I am an Office Ladies listener and it has really changed my perspective of The Office in a good way! Now when I watch an episode, I compare each scene to what Jenna and Angela have said about it
Listening to them legitimately helped me leave a toxic 7 year relationship, I love hearing them encourage people to just go for what you want in life. 10/10 would happy cry to the office ladies podcast in public again
I’d be really interested in seeing an “evolution of” video of the podcast Call Her Daddy. I’m not a listener anymore but I think it’d be interesting to see you talk about the change of direction of the podcast and the different routes the two hosts took
It’s actually so cute to think that someone one day said “hehe what if we combined the words and started saying podcasts 🤪” and the rest of the world was like “you got it, dude!”
The biggest cons for any Celeb/Influencer starting a podcast is It: 1. Could reveal your boring or are only interesting with writing from a writer. 2. Could reveal you are a jerk, some people like jerky comedy, others don't, and could divide the audience. Overall people could like you a celeb more as a figure they attach their idea of you onto, as opposed to a real person. It's sad but once that image and largely non-descript branding is broken, some people cant come back from that.
Celebrities using any form of social media produces this already. Twitter for example, many celebrities have had their fans turn on them for political or personal views, posts etc.
I’d love a Glee video, the show is so problematic but at the time it was such a safe place for many communities and people. Would be interesting to see :)
I think nostalgia/comfort also played into the uptick of celebrity podcasts during the pandemic. Going through a popular show, episode by episode, with an actor you're familiar with is a very comforting concept in times of intense anxiety and turmoil.
@@BethThereseReacts Oh gosh, I don't remember everything either. But overall I just meant that they have a lot of representation, like sure we'll have POC, LGBTQ, disabled characters etc. but they would sideline them or have them be stereotypes. Like some things off the top of my head, Mike and Tina got like no screen time or full personalities and really just "the Asian kids", other characters were really biphobic towards Brittany, they didn't cast an actual wheelchair user to play Artie, etc. Or they would include socially relevant and important topics but not really treat them with the full seriousness they deserved in my opinion, like teenage pregnancy, suicide, eating disorders... so they were both "woke" in that they showed experiences that other shows wouldn't, but problematic in that they wouldn't necessarily do them well

They are doing a watch through but it's more discussion based then formatted like Office Ladies (which I also love). Not a celebrity podcast but a podcast with celebrities that’s amazing is “Modern Love” where celebrities read stories submitted to the NewYork Times about love (losing love, refinding love, unconventional love)
I loved the Modern Love podcast! But they totally rebranded it 😒 It switched from WBUR Boston being the host station to in-house at the NYT and it’s gone downhill. The new hosts are terrible and it lacks the flow that the old set up did. They also use voice actors instead of celebrities (which I’m happier about in theory but now it sounds too animated). They also abruptly stopped new episodes with no warning.

I highly suggest the OG celebrity podcast - WTF with Marc Maron. He’s been doing his podcast since 2009. He had Obama on the pod. He’s a comedian and was on the show GLOW. He has 1300 episodes, so he has likely interviewed someone you like at least once.
Thank you for posting today, desperately needed a distraction. Dealing with a lot of unexpected passings in my family all happening at once, I needed to check out for a bit. I greatly appreciate it. Loved your perspective! I always enjoy your videos so much! Stay healthy and love to everyone!
I would LOVE to see a video on Glee. I'm probably in the minority here but I've never actually watched the show but now I wanna know what was problematic with the show. I think it would make a great video!
Is the candle burning the lamp? There is like a black spot forming right where the candle is. Could be nothing though… Anyway im so excited for this video. Thank you girl for making my evening ❤️
I just hope there isn’t an over saturation. I feel like when that happens…people get over it all quickly and then it dies off. It feels like literally everyone has a podcast at the moment.
I do think it’s a double edged sword tho. Thinking of some of the controversy after getting to know celebs more and people finding out they don’t like them. For instance Ellen Pompeo on her podcast, Jada Pinkett on Red Table talk, or Kristen and Dax on their talks together… sometimes when you pull back the mystery of celebs, fans don’t like what they see.
