    You could have added:
    1. Norway gives out the Nobel Peace Prize.
    2. While the king technically is the leader of Nprway, he has no actuall power. He is only there because of tradition. The pri minister is the real leader.
    3. Norway has more than 50% of the worlds teslas
    4. It is a part of scandinavia
    5. The reason there are so few people per square mile is that Norway is mostly mountains and forest
    6. Norway kinda own (it's a bot complocated) a island called Svalbard. Inside a mountain in Svalbard the goverment of Norway have made an enormous "Seed bank". A place were they have store thousands and thousends of seeds from all over the world, incase som of this were to go extinct
    7. Norway is VERY cold
    8. Norways has a national oil company that makes sure all money made from oil is being distribited to society and not to private organcations.
    9. Norwegian beaches are not beaches, they are the work of Satan himself. They are pure rock, there is always a cold wind and the water is freezing. Swim inside.

      10. If you want to learn a language, Norwegian is super easy. The only problem is that it is kinda pointless since Norway has a higher percentage of englishspeakers than Canada
      11. We have a time called russetid (after highschool) were you basicly party get drunk, have a terrible hangover the next morning just to go to an other party later, and repeat the prosess.

      this isn exactly the problem here. you think oilfund assets are for the gain of Norwegians. i cant be bothered to explain to fools like you

    • @clabe9010
      @clabe9010 6 років тому +21

      firstly I wouldn't have close to as much money as I have now as a Norwegian if it wasn't for the money the state makes on extracting oil.
      I am going to assume you are referring to the fact that Norway doesn't use more that a few percent of the money made(since you couldn't be bothered to explain). What I meant when I said that statoil makes sure the money goes to the people is this: the state owns the money made by oil and not to private organisations like in the US. In countries like US there are a few really rich people who end up with all the money. In Norway the state owns the money and uses it how they believe it is the most beneficial for the people.
      Btw: You need to relax, and if you "can't be bothered to explain" then why are you even taking the time to write me a comment, lol

      mikomati that is correct, but we only have that law because of tradition. If the king started to refuse laws the government had made we would probably take that power from him. The king supposed to be neutral in politics. The king basicly always approves whatever the gouverment besides, unless it is about the king and the castle.

      Our healthcare on the other hand, is plagued by extremely long queues, and lacks the resources needed to do their jobs efficiently enough.

      shaha Gohar no

    • @Nabium
      @Nabium 6 років тому +6

      It used to import more, up until 2016 when it was overtaken by Great Britain. How-ever, Britain has more than 10x as many people, so that was going to happen eventually.
      And, even thought Britain is now importing a little more than Norway(not much more actually), Norway still have more teslas in the streets due to the vast amount of cars imported before 2016.
      The only country with more teslas is the US, but since Tesla is an American company they don't really import the cars. The US also have 60x as many inhabitants.
      So there was a little while where Norway actually had more and imported more Tesla's than both Britain and California, but that time is over. How-ever, considering how Norway has such a small population, Norway is still the country in the world where the Tesla car is the most popular.
      But not only the Tesla, all electric cars are popular. 42% of all cars sold in Norway 2017 are electric cars.
      And considering how sparsely populated Norway is, where it's highly impractical for people living on the countryside to have electric cars; it's a difficult choice for many to switch to electric. More so in countries with more urban areas such as Britain and Cali. And that really puts these numbers in perspective.

    Theres a lot of small mistakes in here that could be changed if a norwegian watched the video before it was posted.
    1) The king's offical title is His Majesty Norrway's king, not King of Norway. He serves the nation more than the other way around. Our king has nothing to do with politics at all, as the video might suggest, we have a prime minster. The kings jobs entail more around maintaining relationships, maintaining traditions, and specifically our king is not that bad with speeches.
    2) Our coastline is enormous yes but calling it beachline is not the right word for it as very few places along the shore has sand. Its very rocky and full of seaweed.
    3) Average temperature in Norway in the summer might be 18 celsius, but overall its probably a lot lower. In the winter Norway has some very nothern parts that get -25 to -35 on the coldest days. And all of norway gets cold enough for snow in the winter.
    Theres a lot for interesting things about Norway that are more "normal" to mention in this type of video. Like beeing rated between 1th -3rd happiest places in the world last three years and that Norway is the top 5 of countries in the world where religion doesnt have any particular significance in the daily lives of the people. Norway recently became more atheistic/agnostic than religious (as of 2015). And more unique things.

