We love our guy Payton here in Boston. Even if he did nothing else, he's a Celtics legend for those buzzer-beaters in the Finals this past year. But we all know he's got years more of amazing basketball to go for us.
Last year he averaged 24 pts 9 assists and 5 boards in games he started so yes he could start for some NBA teams .. According to Jrue Holiday, the Cs run a drill in practice where the whole point is to stop Pritchard from scoring....because as Jrue put it "Payton is cold"
I was saying he’s Steph Curry Jr ever since he JOINED the Celtics. It would piss me off that they wouldn’t give him minutes. Dude is finally getting the opportunities he deserves
Payton is a powerful, Valuable member of the Celtics Championship team! It' YOU guys who don't appreciate him, We, the FANS appreciate the hell out him!!
Queta has a pretty limited skill set on offense, but he's a true big who actually plays big. You can always tell when he's in there that he's a big physical presence. While Porzingis is still out, it's really important that the Celts have a guy like Queta who can step right in and handle the middle of the floor with his strength and length.
@Ironfangzu definitely. I also feel he hasn't been utilized by the team to his full potential. I see multiple plays each game where he's open on the roll or has a clear lane to the hoop but doesn't get the pass, which is kinda dumb cause how can you miss him?
Shoulda showed the clip of Peyton’s 60 footer he made on opening night this year that didn’t count cuz it was a split second after the buzzer. If that counted, he would’ve made 3 half court shots over the span of like 5 games (2 in the finals, then that one opening night).
He looks kinda baby faced and he's not bulging with muscles. But that dude is here to drive a dagger in your heart with those 3's. This is a guy who's not gonna choke, because his mentality is indeed that of a stone cold killa.
The game looks like it’s slowed down for him this year. I remember how he used to get bumped off his drives and would focus on protecting the basketball rather than countering and keeping the offense moving a couple years ago. But he’s always been a dog and a hard worker who improves every year. I remember really wishing we had more minutes for PP back when we had Brogdon, White and Smart jostling for minutes.
@@tomtalley2192 eh idk… jj can do what PP is doing rn. He may have relied on spot ups but dude was getting 20 a game in Philly he can get his own buckets
Reddick is a good shot maker. But he can't be a floor general like PP. Plus PP is very creative and can get his own shots. He doesn't just run to an open spot and wait there. He often runs the offense when he's in there even at crunch time.
The crowd doesn't just erupt when he hits one of those big shots. There's an audible buzz in the stands in anticipation whenever he gets the ball in these situations. He is not only a terrific player, but he's downright fun to watch if you're a Cs fan. If you're rooting for the other team, not so much... He's the most fun-to-watch player since IT.
Great dude. Just doing his thing around town on the off days and you catch him shooting hoops at a small local park with a lone 10 yr old. No crowds or clout chasing. Just balling with a kid who will remember this day the rest of his life.
Except given the chance, other teams don't. Even look at the Cav's game, they targeted Queta and him, and realized they couldn't get past him so pushed hard on Queta.
he can only be targeted by taller players and even then unlike garland and other small guards he's actually big enough to hold his own in the post he USED to be a liability not anymore.
@@GurtonBuster07 Yeah, Payton may be "only" 6' 1", but he's built like a brick. He's very strong. Not Jrue Holiday strong (which is insane). But way stronger than most small 'quick guards'. Height also mainly matters when you get closer to the rim. It's much less of a factor out on the perimeter and for picking up the ball advance, which is where Payton plays most of his defense. Out there, foot speed and smarts on when to go over/under screens and switch or not is the most important thing.
His shot has been lights out this year, but I think people also sleep on his handle. His size makes it so he'll never be an elite finisher at the rim or anything, but he's able to push the pace hard on fast breaks, and when he does drive he forces help and has been making the right pass consistently off of it. His defense has also significantly improved, he used to be a bit of a liability out there, and can still draw some size mismatches, but he hangs in there better than ever.
As a Patriots fan who has watched the Pats management fumble the ball at every turn, I've been super appreciative that Danny and Brad has put us in the position we are in. They clearly know what they are doing, and they are doing it better than the management of other teams. I wish Brad could go run the Patriots for a few years. He surely wouldn't inherit a team that has a horrific, league worst offensive line, and 2 years later, we still have a league worst offensive line.
He's going to go down as one of the best 3-point shooters in history. He's super young still, takes a ton of 3's and has insane efficiency. He definitely crafts his game after Steph and Iverson.
I notice you don't touch on defense, I am a Cs fan since the Bill russell days and I love Pritchard's game but as far as being a starter on any other team goes, I disagree. If you watched the Cleveland game, whoever Pritcherd was on, they would screen, get the switch, and just back him in and shoot over him. While he is a tenacious defender, he is still susceptible to his play against the post up. My opinion is that he is lucky to be on the perfect team for his abilities. If and when Porzingis gets healthy we will be seeing less of Pritchard, and that is a shame.
1:37 Dude, I live in Boston.... NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY here with half a brain is forgetting about Pritchard. You go into Boston bars on game nights, and people are CONSTANTLY talking about him. Truthfully, I can't speak for everyone, but he definitely is known and LOVED by tons of people here. We know what he adds to the team.
If Krypto P played 30 minutes a night, he would average 25 a game. The guy is buckets but is so underrated because he’s behind so many talented guards. Tough as nails and ain’t scared to play defense and take on charges. Love watching him play.
What's funny is people that don't know his game don't realize he's the real deal. They think that last year in the Finals that his half court shots were just some miracle when in reality he really is that dude.
The Celtics shouldn't get credit for the development of Payton Pritchard. He's a gymrat. I am an Oregon fan and I have watched him develop at every step. This is ALL Payton Pritchard.
Yup, very true. If anything, the Celtics didn’t give him the minutes he deserved early on. I said from day 1 he was an amazing player and needed minutes. The casuals all hated because he’s “small” Anyone that’s only JUST NOW realizing pritchard is good is stupid
If you are playing defense against the Celtics, Tatum needs to be double teamed. Brown needs to be double teamed. Both of these guys can beat single coverage off the dribble and end up with an easy layup or a dunk. Derek White is almost impossible to guard with one guy. He moves without the ball constantly, and if you lose sight of him for a second, he'll torch you. Holiday is only a slightly less dangerous threat by comparison. But he can hit the sideline corner 3 with the best of them, and he has a very physical low post game where he can overpower most guards. You have to do what you can to guard these guys, and so Pritchard is left semi-unguarded because you only have so many players on the floor. But, he's the Celtic's best 3 point shooter. What do you do on D?
I've played with people like PP before. You think he's no problem, get cooked for 3 quarters, still think you got this, lose the game. They're SO annoying to play against😂
He’d start on any other team in the NBA? Let’s not go crazy here. He’s a nice little player but when the defense picks up in the playoffs he can barely get a shot off.
Dude’s in the first year of a four year $30 million contract. Way underpaid. When they’re forced to break the team up, he’ll likely still be wearing Celtic green.
