My comment from your old Amstrad CPC video so you can see it: " You are an amazing teacher. If you made a programming course on Udemy or wherever I would buy it straight away.". Please consider it. I've seen hundreds of programming explanations, but none as clear and inspiring as yours!
Nice equipment, in USA price of refurbish unit almost $3000. I am glad you said it wasn't such a good idea to test as you did. Could get quite expensive to repair with that kind of foolishness.
Nice! I have 3 HP 6033A's and they are built the same way on the inside. I'll have to get one of these just because :) The "RJ" jacks on the back are so you can daisychain up to 15 power supplies using one primary HPIB address and control the others with sub HPIB addresses..
I have a few of these too in different outputs. I converted a 6644A to have front panel binding posts with sense connections too, the 3D files are on thingiverse. They are a nice series of PSU, and my 6644A has both voltage and current knobs which makes it really handy to use.
Very cool supply, I'll bet it weighs a ton! You may want to do a bit more looking as most HP power supplies of that vintage have two X capacitors and one Y capacitor lurking in their bowels just waiting to make that cooked tofu smell good.
It is a rather weighty beast.... I couldn't see any more rifa caps, but I will check again just in case. My 8160A pulse gen had like 10 or more of them.....
It probably doesn't have any more Rifa caps - I had forgotten that you mentioned it had the Japanese mains option so the Y cap and another X cap would not be needed! I am so used to the 120/240 switchable units. Looking forward to the projects you have in mind for this supply.
Jesus Jared! XD Nice work! hahahaha. Definitely should have made the video title "Fun with a HP 6035A HV Power Supply - TOFU Lichtenberg Figure GONE WRONG!" Also, how pissed was the missus about the house smelling like burnt, expired Tofu?

Nice gear ... that said, Big Clive would have taken a bite of the tofu :-) lol
Ooof, it was reeeaallly stinky, think burnt meat garnished with smouldering hair.. hahaha
Always nice to see a video from you and your interesting test equipment!
You're welcome! :)
Isso sim é um excelente teste para essa fonte da Hp, e também o laboratório ficou com cheiro de comida queimada.
Nice supply for tube work. Also for testing transistor avalanche points.
Yep, tube work is exactly why I bought it. I have a stereo tube amp design I'm working on that will feature in a future video 'some time'.

Wow, that's a pretty steep price. I think I paid about equal to $100 for this one.
It’s a unit with the very rare Tofu option installed. Nice.
Crazy tofu man

Hahah! best thing you can do with Tofu !....cheers !
Mr. Spock saying fascinating!
Hi. Do you have some issues with HP339A restore.
One way to sink a ton of power is simply a length of wire in water some guys test generators at 2000 watts or more that way
Kettle and oven elements in water or oil work well too.