    • @Melodeath00
      @Melodeath00 6 років тому

      The original plan was for Sweden to get Norway as a "gift" for their efforts in the Napoleonic wars. Gift, as in, Sweden directly annexing Norway, not just a union.
      We said no, wrote the constitution and declared independence from Denmark, to which Sweden obviously declared war. In the following war, Norway was too weak to defend itself properly, but Sweden was also too weak to fully enforce their own claims, so a "compromise" was made, and Norway entered into a union under Sweden.
      Lasting independence didn't come until 1905, but it would still be technically correct to refer to 17th of May as an independence day, as we were in fact independent while the war against Sweden was still ongoing.

    You could have talked about the “tungtvanns aksjonen” or the heavy water war wich took place under ww2 when a rebellion group from Norway stopped the German eksport of heavy water to from Norway to Germany and they destroyed the heavy water production. The heavy water was believed to be a rescipy to a nuclear weapon, so maybe the war had ended much more differently if this did not happen!

    • @Nor1MAL
      @Nor1MAL 5 років тому +2

      It wasn't a recipe for nuclear weapons, but it could have aided tremendously in the research/production of nuclear weapons, yes! It is perhaps highly likely the Germans would have had nuclear weapons before the US, if it weren't for the bombings and sabotages of the heavy water production plant(Vemork hydrogen plant was the first mass producing heavy water plant in the world) and a certain transport of materials. I also have to add that the French military intelligence, prior to the war starting in Norway, managed to remove/"lend" 185kg of Heavy Water from Norway. If the Germans had gotten nuclear weapons in time, even after the US; Germans would have had a significant advantage over the allies, because of the V2 rocket. Because with the V2 rocket, they could have potentially hit US soil, either from Germany or a significant distance; something the US had to use bombers for! UK would have surely have fallen in this case, because the V2 rocket hit London from mainland Europe reliably, with mechanical targeting systems!
      This is not the only big contributing factor Norway/Norwegians did; Notraship (Norwegian Shipping and Trade Mission), was created 1940 to help with the war effort for the allies, one which was to transport supplies to the UK, and it became the largest shipping fleet in the world at the time. It's attributed with being a major contribution to the allied war effort.
      If it were not for those two major contributing parts from Norway/Norwegians, WW2 would have lasted longer, if not entirely lost for the allies. It's stupid of anyone to refute both of those!
      Sidenote: The German scientists behind the V2 rocket is hugely responsible for the US getting to the moon; at least that early! IIRC, no one can make remake the Saturn rocket, since the people behind it are dead, and there is not enough schematics or knowhow to make a new one. If I'm not wrong, it's still the most powerful machine humans has built; and it's still the only machine to have brought humans beyond low earth orbit.

    Some Norway facts from a Norwegian:
    Our national day isn't our independence day which was 1905(which was also the day our union with Sweden was dissolved), but instead 1814, our constitution day, which is when we entered a union with Sweden after 300 years of Danish rule.
    A Norwegian saying is that all Norwegians are born with skis on their legs. We love skiing.
    We make Swedish jokes, they make danish jokes, and Danes make Norwegian jokes.
    Our northern most region (Finnmark) has sunlight 24 hours a day for 6 months. Then 6 months of pure darkness.
    Our school system has elementary school form 1-7th grade. Middle school(ungdomskole: Youth school) from 8-10th grade, then high school from 11-13th grade. Which basically means we have an extra year of school.

