Amazing natural looking trees! I just recently learned about Dan Robinson and his style.. love it! I don't like the traditional Japanese styling either, the trees with that kind of style look really beautiful, but they look very similar and artificial. Thank you for posting this video.
I been needing to watch this so I made time to sit down relax and hear the wisdom of what Dan has to say. What a legend! 👏👏👏 truly remarkable, and legendary trees he collected over the years. I hope someday my sagebrush will have a pinch of something great.
Thank you Maria, Dan, Diane and Elandan Gardens for allowing this valuable insight to be be shared with the world. Elandan is truly a place of enchantment. Dan you have away of relaying knowledge with a great story, which allows the listener to make the connection. You are as Gnarly as ever my friend. Ernie, from Phoenix Bonsai wishes you well.
Dan's reply: "I use 3 equal parts of red lava (3/8 to 1/8" lava grit, same size for pumice, fine grind landscape grade fir bark, It lasts a long time. Soil is a regional recipe. Elandan Gardens, ltd" Cheers!
@Maria Walton Thank you for the explanation. Yeah I bet he has lots of tricks around trees since he's been in forestry industry. I always admire his garden and his bonsai collection, looks a bit chaotic but also beautiful at the same time. Thank you for making this video, really enjoy it.
Hi Helios, I worked with Dan for about 4 years at his garden so I can help you out. Dan uses pumice/lava and aged fir bark in lieu of akadama for his soil. He says it's important to get fir bark instead of pine bark if you can because it takes much longer to break down.
ill speak for countless people throughout history and the future, and say that we dont care what a small group of hipsters think about anything.. theyll say theyre free thinkers, but of course theyre restricted regurgitating birds
Sure is funny to watch dan destroy all that bonsai dogma Ryan Neil has put in this woman's head. Learn to do bonsai on your own, not because Ryan Neil told you to do so.
You could never tire of listening ro dan .

Легендарная личность и большой художник!
Really interesting conversation. Since Dan never repot, did you asked him what type of soil that he uses?

Dan is a true master. How can a bonsai artist call themselves an artist if they follow strict rules with their art!!!
trully an outlier
