Thanks John. OME are great, but don't think they're built to last 100000km's like Koni Raid 90's.
I am surprised. I always though gas schocks was better, and did not known Koni did not use gas tech....

I put a set on my diesel disco along with new springs .The first main thing i noticed was no more body roll the vehicle is more stable cornering the next main thing i noticed was when four wheel driving through the very rough stuff no impacts are transmitted into the vehicle the shocks seem to absorb it all .In my opinion they are worth every cent you pay for them , a few of my friends are going remote res shock's but i dont want to have to reseal them every 80,000 ks also they seem to expensive for what your getting , to each his own i guess ...

I will be purchasing these same shocks real soon for my Land Cruiser. Crossing my fingers it will also perform well.

The Koni's need to be removed from the vehicle to adjust the rebound, so not an easy thing to do.
did 60k miles around Africa on these on a Landy 130 - no issues. A fellow traveler at same time went through 3 sets OME when we last met and he still had from Malawi to Egypt to go so ?? -- logic being OME were guaranteed so selected - but he waited 2 wks each time for replacements which costs a lot !! plus wasted time if you are on a schedule

Nice one mate! I have been looking at these shocks for the last 2 years for my FJ Cruiser - how do you adjust the shocks when mounted or you need to take them off?
They must be removed from the vehicle to adjust the rebound. It's something you can do after the first few months to see how the stock setting feels for your vehicle.

Years ago I used to sell Koni in 4WD and Rally shop I worked in, and I still use them. I have the KONI RaidS in my 2009 Ford Ranger.
With regard to adjustment there are about 5 half turns of adjustment, that is half a turn is about one level of adjustment. With heavy duty springs or regular heavy loads I would suggest adjusting them by one to two half turns (up to one full turn) off soft.
This should be more than adequate. If you make them too hard the rebound will limit the spring doing its job by making it pack down and reducing the suspension travel. In general terms what you are aiming to do is to allow the spring to compress, then rebound once, then settle back to its neutral position. Most of the time you need to take them off the vehicle to make the adjustment.
One thing to watch - the piston has a kind of fork assembly on the bottom of it inside the shocker. Treat it gently and you will feel it lock into the adjustable foot valve when you fully compress the shocker. NEVER and DO NOT force it. It will adjust very smoothly and you need to “feel” for a stop at each end of the adjustment. If you force it you run the risk of unscrewing the foot valve and if you do it will be back to the supplier for repair. Cheers

You'll surely love them Matt.. think of them as a lifetime investment, not a disposable part. Only issues to date were the bushes, but the shock itself appears indestructible.
@@RoamingTheOutback They do sound smashing ... Currently on the old metal sleeved OME's which I've not had cause to complain about but are showing their age. The 90 has had a set of DeCarbons which are excellent for road work and behave great off road but they're thin on the ground these days.
cheeper than bilstein ... with 3 or 4 settings positions... the harder is like bilstein they say on notice ... i found 4 toyota hilux 150e front 155e rear :) not much more oem... very good stuff
I am putting those exact ones on my 2008 Mercedes G500. What setting would you put them on?? (I realize they are adjustable, but kind of a pain)
My truck does not normally carry cargo in it and it is typically just my driving in the city...I want it as comfortable as possible.
A few times a year I go off-roading and load it with gear.
It's best to put them on stock and see how the ride feels first. The factory set them for each make. Remove and adjust later if they're too soft with load.

land rover HD springs. various aftermarket companies make them to the LR spec.
All oil shocks are the best.

@@rudedogii We got ours from Summit Racing. It took 3 months, and was drop shipped from Koni USA in Kentucky.
@@James86004 I contacted Koni NA and they said 6 to 8 weeks. I found them on Ebay in Germany and got them in a week and a half!
@@rudedogii that is great! I tried to order them from Paddock Spares in the UK but then said they could not ship shocks air freight because they are pressurized. Even though these Konis are not pressurized.
How to know tge shock is long travel ?
It was in the specifications.

@@RoamingTheOutback Managed to buy Koni Heavy Track for my W461 G Wagen about four years ago. FINALLY got round to trying to fit today, but found diameter too big at the rear at the chassis mounting and seem too large also at the front from looking. Not sure if that issue affects Defenders; I need to be more careful second time in trusting the supplier to get selection correct and find an application for the expensive Heavy Tracks as no chance of exchange.