    Norway has the strongest tidal current in the world, a mealstrom called Saltstraumen. During the age of Vikings a Viking Chieftain named Raud den rame (Rauðr inn rammi) was a Warchief that lived close to Saltstraumen. He is also mentioned by Olav Tryggvason in the Snorre King's Tales.
    A fearless and cunning Viking Warchief lived in Godøya (Good Island) close to Saltstraumen. Raud was his name, he was very rich and powerful, a respected but feared landlord. Should he be in need, he also had a handful Finnish/Sami people on his side. Raud was feared among his enemies, and word said that Raud was a powerful sorcerer. Believed to be able to control the weather and wind.
    Year 999 King Olav the Holy was doing his crusades in the north of Norway, in his quest to christianize Norway. When he came to Saltenfjorden he decided to pay the pagan Raud a visit to make him a christian man.
    A powerful storm occured as the christian king got closer to Raud's village. The King was then forced to lay and wait with his ship untill the waves calmed down close to the shore. But they didn't. Further out a the king spotted a breeze easy enough to continue along the shore. The King then continued north and left Raud alone. When the king returned south again, he was once more attempting to get into Saltenfjorden and have a chat with Raud. However, like last time the storm was back again, it is said that the king waited a few days to see if the waves would calm by the shores, but they didn't.
    He then contacted Bishop Sigurd for advice. The Bishop said he would ask for gods power and blessing to end the sorcery of Raud. The Bishop then went around the King's ship with a cross, while reading from the bible. He poured holy water on the tip of the ship, and blessed various parts of the ship.
    And so, the storm ended and the waves calmed, the king and his men went ashore with their rowboats. While they were rowing, water spewed out of the ocean, and only a white mark was left behind them on the surface.
    (Which is a quite accurate description of how the spot of a tidal wave (maelstrom) looks like during the calm of it)
    When they came to Raud's halls they captured him and tied him up. The King told Raud to get baptised. "Then, I shall not rob you of your riches, but be your friend!", The King said to Raud. Raud shouted back as he cursed christianity and said that he would never betray Odin and Thor. The King got so mad that he was going to make Raud eat his words. Raud was then tied against a pole. His mouth was forced open by a branch, as the King's men forced a snake down Raud's throat. The snake wouldn't budge and managed to get away. Olav made a make-shift pipe of some materials nearby and released the snake into the pipe that was now forced into Raud's throat, he then dropped a piece of hot metal into the pipe after the snake. The snake paniced and ate it's way out of Raud's stomach, that is how Raud died.
    Olav the Holy took all off Raud's personal possessions; gold, silver, slaves and other riches. Raud had a ship, Draken(The Dragon), the king took it. It was alot bigger and nicer than his own ship. It had a dragon's head in the front, and decorations in the back that made the tail aswell. The ship was even ingraved with gold in the wood. The King called this ship Ormen (The Worm/The Snake)
    as a taunt towards how Raud died. The king eventually built an even bigger ship from the design of Draken, he called his new ship Ormen Den Lange (The Long Worm/The Long Snake)
    According to the Snorre King's Tales Raud reigned over two islands known as Gylling og Hæring. Together these islands was known as the Godøyene (The Good Islands), the currency stream between them are known as Godøystraumen. According to history, fact, myths and legends; Raud was not only a powerful warrior and a Warchief, but also a shamanistic sorcerer able to control the weather, the winds and the ocean. Living in a place like Saltstraumen, it isn't hard to understand that the powerful tidal waves and maelstorms is what people back then believed to be the work of Raud's magic.

    The king doesn’t actually do anything much in the sense of ruling Norway. We have a parliament based on the American parliament. The king has veto power on certain things, but he can only say no, never make up something new. This is in the Norwegian “grunnlov” which was written in may 1814. But as a king he is definitely great. You can also search up king Harald of Norway’s speech where he says that no matter gender, color or sexuality we’re all Norwegian, and we’re the ones who make Norway great. So yeah, he’s an awesome king 👑

    My favorite thing about Norway is how hilariously unsocial we are. Sitting next to a stranger on the bus? Would actually rather stand. And if, for some reason, you end up sitting next to someone, for the love of king Harald himself, do not make eyecontact. Do not talk. We have a nationally accepted kind of body language for when we're about to get off the bus so we don't have to talk to each other. Also, something that apparently isn't normal in many other countries, is that we call our teachers by their first names, and we're often friends with them on facebook and talk to them via text.

    «Fun» fact. In 2018 Norway killed of the majority (about 90%) of its Native critically endangered wolf population in order to protect animal livestock, of which the wolf kills but a fraction of all those that dies in pain in our nature due to injuries from other causes than predators. And did I mention that Norway produces a large surplus of said livestock, which are kept in cold storage due to lack of demand of those products from consumers. To all who thinks highly of Norway, do not think so. Read about how we kill of several of our critically endangered predator species only to satisfy sheepfarmers and «hunters». Think about that next time you are considering going on holiday in Norway. Think about that when considering purchasing Norwegian products. Choose something else. Regards from a Norwegian who is appaled by our governments slaughter of our predators.
