Artify Alcohol Brush Marker Review (108 Assorted & 24 Skin Tone sets)

  • Today we are looking at the Artify dual-ended alcohol brush markers. I will be reviewing the following sets (affiliate links used)
    108 Brush Marker set of Assorted colors: amzn.to/39KOsL0
    24 Skin tone set: amzn.to/3qA6iqN
    Product details:
    The markers have a matte white rounded triangular barrel with a plastic numbered color chip on each cap. They have a brush tip on one end and a chisel tip on the other. No color name on the barrel and the caps do not stack on the other end. These use the same marker body as the Arrtx Alp, Old style Bianyo markers and Altenew Markers, and probably others. The color-coding system match Bianyo, Altenew, and Cali art markers. They range in price from .55 and .79 per marker depending on the size pack. They come in a nice, sturdy carrying and storage case with dividers to make it easy to separate the color in blending families.
    Pros:
    Low Price
    Nice case
    Blends and layers well
    Nice assortment of colors
    Includes swatch card
    Color chips are pretty accurate
    The barrel and caps feels high quality (thick, matte plastic) and is comfortable to hold.
    Cons:
    Inconsistent placement of chisel tip (you will want to pull some out and reseat them)
    Fiber brush nib (not foam rubber Japanise tip like Copic)
    There are some duplications between sets but also unique colors in each set meaning you would need to buy all sets to get all of the colors but you will have doubles this way of some colors. There were 3 duplications between the skin tone and 108 sets.
    Bottom line: These are great for the price. I would compare the quality of the nibs with Ohuhu. On their listing, they say their nibs are higher quality and not reversible like Ohuhu but when I pulled the nib out of the clear marker it looked to be identical. I had hoped since they made this claim, that the markers would have the rubber tip but that is not the case. You could however replace them with the Altenew nibs that are better quality if they run out: shrsl.com/2qlpk *You can refill with Altenew alcohol inks as well if they carry the color. Altenews range is smaller so not every color will be available but it's nice to know that's an option. Overall I think they are worth it for the price and the carry case is very nice. I love it when a company sells a product in useful and reusable packaging.

    Thank you for your marker reviews. I finally made a decision and bought both 108 and 23 skin colour markers by Artify. I received the skin colours today and really like them. They are added to some Copic, Spectrum Noir and Touch 5 markers. I will put Arrtx on my future wish list.

    Lindsay, THANK YOU for this video! This is seriously THE most helpful thing for me that you've ever posted--and that's saying something, haha! I love my old-style Bianyo brush markers and I'm so excited to know that there's a refill option out there for at least some of them. It'd be such a waste to throw them away when they run out! I would have never figured this out on my own, so again thank you so much! I hope the Altenew marker line expands so there's lots of refill options. If only they had a chisel tip, I'd pick some up. It looks like Altenew has done a great job picking really beautiful colors for their line. I just can't give up my chisel tip!

    Oh, I love that you can exchange the brush and chisel nibs! I recently had to do brush nib surgery with a blick brush nib for my discontinued neopiko deleter marker. The neopiko brush nib weirdly deflated. I don’t know if it’s the same as the fraying that you were talking about. Let me tell you, slicing away at that expensive brush nib with a utility knife was terrifying.

    • @thefrugalcrafter
      @thefrugalcrafter  3 роки тому +1

      Too similar to call. Ohuhu has a better color range and since they are round you dont have to deal with the chisel nib sitting weird like you do with artify triangle barrel. That said artify is cheaper and comes with a better case and more logical swatch and color number system. The nibs and ink seem comparable tho either way.

    I was starting to collect sketch copics, however my circumstances have changed and can’t afford to get them anymore (here in Aus sketch are around A$10 each). Do you still think ohuho are the best way to go, or would you recommend these as a close second? I’d like to have at least 80 set..... or should I go with alternew ( but shipping on them to Australia is really high). There are now so many to choose from it’s getting difficult to make a decision ❤️🇦🇺

    • @thefrugalcrafter
      @thefrugalcrafter  3 роки тому +1

      It's hard to say as I am not sure what is available in Australia or what you have already. The bullet and chisel markers will be the most affordable and most of those nibs are the same and durible but if you want a brush nib that won't be what you want. The ohuhu brush markers are a good bet, the nibs are not as good as copic but they are reversible if they fray. Look at what you have and see what you need and go from there. Also check reviews for other markers easy to get in Australia in case there are better options.

    Hi again Lindsay. I'm still trying to figure out which budget marker set to purchase. Have you compared the Ohuhu, Arrtx and Artify? My biggest concern is the feel of the markers, especially the nibs. I'd rather have a bullet and brush nib, don't really need a chisel nib. If I decide on the Arrtx is it possible to replace the chisel tip with an AlteNew brush tip? The more I explore the more confused I get! Thanks for your help. You do the best review videos.

    • @thefrugalcrafter

      Very similar to the ohuhu brush markers in quality. Bianyo has (or at least the version I have from 2 years ago) a better brush nib more like copic. I like the artify case better but the ohuhu color pack selection better as you can get the 120 set and have all the colors in smaller sets except for the pastels (and maybe skin tones? Not sure as they redid those recently and I don't have the updated version) I'd rather buy a large set to get all the colors rather than buying them all to get the few unique colors each set has and doubles.
