I saw some of his paintings in New York and now his work has a whole new world in my mind. I hope to visit The Van Gogh Museum soon.

I stood in a long line to see an exhibition of his work at the L.A. County Museum. I kept thinking of what a contrast it was to his own time when he had trouble selling his work.

Did he really shot himself at that field??
I was wondering about that too. But it looks like he said "he shot himself in one of those fields" not exactly knowing which field. It's even more tragic that when Vincent shot himself he didn't die instantly. He was injured, walked back to his home and died the next day because of his injury. Real tragedy I think...
It's actually not as conclusive as presented here, because there were town witnesses who say that they heard a gunshot within the town itself rather than away in the fields. Additionally, some say that a person who lived in the town shot Vincent. When he was asked on his death bed, it's alleged that he said something along the lines of: I was shot (i.e. not necessarily that he shot himself). Vincent was known to have been picked on by town bullies. The gun was never found, and there was no blood traced to the fields.
Not that field. The latest biography on Van Gogh has an interesting theory in it that he was shot by a couple of boys that had been taunting him daily. It is possible.

Im kinda neutal on the whole suicide vs Homicide debate. Though i lean toward the homicide. Irregardless, its still a tragedy he died so young .

Sorry Rick Steves he did not shoot himself, it was an accident by some rich teenage brothers from Paris and Vincent decided to be a martyr and save them from getting charged with murder ..Do your homework first please and I always enjoy all your travel videos .