The fact that you used the Showmance as an example is so close to my heart, I loved it. If you will do the video about Glee being problematic, please try to be fair. I feel like now all the positives from the show are being disregarded (and there was a lot, even to me personally, it really help to go through the teen years and coming to terms with my sexuality). Everyone now just pays 2 seconds to acknowledge the positive and then go on 40 min rants about the negative.
Great video! The first celebrity podcast that comes to mind for me is Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend. I think Conan's podcast is a great way to for him to show off his interviewing and comedy skills, as well as have more real conversations with his guests. Also, I think a podcast is a great way for Conan to cultivate a younger audience now that his talk show is over.
I had no idea Conan had a podcast! I used to watch his late night show in the 90's and really loved him and thought he was so funny and I always had a little crush on him! LOL! I'll have to check out his podcast! What platform is it available on?
The David Tennant podcast where he had his friends and acquaintances in the entertainment industry was actually pretty good. I would've never known George Takei was a survivor of the Japanese concentration camps during WWII.
Girl, I just found you recently and have been absolutely addicted to your content. ALL of it. You are like totally my spirit animal I swear lol. Absolutely love how real, honest, and fair you are no matter if its makeup or youtube scandals. I stan Smokey Glow!!!!
I agree that it's great to have lots of perspectives, but sometimes I get overwhelmed with all the podcasts! I only listen to Office Ladies, it's great. Also, PLEASE give me Glee tea.
I would also like to add that celebrities NEED this for emotional health rather than financial… Unlike most UA-camrs, Leonardo DiCaprio can’t go to the local Sephora or a Supermarket and meet people that way, unless he wants to get mobbed. I couldn’t imagine not being able to go outside any time I want, I would think a podcast is great way to socialize without being out…🤷♀️ I’m not a Celebrity lol but am just trying to see their point of view…
What I like about podcasts is you can listen to them vs watch so I can still do stuff around the house while “watching” them. Btw, I really enjoy your podcasts 😁
I am a massive fan of the office and just like the office, office ladies has become a major comfort and entertaining podcast just like the show is to me. I love it so much and I love all the extra trivia of how they filmed parts of the show.
to the point of the "reviving fame" section, the mid-2010s tv show rewatch podcasts, hosted by previous actors seem to be an expanding sub-genre. I've recently heard ads for one about new girl with like half the cast, and parks and rec hosted randomly by rob lowe
I have been a podcast listener for quite a while. Listening to podcasts kept me relatively sane through a particular hard time (pre-COVID). With this VERY long quarantine podcasts have kept my mind amused and informed. As for celebrities doing their own podcasts, I enjoy this trend. I recognize that many probably do it to keep their "brand" relevant, but as was mentioned in this video being celebrities many are fun to listen to. Smartless is one of my favorites. I love the interplay between the 3 hosts even more than the interview portion.
He's the only interviewer who I can stand to watch!, he's incredibly talented at delivering interesting content but in a comfortable space, I've seen many celebrities start to open up and let down the "late-night-talk-show" personas.
I absolutely love listening to you talk about things like this, things you are interested in. You are just so engaging and come across as so intelligent and personable.
I feel like I'm one of the only people who don't listen to podcasts...? I listen to maybe 3 different ones every now and then, but I just can't focus on what they're saying! I listen for 2 minutes and next thing I know, It's been 20 minutes and I haven't heard a word. I'm genuinely impressed by people who listen to so many and keep up with them.
Oddly, I prefer celebrity podcasts vs influencer ones. The main reason ironically, is I find them to be less “polished”. The few influencer ones I’ve listened to I always feel like their holding back or picking and choosing what to say or on the other end come off extremely clout chasing/obnoxious. Plus I rarely find their guest interesting. But with the celebrities I noticed they just talk and don’t come off as being afraid of their audience. Not sure if any of this makes sense lol. The only influencer podcast I listen to religious is Hannah’s. I’ll sometimes listen to H3H3 and Manny/Laura’s podcast but even that’s a one off.
