I sent in a NWT IRO tweed jacket that retailed for $540 and it sold for $85 on their site. I earned $17….I was so mad. I will never use them again. They keep contacting me to send stuff in but no way! I’d rather it sit for awhile.
I haven’t sent things to them in over a year because of the payouts. BUT I will say to be careful with ThredUp too. I sent in an approx. $1200 vintage Christian Dior sweater, pristine condition. ThredUp now sets strict limits on how much you can raise the price of an item and they capped the price for this item at $44!! Naturally the sweater sold almost instantly at that price. I emailed customer service and they told me they would adjust the payout if I could prove the value of the item by sending them a link to a nearly identical item on the CD website. Well I couldn’t really do this because the item was vintage, so my plea for a higher payout was denied. SO, my payout for an approx. $1200 sweater wound up being about $8. I am STILL sick about it
Great video idea! when I started reselling, that was the route I took. I would source only stuff to send into TRR, but after a few times of doing that and seeing the payouts, I put a halt to it and leaned into poshmark. It makes me sick even thinking about the amazing things i sent and the tiny amounts i received... Even though that's now been 3 years ago. I will never send stuff to them again. I'm in the same boat as you though, 5k items and at my max capacity, so figuring out ways to move more. for me it seems to just be offering steeper discounts. PS do you have a vendoo affilitate?
I have only sent 3 items into TRR and have been happy with my experience. Two were Chanel: a pair of sandals and a wallet. They seem to price Chanel very high and that was my experience. The wallet was quite discolored, but sold for over $300. I was pleasantly surprised. I am pretty selective with what I send them since their commission is ridiculously low in general.
I’ve always wondered why don’t sellers just run a clearance on their inventory, they would earn more money on their own and just save extra shipping expenses.
Seems like the way to go is to list the items at a cheaper price, sell them yourself, and pay 20% posh fee. I personally don't think it is worth it to send them your high end pieces. You've alreasy taken the time, and taken photo's, measurements, etc. Jack Valentine, and Ryan used to sell to them frequently, but have stopped since the real-real made some changes not in the sellers favor. I think I've heard this on other reseller channels as well.
I have rotten luck selling high end on Posh, so after letting it sit for awhile, I send to Real Real. I also use them as free authentication - when it doubt, send it in. They'll let you know if it's fake and send it back. My experience with selling designer at ThredUp - they listed a NWT designer scarf as "Unbranded" at $12.99. I pointed out their mistake, so they corrected the brand name, but left the price at $12.99. I had to buy it back (because they don't send your stuff back anymore, you have to pay shipping, etc) I will never put anything I care about in ThredUp's hands ever again.
I have a lot of experience buying and selling on the real real and let me tell you I would never ever sell anything again to them. Now buying on there is great because you can get stuff for really really low prices designer items for really low prices because they discount so fast but I would recommend you take back those items that haven’t sold and relist your listing take all the pictures down delete the whole list you had and redo the pictures, the description everything and maybe lower the price a little if you need to. I’m just telling you by experience I would never ever self again. I know I said that before but it’s true. I wish you the best of luck.😊
Thank you for sharing your experience! Glad to hear it’s not just me. Sorry you had a bad experience there too. I’m definitely going to start shopping there more
But imagine if you had a closet full of designer pieces that still have tags on or were worn once and you paid RETAIL for! That’s my position thanks to weight gain after an accident 😢
Find a reseller like me that lives locally! They will gladly take them on consignment and I guarantee you will get a much bigger return that through the real real.

Dang that is terrible! Sorry that happened. Someone got an amazing deal 😮
you convinced me to cancel my appointment with them.
Hi! Mistery boxes?? I know some people have done that to unload some inventory 🤷🏻♀️ just a thought! Thank you for sharing your experience 😊
I would definitely buy a mystery box with those items! They seem to be all desired pieces🌟👍

Not yet. I need to look into it. I’ve been loving it so far! Glad I moved from list perfectly.

Is it basically we sell our stuff it could be whatever?
I wouldn’t sell anything to them anymore if I wasn’t happy with the return. Maybe just use them to sell jewelry?
