The sweet & pure lyricism of Kagaan in the Beethoven concerto is ideal; arguably better than any other interpretation. A most unique and individual interpreter who should be much better known.
what a wonderful sweet sound, and such a spacious, unhurried, aristocratic and elegant approach to the music. Reminds me of Oistrakh but very individual as well.
I think it's from the same concert as Kagan, Gutman, Virsaladze and Kats playing Beethoven's Triple Concerto, which apparently is from 1978. I can't confirm this but it's the date I originally had for both.
Amazing. Kagan was 32 when this was performed. The orchestra is wonderful and Katz does an exemplary job. Kagan is profoundly great.

Honor to Oleg Kagan a great great violinist
50 minutes long, really taking his time, the slow movement and the cadenza was so beautiful.

In fact Kagan was a student of Oistrakh. Supposedly they together recorded all Mozart concertos - Kagan on violin and Oistrakh as conductor.
Un autentico artista .
Thank you so so so so so much!!!!!!!!! Ah I love Kagan♡♡♡

Thank you for uploading ! Wonderful performance . Fantastic musician Oleg Kagan ! Does anybody know what was his violin ? Was it a Strad?
c. 1740 Guarneri del Gesu
Can't be 1978, Kagan died in 1990 at 44, looked around 40 here, must be in the 80s, the quality of the video suggests that too.
