4 to 5 hours battery life for an audio player is like a crime. I also don`t get these cheap audio players with big screens , what is the point? My Shanling Q1 from 2020 has a very small screen but it gets the job done totally. Plus it lasts for 20 hours easily.
I agree, 4 hours is not enough. But why the big screen? Because it runs android. You don't want to see an android with a 3" screen like on Q1. Android means it's power hungry but unlike Q1 it's support apps.
@Ryubiru I can only agree if you need streaming platforms like Tidal or Spotify you will need apps. But if you use streaming apps then you have to deal with low battery life. I only listen offline music so I would definitely prefer daps with high battery life
There *IS* another option for people who want to use their phone for portable Hi-fi: a dongle DAC or dongle DAC/Amp. Fiio offers dongle DACs (KA17) and even Bluetooth dongle DAC/Amps (BTR17) at a similar price point to this with THX certification and stronger amplification for an alternative mobile Hi-fi solution.
I have KA17 and BTR7, I personally prefer my KA17 because I find it to be more analytical but the BTR7 to be more musical. Haven't tried the BTR17 but I feel it be somewhat similar to my BTR7.
Thank you for this reminder. I'm a noob with this stuff, and I've been out of the loop for a long time, but I'm dipping my toes back in. We've all got phones, and they already have all the features of these portable devices EXCEPT for the discreet hifi-focused hardware & design... but they can transmit all the data via USB or BT. That's it, problem solved. Simply stream the data off-device to something like a BTR17 that DOES have that audio hardware for playback, and now our personal phones can still be our music hubs, and we don't have to carry around another whole Andoid device. It's essentially just a hardware expansion for the phone you already carry everyday, and which has all your personal stuff on it already. No need to REBUY another screen, battery, etc.; instead, you can put 100% of your money into enhancing the capabilities of your existing phone. 👍
A BTR17 is the same price as this and will give you far better sound quality. The drawback will be that it will eat up your smartphone battery. This DAP might actually last longer than a smartphone with a dongle, despite its comparatively small battery.
Official specs (from an official retailer in China): Snapdragon 680 Dual CS43198 700mw+700mw output 12 hour battery life Android 13 Own OS (SRC bypassed)
Was there a protective film on the screen from the start?

rated 9.5 to 12hours but this review only 4 to 5, thats very far apart
better to just go headfi if want better review
@lcwpg what is the difference? In headfi max they will say in low gain you will get better battery life and that's it. Even 10 hours is abismal.
@S_G_86 probably optimization issue, that is why I didnt buy one yet.. gonna wait and see if the issues and battery improved or not
This is obviously meant to compete with Hiby's M300 and when compared to that, the Fiio is much better.
Why?
aronou bro, more mah but less battery life, and bigger which makes m300 more portable
how come?m300 is cheaper
this head to head with hiby r4 from price
Hi bro, Your videos are awsome🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Thank you.
Thank you for the review, completely besides the point, what brand and model of glasses are you wearing? They look very nice
Is it worth it if you don’t have your own music library? Like you only use Spotify
the sd card slot should have a cover
We need a more realistic batter assesment.. no one is using IEMs maxed out on this
plz suggest any audiophile dac based phone....cant carry dap and phone both
Moondrop miad 01
Compare JM21 and BTR17 please.
I wish phones these days have high quality DAC like the LG phones before. People are too obsessed with benchmark numbers
The closest one for now is Moondrop MIAD 01, but compare it to LG V60 seems like unfair
most of "top" phones doesn't even add jacks nowadays and somes not even sd card expansions
yo when is the nubia z70 ultra review coming out?
Please do a redmi k80 pro review
Yes, it's coming.

Excellent content
Official specs (from an official retailer in China):
Snapdragon 680

12 hour battery life

Interstellar ingesting style for today....
That battery life is a real deal breaker.
Untill we can buy it we will have flying cars.
Things that impact sound - 95% headphones, 4% output power from DAP, 1% Tips, .01% how high quality your files are.
No
Watching this in my newly received jm21. 🤣
Huawei Mate 70 pro +
Lol. Just buy a cheap Samsung A05s and a DAC adapter. You get data connection too. This doesn't make sense at all.
🤢🤮