I find that a lot of influencers are much better in front of a camera than they are behind a mic. I've seen a few where I LOVE their videos but their podcasts dragged and were a bit boring. I also find that I prefer a podcast with two host like Fool Coverage and The Double Cleanse. Those are the only two influencer podcasts I've been able to get in to.
If you like true crime/conspiracy type stuff you might like mile higher. It feels raw to me at least and I find it very interesting, though sometimes it is a bit slow. It’s an easy listening type thing I listen when I need something interesting but not all consuming of my attention. The guys voice is made for podcasting too I love it
Did yall know Levar Burton has a podcast ???? It's like reading rainbow but for adults his voice is so calming I sometimes turn him on when I can't sleep he just reads short stories
Love all of Hannah's breakdowns and deep dives, although this episode all I could focus on was the candle slightly singeing the bottom of the lampshade loool, fire hazard Hannah!!!
I've really gotten more into listening to podcasts. I would argue that the same celebrity to podcaster pipeline also extended to athletes, both current and former. Thank you for all of your great content! You're always covering interesting topics!
I actually really enjoy armchair expert bc it’s a legit interview podcast and not a show capitalizing on the popularity of something the hosts were involved with.
I imagine it’s also interesting as 2/3 of the hosts can’t plan ahead for the interview in the same way they would if they knew who was coming! So it’s a surprise on multiple levels :)
Anyone else used listen to Anna Faris’ podcast? That one came before Dax’s and was one of the first celebrity podcasts I’ve seen. Miss the old version of the show
Oh PLEASE do a video about glee! I didn't watch it since it was during my party days, so I missed it. From the outskirts it just seemed a little young and pretty wholesome but clearly I've been wrong. I'd love to hear all the tea. 🙏🏻
When I can vibe with a podcast usually can't wait to listen to it. I love Manny's and Laura's podcast it is so lighthearted. I really love your podcast with Charles. A husband or wife together or even two partner's together. For me can really see how Charles immune system issues play a part in your lives to make different decisions. This is true for myself and my husband had to make different decisions Just hearing both of you talk about politics or any topic completely vibe with me.
I love that more celebrities are doing podcasts, i love podcasts and i say the more the merrier 💗Great Video as always Hannah ! You always talk about topics that are so interesting on here and on your podcast Love you !
Hey Hannah! I’m obsessed with your content and I really enjoyed glowmas! I was wondering if you’d be interested in doing a video about the Viner to UA-camr pipeline (as I know you did one about youtubers becoming podcasters). I’ve started coming across a lot of youtubers like Lauren giraldo, Zane and Heath, etc. who I never knew were originally vine content creators. I would love to hear your take on it in a video😊
Loved this video as always!! This is slightly unrelated but I enjoy hot ones for similar ‘pros’ you discussed in this video eg actually getting to hear celebrities speak in a personal way and hearing really interesting stories that they ordinally wouldn’t bring up!
Armchair expert is literally the reason I got into podcasts. I'm OBSESSED with The Good Place, and he interviewed the cast prior to season 3 airing. I then binged every episode lol I don't listen to it as much anymore, but just because my podcast likes have changed. The Good Place also has a podcast recapping their episodes hosted by Marc Evan Jackson (he plays Sean) and it's so fun listening to the writers and set designers and PAs talk about the show along with cast
I just thought of a random pro for celebrities who want to do a podcast... you did mention creative control, but I am thinking of dream projects or pet projects that they've wanted to so and can now accomplish on their own. Great video essay as always!
Some of these (not all) are “Irrelevant Celebrity to Podcaster Pipeline.” Jenna Ushkowitz and Kevin McHale do nothing worth talking about anymore and have to relive the glory days.
