the Koni raid 90's are the same shock that they put on the steer of factory Australian kenworth trucks. I guess if it can cope with the stresses of a truck, it should easily cope with a 4wd. The valving is obviously different between the truck variety and the 4wd type.
Thanks @moontours9071 . Do you mind me asking what are on the front? Are they the heavy track or 88 series HT raid? Also what rating parabolics do you have in the hilux? I'm assuming you have the 90 series raids shocks in the rear? And travel with these are plenty with the parabolics? Sorry lots of questions. It's hard to find any info with these shocks and leafs.
@@Angler233 88's in front, 90's in the rear. 500KG parabolic springs, I believe they now have a 700kg option, which is what I would go for carrying the weight I do. Drawers, canopy, fuel tank, water tank, second spare, towing etc.
Great review being told I have to rebuild my adjustable ICON shocks yearly is not sitting well with me. I have been looking at a change up. I have been looking at Koni 83 series, OME, Ironman foamcell pro and Dobinson. I had never heard of Koni till recently thanks for the review.
Assume you are looking at OME sport in that list? KONI are another level on the products you have listed but they also cost a bit more. The ride quality though day to day and the performance in the tough stuff though is absolutely worth it and markedly better. You won't be disappointed with KONI's that's for sure. For what it is worth, if you are going for a mid range shock from the list above, get the OME sport, they will be the best valved and offer the best ride for the price. Good luck.
Hey mate great info. Just picked our new 2021 troopy in Dec and going to run the koni raid 90's as well. What complete package would you run eg, leaf pack and spring brands. Going to have about 600kg in the back and she's going to be set up as a tourer but capable when needed. Thanks.
Gday mate. Really appreciate the vid and the education you’re giving. Is the Koni shock / terrain tamer parabolic combo still in your opinion the way to go? My constant load in the rear will be 500 kgs but prob 800 kgs when I’m loaded up for a trip with boat on canopy , trailer etc so I’m thinking the 700 kg parabolic? What model Koni shock ya reckon? Cheers mate and well done
Not sure exactly but substantially more than the 4 leaf. With your weight I’d personally go the 5 leaf. In the long term and when fully loaded it’ll be the way to go. Ride is still good with 500kg on.
got ironman foamcell pro got no complain in trail right now but would like to upgrade to a dobinson mrr. Would you recommend switching to KONI raid on my hilux or should I go with dobinson mrr? Actually my first choice was KONI RAID, but a friend of mine opted me with Ironman foamcell pro..
Buy once, cry once. Well worth the money!
fantastic honest review.... this has helped me make my mind up

Hi there, fantastic video. Are the shocks specifically the raids?
Yeah that’s correct. They’ve both done a lot more since then and still going strong.
Actually the KONI’s on the Hilux are not RAIDS. Not on the front anyway.

I’d go the 5 leaf parabolic and RAID 90 KONI’s. Great combo.
Ok cheers what’s the rating on the 5 leaf?

Koni is number 1.
Oil filled is best.
Which model of Koni are you running? 82,88,90?
What springs do you use with the Koni’s? I have a 200 series.
