine.

      @@poeonthego I actually have a Craftsman 46" now and it's 13 years old as well. I have nothing but respect for that tractor since we have had battles in my lawn. I've ran that thing into so many trees, up the kids slide, got clotheslined by the swing chains you name it and it still going. I've welded the deck back together 3 times. I'm rough on these things.

    Just got this mower yesterday. Overall works like it should when mowing and starts right up every time. I’ve found the throttle doesn’t stay on the full choke position it wants to slide back down on its own. Also when driving around I hear squeaking and not too sure where it is coming from…sounds like it is coming from the front. Last thing I’ve noticed is my left control arm doesn’t go all the way forward.. it goes like 90% of the way. It may just be a simple adjustment on the control arm knob. Not sure if anyone else has had these issues. Would be nice to know.

    • @poeonthego
      @poeonthego  2 роки тому

      Hello, I had the same problem with the left control arm and was a matter of adjusting it, for me. The squeak I have heard from others and most commonly appears to come from one of the caster wheels. I haven't had an issue with the throttle like that, although I pull it out of choke once started, almost immediately.

      @lawrencelg13 2 роки тому

      @@poeonthego Hey Man I appreciate the quick reply! I just went and messed around with it and the throttle stayed put but I found eventually it eases it’s way down if not pushed all the way up hard enough.. I just realized (user error). Also I think you may be right because of hearing the squeaking up front just really hard to tell. I looked at the caster on my left side and has no lube so I’m gonna try and out some on to see if that solves my issue!!