I’m just a girl, sitting here, begging you to make a video about the problematic Glee TV program. Pleaseeeee. I love that show but lawd it’s got some issues. 🤣😂
Just thinking through the point you made about influencers being open about their lives VS celebrities being private about their lives; I think that just speaks to the fact that traditional celebrities become famous for a certain reason - whether it be their talent as an actor or music or whatever. Influencers don’t have that talent/reason so their whole appeal is that we HAVE to get to know them as people to understand why we should care about them in the first place.
Another great video Hannah! You better move your candle though because I can see it's burning your lamp shade! It was giving me so much anxiety! LOL! I would LOVE if you did a video on Glee! I used to watch it the first few seasons and over time I just kind of lost interest. I also find it interesting that people think there is a "Glee curse" as there is 3 or 4 cast members that are dead now and they all had tragic deaths! Love you girl!
i think you should cover the sienna mae and jack wright case. although it is a sensitive and controversial topic, i think that it will bring light to jack’s struggles and validate those who may be dealing with the same issues
The Parks and Recollection Podcast with Rob Lowe and Andrew Yang (writer on P&R) is new and so so good! Pretty short episodes but along the same vein as office ladies it’s super interesting and informative if you’re a fan of the show
Is that candle placement causing smoke damage to your table lampshade? Might just be the camera, but it kinda looks like the bottom edge is blackening? I have anxiety about things being too close to candles lol xx
Not quite the same thing, since he is already an interviewer, but Conan O'Brien's podcast is really great. Talks to lots of comedians, but also other celebrities as well, in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Conan's hyper energy is a bit toned down on the podcast while still being funny.
Personally, as someone who has never watched Glee but knows how fucked it is, I would greatly enjoy Hannah talking about how fucked up Glee is.
I would too!

Nicole Byers also has a podcast under that same company as Conan. She’s awesome too.
What a way to cozy up on a very cold day! I am so excited for this video!
Hannah you are giving me major anxiety... MOVE that candle away from the lampshade please!!
Yes!! The flame looks so big and it looks like it’s already started melting the bottom of the lampshade… 😬
All I could think about!!
Hey Hannah! Thanks for the video, just be careful with the candle in the background, it seems to be burning the lamp!
My favourite podcast for celebrities will always be the Zach Sang Show, Zach is such a wonder host that asks good deep questions without sounding nosy
I’m really hoping he branches out on his own! I need his interviews
He's the only interviewer who I can stand to watch!, he's incredibly talented at delivering interesting content but in a comfortable space, I've seen many celebrities start to open up and let down the "late-night-talk-show" personas.
i was really bummed when i found out his show was cancelled :(
@@crybabyyy9398 same!! I checked on Twitter a day ago he said more interviews coming soon! I’m excited
@@heyalexisleigh ohhh that's awesome!
I absolutely love listening to you talk about things like this, things you are interested in. You are just so engaging and come across as so intelligent and personable.
I’ve watched almost all your videos and rewatch them when I wait for you to post , comfort UA-camr for sureeee
When Smokey uploads the day is immediately better!! 💕💕💕
Having a really hard day 😢 thank you so much for uploading you always make me feel better🤍✨🧿
I've never ever listened to one (even Hannah's, oops)
The guys voice is made for podcasting too I love it
Yay! I’ve been watching your old videos and podcast episodes all week, so happy to see new content! ♥️
Did yall know Levar Burton has a podcast ???? It's like reading rainbow but for adults his voice is so calming I sometimes turn him on when I can't sleep he just reads short stories
Well I do NOW. I didn't know this, thanks for sharing! 💕
This is great to know! I tend to pick his sleep stories on Calm but there’s not that many from him.
So it’s a surprise on multiple levels :)
i love when my queen uploads right when i’m about cook or clean 🤩
Not me rewinding back to the start because I was distracted during the intro and I wanted to say the hi friend monologue with you 🤣🤣
also hey sis 😌 perfect timing for a vid during my study break!
Loved this, brilliant as always. Would ADORE a Glee vid xxx
You always talk about topics that are so interesting on here and on your podcast Love you !
i was just looking for something to watch during this blizzard ! 🙌 stay warm hannah!
