The Chase Bay plug though.....Now the prices will double. Damn it man.
4:44 "This Should be like 500 hp"
puse "is it?" almost about to smile
So many mentions of length and diameter, not a single scumbag joke. I'm not even mad, I'm kind of impressed.
Hahaha See my comment... :/
Ive measured for a lot of custom driveshafts and I still picked up a few good tips. Thanks for the info guys.
That car is pretty sick!! I bet he finishes it before Jon finishes his Bel Air
Probably cause Jon still would have to put a livery or something like he wants to do but can't wait for the bel air thoe💪🤘👌
Jon does a lot more imo at Hoonigans compared to Vin who edits videos and does shows along with like 20 other people
For measuring bolt pattern diameter like at 10:05, I find it easier to measure the holes from outer edge to outer edge followed by inner edge to inner edge and then average those numbers. Lets you use the calipers the way they're designed without doing it by eye.
You're better off measuring the bolt hole diameter and zeroing the caliper, then measuring outer bolt hole edge to outer bolt hole edge. This means no math required!
Or you just measure from outer edge on one side to inner edge on other side which gives you the centre to centre........
My way does give an exact centre to centre as it automatically subtracts half a hole on both sides from the total outside to outside measurement
More critical than overall wieght on a driveshaft is the rotational moment of inertia of the circle. This will make the biggest impact on throttle response.
Thank you! I'm about to get a driveshaft made up for my V35 sedan manual conversion. So close to being done. Would love to 1jz swap it next 😎
You should ask AdamLZ what diff he has and what he thinks after doing the CD swap
Vinny should add Worst at Focusing a Camera to his resume
I wanted to say something funny but I'm all out of yokes
theres multiple gear ratios for the rear so you can change how it accels. local has a vvti 1jz with a 4.1 or 4.3 and its great for our track (hes in 3/4, most others are 2/3 gears). you have to see what it feels like yourself and then decide how you like it and how you drive. i wouldnt take anyone elses opinion on a matter until you try it yourself. theres 4.1, 4.3 and 4.6 for the r200 diffs, readily available so plenty of shorter gearing to make it accel way faster and use the 6 gears more efficiently
Very informative, thanks for that!
It's just way too hard not to laugh watching a guy with a "DP" hat say "slip it in".
That's a Daft Punk and Black Flag reference, by the way.
Why not push the yolk all the way in a subtract 3/4" from your measurement
more invaluable information!! i live for this shit!
As much as I love all the scumbag videos, these build videos are awesome. Makes it easier to show that working on my own car isn't that scary :)
A 10 minute video where two guys measure a shaft
don't make the same mistake as the skid factory's fairlane.
Captain Zoll:
Mind elaborating? Which video, I kinda wanna go watch.

About 4 minutes in
Marco Dominguez
Thank you.
Holly crap, just watched it , at 4:30 wonder if it was aluminum lol.
You're welcome, i think it was steel. ?They show it on the previous episode if i remember correctly.
Love it!!!
That was some interesting shittt
How did Herts hood fly off and land that perfectly in the garage??
The car is in the air, should of had some raised jack stands under the rear end and lower the lift to simulate the car sitting on the ground, now your driveshaft length will be too long and more than likely cause premature seal wear on the trans
charles wickam independent rear suspension. Differential is bolted to the subframe and doesn't sag with the suspension when the car is in the air 👍
slim jim I was thinking solid axle, forgot about it being IRS
I feel like aluminium wont hold up? thought those things always split with clutch dumps and shit
sick
Vinny u gonna run E85 I can hook u up with the same people bisimoto use.....
so they can be made for any car at all?
Somebody please hook your driveshaft buddy up with some legit calipers!! I learned from the beginning, real calipers don't require batteries!! 😉
OOOOh Measure for driveshaft . thats a tough one. Aluminum ,to be as strong as steel will usually have to weigh the same as steel. Unless you use a high strength alloy. Use steel .
I spy Hert's hood, broken, again. What's the story on this one now Hoonigan?
Venue i thought he broke the mazda tranz doing the reveal video or right after?
Lynn Mckenney 0:53 that shit is straight up snapped
probly just an old one
ganggggg
For more accurate results, use the metric system lol......
vin where can i find a Cd009 trans?
fmx623 Junkyard/pickapart man. They came in g35s too
ooh i am 419th like.
NOOO!! DO NOT GO TO ALUMINUM! IT WILL NOT HOLD UP! My stock GMC had an ALUMINUM shaft that split three times before I went with steel. The weight of the drive shaft is not that important unless you're going pro and looking for thousandths a second.
Exactly, like that guy with the shelby on DT
I had a 2000 GMC Sierra with an aluminum driveshaft. That truck had 238,000 miles without a single issue with the driveshaft and that truck drove with about a ton of firewood in it or more at points. That truck was taking off road. It was 2wd but it was put through hell. Aluminum driveshafts are good when they are properly sized for the horsepower and use and when they aren't hit by things like rocks. Yes they are softer so they take impacts worse but for a drift car they should never take impact.
Or if you're a baller get a carbon drive shaft. Lighter and stronger than both
DeevoxL unless he was using it way wrong. Taking it out and using it as a hammer or something 😂😂😂
My 02 chevy quad cab has 280k on it, the original aluminum driveshaft is doing fine.
Vin, carbon fibre or stay home.
dont go aluminium prop, look what happened to the cobra you had in the yard...
#quangang
All this imperial is hurting my brain
aye i post drift shit, look at my channel, and my team wants to be rowdy asf on your lot, but we up in texas lol.
Cnt u just get the spec online 4 any ca
Any car?
Can you get the specs for a drive shaft online? Yes. A standard drive shaft for an s14 is a known part, designed to fit exactly in the space between the standard gearbox and differential of an s14. Vin's car has a custom fitted 1jz with a 350z gearbox and the standard s14 differential. The space between the gearbox and the diff is not the same as it would be with standard parts and even between two builds using the same parts, depending on where the engine is mounted, there could be inches of difference in the same measurement. All of which means you need accurate measurements to have a custom drive shaft fabricated.
Grab a posi off a wrecked g35/350z
focus you fack!
First
Jesus your camera must have ADHD cause it not focusing at all
idk, a lot of yokes but no punchlines.
Dude just let go of that engine and buy a 14b rotary💙
roberto cerezo rodriguez hell why not just go with a 15b 😂😂
Fuck fine lets just put mad mikes 1200hp rotary engine in there then
