I used a sous vide for my glue up until very recently. I'm now using a Carnival King sauce bottle warmer from the restaurant supply. It holds temperature perfectly so far. Still trying to find an excuse to buy a Nacho Cheese machine.
I used hide glue granules to glue a couple of bridges.. was fine... few years later took out the same granules and made some more.. gluted neck joint.. never set after 24 hrs.. just pulled apart... glued a fingerboard.. easily pulled it apart after 24 hrs... so just built my first guitar with titebond2 I had handy.. any ideas? I appreciate what you are saying about creep etc but I got so frustrated with my hide glue..
Thanks for this. I determined to use HHG on repairs on guitars that were made with it and any new acoustic guitars I might make. I found fish glue witch is also animal protein based but with longer open time and no heat log hassle. What are you thoughts on Fish Glue?
I'll forgive the mockery of my dots because you did answer my questions. This time.
I'm not a builder or repair person, but just your ordinary guitar nut who enjoys
learning about how guitars are built and repaired. So, thanks.
Wow, that's incredibly generous Marshall.
Nice Q&A. Keep up the great work
Thanks!

Nice video 👍

You can put your leftover hideglue on a surface, let it dry and re use it.