I do put your vids on to go to bed and then I fall asleep and have to watch all Over again😂 you’re a comfort content creator for me
I know you were really nervous to post things like this before but I've been obsessed with your content and you're doing great
I LOVE your intro! & I love your candle of the day as I'm always looking for new candle ideas! Stay warm and safe
Me tooooo
Also Danny Gonzalez , Drew Godden, Cody Ko
I’m so glad you mentioned Showmance! I used to listen to it every week.
If anyone wants an in depth video about how insane glee was, watch Here’s What You Missed on Glee by Mic the Snare
I love your channel so much! You give us nothing but the truth and I love it. Thank you!!
Loved this video as always!!
This is slightly unrelated but I enjoy hot ones for similar ‘pros’ you discussed in this video eg actually getting to hear celebrities speak in a personal way and hearing really interesting stories that they ordinally wouldn’t bring up!
yessss!!! I’ve been binge watching all of your content recently for comfort
also - that colour is amazing on you!
loved kenya’s video on people jumping on the podcast train so i’m interested to see your ideas!!
Hannah saying anecdote is the cutest thing 💕🌻
I could watch you videos all day! You're my favorite on YT! Also I NEED to know where that sweater is coming from 🥰!!
Yeah I’m gonna need that video on Glee ASAP thanks
Armchair expert is literally the reason I got into podcasts. I'm OBSESSED with The Good Place, and he interviewed the cast prior to season 3 airing. I then binged every episode lol I don't listen to it as much anymore, but just because my podcast likes have changed. The Good Place also has a podcast recapping their episodes hosted by Marc Evan Jackson (he plays Sean) and it's so fun listening to the writers and set designers and PAs talk about the show along with cast
Yes, do a video about Glee!
Did you really just say Tony Award winning producer Jenna Ushkowitz reached her peak during Glee? 💀
@@hellformichelle peak is a strong word because glee was awful. But they will forever be known for those roles.
I’m just a girl, sitting here, begging you to make a video about the problematic Glee TV program. Pleaseeeee. I love that show but lawd it’s got some issues. 🤣😂
I wasn’t even a Glee watcher and I would I def be interested
Just thinking through the point you made about influencers being open about their lives VS celebrities being private about their lives; I think that just speaks to the fact that traditional celebrities become famous for a certain reason - whether it be their talent as an actor or music or whatever. Influencers don’t have that talent/reason so their whole appeal is that we HAVE to get to know them as people to understand why we should care about them in the first place.
Hannah this sweater looks so good on you! I know you usually like the athleisure vibe but knits look so cute on u
I think Anna Faris was the first celebrity podcast I ever heard of. And now, it’s essentially her full time job.
your intro and background look so good, love the new vibe!
i love that hanna always gives grandma vibes in the best way possible
Another con of celebrities doing podcasts is we find out that they dont bathe nearly enough lol
“Niche celebrity” is such a nice way to say B-list! Lol
Or D-list lol
Another great video Hannah! You better move your candle though because I can see it's burning your lamp shade! It was giving me so much anxiety! LOL! I would LOVE if you did a video on Glee! I used to watch it the first few seasons and over time I just kind of lost interest. I also find it interesting that people think there is a "Glee curse" as there is 3 or 4 cast members that are dead now and they all had tragic deaths! Love you girl!
Everytime you upload I’m feel soooo relieved!!!!
Super off topic, but, did the lampshade get burnt with the smoke from the candle? Or has it been like that for a while?
I think it's slowly burning 😳
Also, if anyone likes New Girl, Zooey Deschanel, Hannah Simone and Lamorne Morris started a re-watch podcast called Welcome to our Show!
Ahh I’m so excited for this one
Yesss, do it ! I would love to hear you talk about glee 😀
i think you should cover the sienna mae and jack wright case. although it is a sensitive and controversial topic, i think that it will bring light to jack’s struggles and validate those who may be dealing with the same issues
I listen to the Friendship Onion because I'm a huge LOTR nerd and the Dominic and Billy have incredible chemistry.
